Angry 2012 JKU sport windshield problem

So just a few minutes ago as I left work, my damn windshield cracked. I've had the rig for a few days. Bought it new and no chips or anything in the windshield. Has this ever happened to any of you? I'm calling the service department tomorrow.

If there was a chip under the window molding or the side of the glass it can do it.

Won't be your last IMO

3 jeeps = 7 windows. Not looking forward to replacing the JK's because it's not flat like the TJ's

Well it looks as though I will be keeping this windshield until I have to replace it. Is it a jeep thing with windshield cracks happening often? I have had my fair share of vehicles and never had a chip or crack.

Had my Jeep with only 200 miles and it got hit by a rock causing a chip in the winshield. Living in Colorado this is the norm rather than the exception. I went to cracks and racks and they drill into the chip and fill it with epoxy and it retains the structural integrity of the windshield. Little different situation than yours but it hurts to have the prestiness of a new Jeep blemished.

What caused the crack? If something hit your windshield, it's on you. But, if it cracked due to a manufacturing flaw in the glass, or stress from improper assembly, that's on Chrysler. Don't let the dealer snow you if there isn't clear evidence of an external cause of the crack!

When I specifically knew something hit my windshield, such as a stone flying up from the car in front of me while I was driving, my insurance covered it. Maybe you'll get some type of coverage, it seems it would be either a stone flying up, or a manufacturer's flaw.

Did you by chance have it on full defrost? I have read on other forums that this will attribute to a crack in the windshield due to the design. I really dont know, but just in case, I always split the hot airflow to the windshield and ducts. So far no cracks

It's a Colorado thing five new windshields on three vehicles in the three years I lived there! The pea gravel they use in the winter is hell on glass but I would still rather live there then anywhere else

I had it on full defrost. Oh well, you live and learn. It is unsightly having a jeep with 300 miles and a nice crack in the windshield. I went tithe dealer and they said it was due to a rock but I didn't see the chip they were talking about. My insurance will cover it but since I left the dealer, it went from 2 inches to now from the middle bottom to the driver's side lower corner. But in a lighter note, I just installed my Cobra 29 ltd classic and tuned it up. Sucks though cause I have yet to meet anyone with a cb. Sucks being the new guy.

Think about it this way, cracks or no cracks your in beautiful Colorado and you couldn't have a better place to wheel.
