2012 Manual Transmission ans Crossmember?

I picked up my 2012 about 4 weeks ago and I love it!

Yesterday my cousin picked up his 2012 and other than the color and the transmission they are the same.

Both are Rubicon Ultd. Same options for towing and gearing.

After crawling under them to explore we notice that his, the Automatic has this additional crossmember support in front of the main cross member, but mine the manual does not.

I searched but could not find anything but then that one post is now ridiculous 11k+ posts!

Does anyone know if this is normal?

Probably the auto requires more support than the manual/clutch combo.
Could be way of base here, just bored and figure I'd take a stab at it

That is the "skid bar" that replaced the skid plate on auto trans models in 2011 & 2012.

Manual trans models do not have a bar or plate from the factory.

OK, I guess. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

The auto transmission sits quite a bit lower than the manual, thus the reason for skid protection.

You manual trans probably doesn't need the plate or bar, but I'm sure serious off-road, or rock-crawlers add some sort of skid plate.

Sure gives you a nice place to bolt on a skid plate between the two bars.
