2012 JK Radio Upgrade

I have a 2012 JK with the base Media Center 130 RES radio. Is it possible to upgrade to the 130 RES+RSC just by swapping the radios and adding the Sirius antenna? Will any Chrysler or Dodge 130 radio work or does it have to be from a jeep?

in the same boat

I also just bought a 2011 JK with RES and got a RES+ RSC for $50 off ebay and am hoping to have the same question answered. I know I have to take it back to the dealer after install to have the sat enabled. Will a regular sirius sat antenna fit or do I need some kind of install kit because there is a specific connection type on the back of the radio? Hoping someone can help us newbies out!

Yes, i did this late last year after i bought mine. You can pretty much grab any Sirius/XM antenna and it will plug into the back of the factory head unit.

Oh and you do not have to go back to the Dealer. It will work without a dealer flash, you just need to activate the Radio with Sirius.

One thing i can suggest is to run the Satellite Antenna thru the roll bar padding over the front passenger door and down the pillar into the dash.. its alot easier than pulling up all the plastic molding along the floor. The dash comes apart rather easily and is mostly held in with snap clips.
