2012 Jeep JK - Problem with driver seat height adjuster.

RE: Jeep JK driver seat height adjuster.

Every time I get out of the Jeep I hit the seat adjuster handle with my legs - I just can't avoid it, and hence, the seat goes down. As I see it, the adjuster handle is too high.

I took the handle off but it can't be adjusted downward. I suppose I could machine a new notch in the screw but I was wondering if Chrysler fixed the handle position for the 2013 models so I could replace that with mine. Does anyone know if that is the case or perhaps know of a fix other than machining a new notch?

2013 is the same. Someone on here did a write up about customizing the handle to make it level. Search around in the threads about the driver's seat squeaking/creaking- I found it when I was looking for a squeak solution.

Not fixed in 2013 models.

Just posted a thread last week about this very same problem. I was told that it has been covered in the past and it is very common.

I just took the handle off, and reattached temporarily pointing downwards. Until I get the time and willingness to modify it. But for now, the relocation is working fine.

This .pdf, although it's for installing a "blingy" replacement lever, will show you how to set the lever lower so you don't hit it so easily:

The other thing is that the handle touches the seat and scratches the crap out of the leather.

I remember on a Booze IRC chat room, someone asking what V.S.O.P meant and another member answered "Very Special Old Pail" 15 or more years later and I still remember that.

Yes an IRC chat room, I've been around the internet block a few times.

I had to use black duct tape to help it from scraping the leather.

I stopped by the dealer on Wednesday to show them the cut in the leather from the adjuster handle. They agreed that the design sucks and took some pictures. Today I got a call from them telling me that Chrysler has approved recovering the seat under warranty. After a head replacement and now this, I'm very impressed with my dealers service department.
