2012 Vacuum Canister behind front bumper

Iím just looking for some observations. I have been searching and reading as many threads as I can with respect to the vacuum canister mounted behind the front bumper causing a little grief when you go to add a winch mount. Has anyone moved this canister? And if so where too. I know that some manufactures have already modified their winch mounting plates and are suggesting relocating this canister. My concern is, is there a specific reason it was mounted where it is or was that the only spot left? I would hate to relocate something that was not meant to be relocated. Any ideas would be great, thanks in advance.

I don't have too much info, other then when I contacted LoD Offroad about purchasing a front bumper they said I needed to specify it was for a '12. They will then include a relocating kit to move the canister. Bumper hasn't arrived yet so I don't know where it's being relocated to.

I was just speaking with my nephew overseas about this.
He's getting a 2012 JK Rubicon when his tour is over, and he's already purchased a front bumper.

We're not sure how we'll handle this when install time comes, so I'm curious too.

I am the one over seas and I personaly have not had the chance to actualy get eyes on this bumper situation yet. From my understanding all the bolts still line up for the actualy bumpers. As for the vaccum canister every single company I have researched or talked to has said the same thing all you need is bracket to slightly move / or change the direction that the canister sits. Overall moving should not change anything especialy if its using the existing wiring with a new location.

I installed a Bestop HighRock bumper a few weeks ago on my '12 Rubi. It bolted right up without having to relocate the canister.

AEV did a great job of moving it. They made a small bracket that mounts to the winch plate and gives enough room, works great.

Thanks for all the responses, I actually took the cowling on the top of the bumper last night to take a look at things first hand and yes all the same mounting holes are still where they need to be. Does not seem to be as much of an issue as I thought it was. Thanks Merlinn, I ordered the AEV bumper with the 2012 winch plate today.
Temperedphenix, be safe. I just came back a couple of months ago, I was serving with 10 Mtn Div, RC(S) HQ.
Cheers

Most bolt up just have clearance issues, and when adding a winch. I just put a LoD on mine looks Great! But the Pump is in the way so you have to relocate it. And it does come with relocation mount.

My question is this: WHAT is the canister? The bumper I ordered and received from RSE will not fit without removing the bracket and canister. The Jeep dealership tells me the canister has to do with the safety/airbag system while other shops tell me it is a fume filtering system. So...what's the canister? I don't want to relocate a safety device. Ideas?

Which bumper did you go with? I contacted Bestop and was told they cannot guarantee their bumpers will fit the 2012.

Bumpers with a winch between the frame rails will need relocation brackets.

Might it be the airbag canister sensor?

Tell you guys a easy fix. 3" holesaw on that conner will fix this problem.
I know Iknow But it will work. Unless you are a hardcore wheeler and use the winch alot you are OK doing this. just my 2 cents

It sits fine and clears the tires for great approach. i;ll integrate my synthethic warn winch to keep the pull strong and take the stress off the fromt suspension and route it ti the frame.

Did a trail recently with an engineer from Mopar. The canister is a vacuum canister designed to improve off-road braking. He also notified me that Mopar is designing a relocation bracket to place the canister under the hood...and I quote, "where it belongs".

I moved my canister to the outside of the bumper/frame post to fit my after market bumper which has a recessed winch plate. All is well.
