2012 - should I get the life time warranty

I just bought a 2012 Rubicon. What are the thoughts around the life time warranty? $2500!

My wife has a 2008 dodge with the lifetime warranty. It only covers defects not worn out items. So if the tranny goes out or the engine needs replaced at 200k they are not necessarily going to replace it. They will only replace items that you can prove should have lasted longer. At least that's my understanding...

2008 supercharged sahara JKU, gibson exhaust, 3" lift, 5.13 gear ratio, 33" toyo AT, 17" MKWs, electronic sway bar disconnect, AEV bumper with warn 9.5ti and skid plate, AEV heat reduction hood, garvin expedition rack, piaa roof/pillar/winch lights, cobra cb, tow package... and a few other mods

Read the warranty. No, not a smart alec answer....

Basically if you mod it, you are not covered in certain areas. I have the warranty and my 4 wd selector went out on us. They covered the selector repair under warranty but charged me to R & R my aftermarket skids. Basically the only thing that is covered right now on my rig is the engine, T-case, transmission, an innerds.

Some dealers are more mod friendly than others have to check with your local peeps on how that rolls in your hood.

Best way to decide is to ask yourself if your gonna keep the jeep for a long time keeping in mind mileage, body condition and your want for a newer vehicle. I thought I was gonna keep my 08 JKU forever and I just traded it for a 12 altitude with the newer motor. I still have my 03 ford f250 I bought new.

If you aren't pretty sure you are going to keep the vehicle a long time, you might be better off with the 7 year warranty instead of the lifetime; it's transferable, which helps resale, while the lifetime is not.

That said, I'm definitely buying the lifetime warranty. But don't pay $2500. You can get it for $2000 from CHRYSLER SERVICE CONTRACTS: Extended Warranties from Chrysler. SAVE 60%! Quick Quotes. Buy Online.

i went with the 100k warranty since i dont plan on keeping my 2012 jk longer than that. the lifetime is non transferable while the others are. to me there was more value in not getting the lifetime one.
