Yes, I'm sure the vehicle is capable of 1000+ lbs in normal operation. The door panel value (850 lbs) is to cover themselves in the case of some component failure (brakes, steering, suspension etc.) in a crash where they could show that the cargo + passengers loading was higher.
To muddy things even further, I found another value online at http://www.media.chrysler.com/dcxms/...nltd_Specs.pdf
which shows 892 lbs (see last table).
I guess as far as we're concerned the max payload value is "only a suggestion".
