2012 Leather Sale

Has anyone pulled their leather out and sold it to another Jeeper? I ordered the leather package in my JKU Rubi and want to get the Katzkin leather - but I hate to toss the new factory leather. Katzkin says they have pulled leather out and had the owner sell it before, but they are in the sales bidness.

Any interest out there?

I would think you would not have a problem. Are they seats or covers?

These are the 2012 factory leather seats. Typically one would oorder fabric and have that taken off to be replaced with the Katzkin aftermarket leather seats. When Katzkins removes them they will fit factory 2012 and possibly 2011 seats ( with the cloth removed). I ordered them because the dealer stated that the factory leather seats were Katzkins but I found out later that those are purchased through the MOPAR part desk afterwards. I tried to change my seats back to fabric inb D1 but the dealer would not do it.

So now I have factory leather seats (or I will tomorrow when I pick the Jeep up) that are perfect, with no home.

Coler is factory datk brown.

What Color?

I wouldn't mind taking them off your hands if they're black.

Did you get them for the side-air bags?

2012 leather on 2007 JK seats?

Does anyone know if those would fit on the 2007 Sahara buckets and rear seat?

I'll try to go by the dealer and get some pics
But they look like the ones on the Katskinz
Web site
That part # is for black that matches the interior of the 12 . No logo ,
When the parts girl called Katskinz
They asked what options, side air bags,
Stitching color, logo? And color, two tone?
They were delivered in two days

Instructions show to remove existing covers and replace with leather covers
Looks pretty easy but I'll know after the 12th if insight is correct
I plan on doing a step by step thread
With lots of pics

could it be Katskinz make the leather option for Jeep??

I'm still trying to grasp the reason for you wanting the change?

you can also go to Shopsar.com and order them. They have a configurator on their site with the different colors and styles available

X2 what do you like about the Katzkins over the factory ones? I ask becuase I will be ordering shortly and now that you can get black I was just going to go factory for $801 (invoice) including seat heaters its cheaper than going the Katzkin route by about 30%

The Katzkins are significantly softer than the factory leather.

How will they hold up to the elements? I was told the factory leather was "tougher" to withstand the expected use of the Jeep.

Hmm fair enough but if the seat and the padding is all the same and all you change is the leather can you really tell? Or are you saying the cover itself has added padding when they are Katzkin's?

Katzkins come like a cover with padding underneath. They take your seats completely out, peel off the curent leather or cloth and put the katzkins on the seats and use hog ties and a heat gun to make them fit tight with no wrinkles.
You can not tell afterwards that which leather is factory or katzkins.
I could not tell the difference in touch between the two.
Katzkins just give you more options.

Yeah i'm with you here. I have done a lot of reserach on this and was ready to go with Katzkins until it was reported that you can now get black through the factory. Now i'm strugling to justify the extra cost just for more options. I was planning on ordering black with colored piping and perforated centers using the factory seat heaters for $1079 shipped through Shopsar and installing them myself. However if I can get black through Jeep for $801 including seat heaters not sure I can justify the extra $500 to go with Katzkins and factory heated seats.

I ordered too early for the black leather, so I ordered cloth with airbags and heaters with the intention of adding the Katskinz,
I wanted leather so the elements would clean off the seat instead of soaking in.

If I could have ordered Black from Factory I would have.

I would just get the factory leather and heated seats in all black cause the add on heater kit even from MOPAR will not come with the heated switches installed in the blanks area around your gear shifter, they will install in your cup holder area.

Plus katzkins can take 1 to 2 weeks to make and deliver and install takes about 4 to 6 hours.

Here is a nice pdf that shows just what you have to do to install the heated seats yourself.
To much work let the factory do it.

Hey, if the OP thinks the Katzkins are that much better and wants to burn his money on new leather, it's his choice. Someone else can reap the benefits!

I agree I am going with factory installed seat heaters either way. They are cheaper than aftermarket and use the factory switches.

Are the new black leather seats all black or do they have another color for the pin striping around them? Anyone have any pics?
