2012 JKU Audio Problems

Have a new 2012 JKU Dozer. Only a few days old. Good fun!... My question: The 130 radio seems to have excessive static on some stations. Satellite radio and CD sound just fine. As I see it, the possible solutions are as follows:

1) Complain to dealer... but audio is subjective so they may not help.
2) Replace antenna... most replacements I see are the short ones from AntennaX, so I am not sure this will help.
3) Install insulation in speakers
4) Install insulation in hard top
5) Replace 130 completely (not something I really want to do)
6) Live with it.

Any other ideas?
thank you.

I'm not an expert, my opinion?
If other vehicles reception is ok in your area... the JKU should be as well. My JK has good reception compared to an older ford I had...
That said, if your cd and sat. sounds fine, I would guess your antenna is bad / or has a loose connection....I would have the dealer look at it

My Jeep with the 130 has better FM reception than my last vehicle. Did you have satellite in your last radio? If not you may just be hearing the difference in FM and satellite.

Take the top off and roll the windows down and you won't notice the static.

I live in what is considered a fringe area for radio reception. I am 60 miles from Tampa and 75 from Orlando. I have noticed that my radio reception is not quite as good with stations from those ares as past vehicles I've owned have been. The few local stations that we have the reception is the same as past vehicles.

Thanks for the quick responses... but before I go to the dealer, a quick further question from a satellite radio neophyte... does the satellite radio use the same antenna as the AM/FM radio or does it work on a different principle?

Different. The antenna for the sat radio is in the surround bar.
