2012 jeep upgrades and Tick issues.

I have a 2012 Jeep 4dr six speed manual with 4.56 gears and 32" tires with Firestone air bags in all 4 coil springs to handle the excess weight from hunting racks and dog boxes. I am a full time hunter for a living and use my Jeep off road every day as well as lots of highway driving to and from properties. My stock jeep was ordered from the factory with 4:10 gears but came in with 3.21 gears. The dealer paid for the gear upgrade and I went with 4.56 after doing lots of research. My jeep with the stock 3.21 gears ran 1900 rpm at 70mph, and runs 2700 rpm at 70mph with the 4.56 gears. So the gear charts are pretty close. At 23,000 miles the CEL came on and the dealer got a misfire on #2 cylinder. It had a loud tick from day one but the fuel mileage didn't go way down till around 6000 miles. It is at the dealer till Friday getting the heads replaced. They tried to act like they didn't know what I was talking about till I pulled out the IPad and showed them the recall articles. Then they some how knew all about my problem and would fix it in a jip. Funny how that happens some times.

Dont have any pictures so here is a video of my jeep setup and what I do for a living. If you are against hunting don't watch.

Strange. I ran stock 32" tires with 4.56 R&P (G2) and was at nearly 3k at 70MPH.. Also made for quick use from each gear.. Would usually just use 2nd, 4th, 6th.. I found It to be a bit much.. To each their own. Hope the head swap goes well

I have owned 4500 diesel trucks all my adult life so I don't notice the shifting much. I do hate the hill assist on these jeeps when on hills. If you know how to drive a manual properly the hill assist will mess you up a lot.

Also if yours is like mine the speedo is way off. Mine is 7mph slow at 70mph. So if the speedo reads 63mph I am really going 70mph. Got this fixed and its spot on now. Put a GPS on the dash and you will get a good idea if yours is off.

I doubt they are replacing both heads for a cylinder 2 misfire. They are replacing the driver side head. And I can do that head swap in a day. And it will tick when you get it back cause we reuse the camshafts, cam gears, cam phasers, lifters & rocker arms. And these are just noisey engines & a good portion of the noise is injectors as well. Thats what the engine cover is for on these engines. It's to help hide some of the sound. And if that dealer didn't know about misfires on the 2,4,6 bank they must be either a very low volume dealer or ignorant. We do way more of these head replacements on mini vans by far cause they got this engine in the 2011 models.
