2012 JKU Arctic or Ruby? Help me decide!

Hello All...

Here's my dilemma...I currently have a 2012 JK 2dr Sahara and love it...but it's tough get in/out of the back seat and storage is tight, especially if I'm going camping. It's my primary vehicle, I don't have any kids..just me, my girl, and our Yorkie. I occasionally would like to take out friends in it also. Although I love look of the 2 door, especailly with the top off, I really think I need a 4 dr for the versatility.

I love my setup of 3.73's and LSD, it works well with my 35's. I don't want to custom order another Jeep, like I did with this one. So I've found 2 JKU's near me that I'm interested in.

The Arctic comes with 3.73's and LSD and the Ruby comes with 4:10's. Other than that, both are similarly equipped. I like the interior of the Arctic, but the Ruby has black leather. (which wasn't an available option last Summer when I ordered my JK.)

I not worried about the price, since I'll be using the TL discount.

I won't be going off-road except for the beach.

Here's the windows stickers for both:

So, I'm reaching out to the WF community for opinions, from anyone...not just Arctic or Ruby Owners.

Thanks!!! :D

It's too bad they didn't make a Arctic Edition Rubicon. That would solve it!

I guess my other concern would be mpg. With the 2dr, 3:73's & 35's I am getting 17.5 mpg avg, (80% hwy/20% city)...with the heavier JKUR w/4:10's I'd imagine I'd get about 14-15 avg mpg and 16-17mpg with the Arctic w/3.73's.

Sound about right??

Not sure about the Winter Chill color either...I'm going to have to see it in person.

Decisions...decisions...

I have the arctic with 3.73's and 35's, power is fine but I'm averaging 15 mpg around town. If your staying with the stock tires you can get 18 to 19. Btw I have the winter chill and I'll be the first to talk you out if it, since I'm selfish and like having the only one around. (Love the color) either way you go is a win though.

I would go with the Rubi because, um, IT'S A RUBI!! :whistling:

Seriously though, if you already have the 35's, the 4:10 gears on the Rubi will be better than the 3.73. Plus, it comes with the lockers and push button disconnect. I guess that doesn't matter as much if you're not going to wheel it much.

The Artic may be prettier, but the Rubi is more funtional. Especially with 35's.

What about a COD MW3...difference in money is about 4k between that and the Rubi...and the aev bumpers & hood, w/enhanced Mopar Rock Rails would cost that much anyway if added on to a Rubi...IDK...:hide:

I went with the 2012 JKU Rubi Auto w/4.10's. It's in transit and should be delivered to the Dealer in a few days. :punk:

Thanks for all your suggestions! :thumb:

Good choice!

I could barely afford the Sport I got. Hopefully my next Jeep will be a Rubi. Anytime someone says should I get X or the Rubi, I don't understand how anyone could consider anything else if they can afford the Rubi.

Plus, you got the color that I would get if I had to choose again. I LOVE black, but it shows the scratches the most. My next one will be Silver.
