2012 Sport vs Sahara?

Jeep newbie, could someone tell the differences between the 2 Unlimited models? There is a $4000 difference here in Canada.

Sahara is just a body style/trim package, but you could option a sport to cost the same or more than a Sahara.
Up to you

Sahara is just an upgraded trim package. Just about everything could be ordered on a Sport with the exception of body colored fender flares, bumper trim, interior dash accents, and 18" wheels with Bridgestone Dueler tires.

I think you also get more features and user controls on the vehicle information system. For example, I can turn on and off the vehicle horn when I lock the vehicle. My brothers sport don't have that option.

Yeh, it saves you the annoyance of having to go to the dealership every time you want one of these settings changed.

Yes it does. He needs to download his owners manual, but my recollection is that you do it by pushing in a sequence on your key fob.

I just picked up a unlimited sport ONLY because it had a bunch of good options in it.. Uconnect, dual tops, larger tires, trim package plus a bunch more. My only missing piece which I will miss is heated seats. Love the vehicle tho.

Here you go: (http://www.quadratec.com/products/14159_101.htm)

About $200 and a couple of hours, and you'll have heated seats.

There are a few things that I *think* are only available for the Sahara (and Rubicon) that you can't get on the Sport: Automatic Headlamps, 115-Volt Auxiliary Power Outlet, Body Color Fenders and hard top. Back when I was looking, I didn't see a window sticker for a 2012 JKU Sport that had any of those in the Dallas area. Maybe you could order it from the Factory with them but not in the wild.

No hard top on a Sport? That could be a deal breaker.

You can get hardtops on a sport.

He means you can't get a "body color" hardtop on a sport--ie, a hardtop that matches the body. For sports, any hardtop you order will be matt black, whereas for Rubis and Saharas you can get matt black or body color.

Thanks, wouldn't want or pay for the body colour hardtop.

you also cannot get nav on the sport. the trim around the vents and grab handle are dull gray on the sport, where they're shiny on the sahara.

just minor things.

A Sport can be optioned to the approximate level of a Sahara and you will save a couple grand in the process - not to mention you won't be stuck with those nasty painted fenders and bumper accents.

However, you will be limited on some of the additional options you can order. For example you can't order the in-dash GPS, or auto climate control in the Sport models.

Unless you are really sold on body color fenders or tops I think a well optioned Sport S is the way to go, then you can put the savings into mods. Of course I'm a little biased...
