2012 Noob Thoughts and Questions

Thanks to all of you for great info, it has saved me time and money. I bought a Sport to function as a 2 seat convertible, light tow vehicle, and snow storm vehicle. For the 1st couple of years, I plan on mild trails only, then I will start some significant modifications to keep interest.

Question: What is the standard gearing on the 2012 Automatic. I have seen conflicting information betweeen 3.21 and 3.73, even in same posts. Is there a definitive source?

Here is some feedback on purchases:

1. Thule Spare Me Bike Carrier: Excellent purchase. Does not interfere with tailgate operations and you have a bike mounted in seconds. Stock spare is the largest tire supported by this carrier.
2. Hitch: A 4-5" drop is good for most light trailering applications.
3. Trektop NX: I just put it on. There was some confusion on the install but info from the forum was great. Great for my favorite configuration: Doors off, Sunrider open, side windows on, back window off. As a safari top, there seems to some issues around the back bar staying place. Many forums on this and I can see where it would be an issue.

Overall 2012 road performance has been excellent. Anyone riding in it has been very surprised by how nice it rides, its power and refinement. I am a bit worried about the undercarraige being ready for 5+ trails, too many exposed key areas. By the time I am doing heavy trails, I hope that skid plate packages solve these issues.

Get your 'build sheet' from Chrysler here: Contact Jeep

Or,

A. If you have 225/75/16 tires, and:

1. you turn ±1850 RPM at 60 MPH, you have 3.21s
2. you turn ±2150 RPM at 60 MPH, you have 3.73s

B. If you have 255/70/18 or 255/75/17 tires, and:

1. you turn ±1675 RPM at 60 MPH, you have 3.21s
2. you turn ±1950 RPM at 60 MPH, you have 3.73s

Looks like I have the 3.21s. Tach showed about 1700 at 60 with 255/75/17 tires. Not that I am going to be a big rock crawler, but I was hoping for the 3.73. I really like how it performs day-to-day regardless. Thanks for the quick answer.
