2012 new jeep noises

Hey all

new to these here forums..
new jeep owner and i have a question...

love my 2012 2door sport however i notice a a bit of a"thunk " sound when i reverse or put gear into drive.. the dealer said they couldnt find any problem and the brakes are fine...

usually backing out in reverse when i press the brake i hear a slight grinding/ thunk sound and and briefly when i put it into drive...

its an automatic...

has any one had this issue and should i be concerned?

only have 900 miles on it so far..

I have a 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Sport and I have the same "thunk" sound when switching to reverse. Its especially load when the engine is cold.

I still have an unexplained "clunk" from the
Front.

I think it's the body flexing.

You are right. Just one of those little quirks
of a wrangler

Would not worry too much

Also check the flares are tight. Sometimes the clips come loose and they can move around.

I had an S2000 years ago that would thunk as soon as you started to back up. Took forever to figure it out, but the castle nuts on the ends of the axle would shift over just a little against the stakes with the change in direction.

It never caused any issues and didn't seem to be at risk of coming loose but it bugged me so I replaced the stake nuts and never heard it again.

I'll bet that is what you have going on, especially if the sound is only coming from one corner of the Jeep. Does it happen with the tires off of the ground?
