2012 monthly payments :)

So I have decided to go with a 2011 or 2012 JK unlimited

I was wondering on average...what type of monthly payments do you pay to finance your car?

Just to get an idea of what is acceptable

If money is not much difference get the 2012, the new motor is worth it...

Whatever you can afford is what is acceptable. Don't fall for the monthly payment trap with the dealer. Negotiate the price and the financing separately.

I didn't exactly search hard for a great finance deal for various reasons, so you could do better than this, but here is what I did.
Price after taxes, fees, etc was $35,000+. I paid about $5,000+ down. Financed $30,000. My payments are $461.75 monthly.

And this is absolutely correct. I just wanted to throw some numbers at you since that is what you asked for.

Acceptable to me may not be for you. As already stated forget the monthly payment game. Pick your jeep and options, then negotiate the price to the actual invoice pricing at a bare minimum. If your salesman will not budge then join treadlightly.org and get a control number for 1% below invoice. Now find out what financing promos are available and see if you qualify.

F*ck a monthly payment....

Save up, pay cash....(plus trade-in)....UNLESS you are getting 0% financing....

Interest rates are so low in money markets that you can't even beat the spread by borrowing at a lower interest rate than you are earning...

It is actually one of the reason why I'm considering getting a Jeep right now... It isn't like I'm making bank of the 0.8% interest I'm getting....

Open up Excel and use the PMT function. You can vary down payments, interest rates, and number of payment periods to get an idea of what you're going to be facing.

Or, like Panthermark said: pay cash
