2012 jeep wrangler CB mounting location question

Hello,
I want to install a CB in my 2012 jeep wrangler unlimited. The quadratec catalog has bracket for earlier models that have a screw on both sides of the center console. The 2012's do not have that screw and I do not want to drill holes in my new jeep. Suggestions anyone?

I would recommend going with something like the Cobra 75 that is self contained. That way, you don't have to find a place to mount the CB head unit. Check out Basecamper's build thread for pics of what he did.

I have the midland handheld unit (75-822 I think)and ultramount antenna routed into the storage box between the seats. It is invisible until I want to use it then I lay it onto the passenger seat or cup holder. No loss of perfromance or usabilty that I can discern. Plus it's a piece of cake to disconnect and pull out of my Jeep for security reasons. There is a thread on it somewhere here by a few of us that went that route...

I just purchased a new Uniden 520xl cb, was thinking about installing in the center console of my 2014 Unlimited Wrangler. Was wondering if anyone has done this and how they mounted the unit.

I have the same model and jammed it between the consol and the passenger seat. It's so snug it never moves, even when you move seat forward to let someone get in the back. I have the clip on the ac vent and it can still open and close when I remove the mic. No drilling needed.

Really, can you post a photo? Also, how did you run the coax cable for the antenna?

Sure, photo below. If you use the same mic clip you will need to super glue it. The adhesive tape will melt when you run the heater in winter time. Since i run topless/doorless april -october i am not concerned too much about air conditioner, so it doesnt bother me. like i said, drop the mic in the cup holder if you need any air and the clip doesnt affect functionality. notice the seat is forward. i had someone bouncing in and out of the back yesterday and the cb never moved.

I ran the cable as normal along the passenger side and up through the trunk. The cord is there but not completely installed onto the antennae. I bought an Ace bumper the day after i installed the cb, so didnt bother mounting it. didnt want to do it twice, but the cable it there and ready for a 2 minute install any day now.

End of thread.

Seriously I use it and pretty much everyone else I know. It works great and the price is definitely right.

I see. So the cb is not bolted into the console or seat correct? You can basically remove the cb anytime and unplug the power cable?

I like it, very simple.

you are correct. the wiring is tucked under the factory carpet and has a quick disconnect. i do really like the location. its easy to read, easy to reach and pretty hidden. My only fear is that I live in downtown DC and run topless/doorless april-october. theft has crossed my mind. i would feel a little better if it was actually mounted, but then with the mic cord it would be more noticeable. Here it is pretty hidden. Trade offs i guess. will see how it goes. if someone wants it, they are going to get it, mounted or not.
