Question 2012 JK driver's seat travel distance

Well....I am throwing in the towel! Recently bought a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport. I am 6' and the seat does not travel back enough to allow for comfortable leg room. The dealer agreed and ordered a new seat bracket and rail from Chrysler. NO difference! The dealer said they received no other complaints and it's a big dealership and there was nothing more they could do.
Design flaw? I'd like to hear from any 2012 JK Sport owners. I am thinking some factory robot hiccuped and drilled the seat bracket holes too close to the firewall.

IDK. I am 6'1" and I can move the seat back to the point where its hard to push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor. Plenty of leg room.

Go to the dealer and sit in another new Jeep and see if the seat goes back farther.

6'5" and I'm not complaining, but a few more clicks back would be nice.

You guys aren't driving with the seat all the way back are you? If i put my seat all the way back, I'm looking out the rear door window when I turn my head. LOL. And the pedals are starting to be a stretch. I can't believe anybody except Shaq would want more clicks on the seat tracks.

What the JKU NEEDS is a telescoping steering wheel.

I'm 6'0" in a JKU and the seat is never in the furthest set back position. Either you have freakishly long legs or something was messed up.

You must have some pretty long legs. I'm 6ft and I never have the seat all the way back. I don't even think I can reach the pedals if I did have it all the way back.

Check out misch 4x4 bigboy seat extender.

This will give you more leg room if your Jeep turns out to be normal and the dealer doesn't address the issue.

At 6' 0" tall myself, I cannot even put it back all the way or I cannot push the clutch in fully. I do hate hitting my right knee on the cig plug though....grrr. Thanks Chrysler for that design flaw!

RE drivers seat travel distance.

I want to thank all of you for responding...especially you tall guys. I think it's an issue with this jeep. It's my fault for not recognizing this problem on the test drive. I sat in a friend's Sahara Wrangler last week and it's driver's seat goes back just fine.

I now have renewed enegy to get this resolved either through the dealer or Chrysler.

Unless it is a JK vs JKU issue, it must be a defect in yours. Try another one on the lot.

I am able to move the seat all the way back in my JKU and leaning on the center console swing my locked straight (with a brace, recent ACL replacement surgery) left leg into vehicle to drive. I am 6ft with a 32in inseam. Then I scoot the seat forward and drive comfortably.

Try a different dealer. My guess is that by your handle you are in SLC, UT and by the response you got that dealer is Larry Miller. Try Ken Garff in West Valley. They have been better to work with in my experience. Assuming I am even right that is...

I agree with the steering wheel - I have long legs (31 inseam), 5'7" height, and seemingly short arms. I have to adjust for arm length, and then my legs are crammed.

Back to the issue, check underneath the seat and see if there's anything in the track blocking it from sliding back further - although I doubt it since you said they replaced the track.

5'9" 2013 JKR. I have to have my seat all the way back to the stops to drive comfortably.

Try driving a Toyota Land Cruiser without an electric seat or a Toyota FJ cruiser and the worst of all is the Land rover Defender 110 couldn't even get in. No leg room if your 6.4-6.7 the J.K is most comfortable unless you go for the Electric seats on the Land Cruiser. If you don't believe me, take them for a test drive.

6'2" and my 2dr Sport is the only vehicle I've ever been able to move up from the last click. I think I'm 2 clicks from the back stop.

I have a 2012 Sport. I'm 6' 3", 275 #'s and have no problems with leg room. Must be something with the way yours was assembled. Hope you've got it straightened out.

THIS! holy crap. And if I plug something in the cig lighter, forget it. I have to use the one in the center console. Oh and thanks for that useless clip thing on the other side, should just have the cig lighter over there!!!

At 6'0", with long legs, It is JUST BARELY far back enough when all the way back.

Ideally, it could go a click or two more.

For other (older) Jeeps, there is a product called "big boy brackets" which move your seat back a certain amount. I wonder if anything like that is (or ever will be) made for the JK.

6'4" and ALL LEGS with a 36" inseam. Two more clicks would be good.

I had the same complaints you did (owned many jeeps in the past). Noticed it right away on the rest ride. The seat back tilts backward and the height adjuster an be pushed down to give you maximum length. Also, I adjust the steering wheel to be appropriate for leg room.

I went as far as to look up aftermarket brackets and considered drilling out the frame brackets but there wasn't enough metal and it looked unsafe to do so.

After months of driving it I am totally used to it and have no complaints after 26,000 miles on the 2012. Give it some time. If that doesn't work, have custom brackets fabricated at a high quality shop. Or get and after market bracket (Corbeau Porsche brackets were recommended for universal applications for Jeep, but may only work with their seats). Just trying to give you some options.
