Most 2012's I've found on dealer websites are noted as "in transit." So they may not necessarily be delivered ahead of 'sold' orders. Still....

I was speechless on the epa thing even though he was speculating. It is not a new engine, just new to the wrangler.

3.21 or 3.73

I ordered Sahara Unlimited, automatic, trailer tow group. Dealer said there is a check box they selected for 3.73 axle at $0 cost.

My order sheet lists "DME" 3.73 Rear Axle Ratio.

Is there any reason why I should expect anything but a 3.73 axle?

Good luck! Are you still in D status? I was (and still am) and it wasn't too difficult to make the change, once I convinced everyone it was necessary. Just took a call to the dealerships rep, then an email from the rep to an Assistant Sales Manager at the California Business Center for Chrysler. Let me know if you need any further info...

I have a VON number now. Is there anything I can do with the VON number or do I have to wait until I have a VIN to do any checking?

I think you are golden! They made the change to their system after I ordered, then defaulted previous orders to the 3.21 I believe.

JBall, this is what I go by, dealerconnect is supposed to be the right info

Trailer Tow Group (AHT)
Trailer Tow Group: Hitch receiver, 4-Pin Wiring Connector, 3.73 axle ratio.
• Trailer Sway Damping (BNT)
• Trailer Tow w/4-Pin Connector Wiring (XFU)

When you PM'd me I went to dealer order and clicked the tow group, at that time it automatically "grayed" out the 3.73 stand alone option.

The 3.73 is optional on the manual trans for the Sport and Sahara for $50 and it's $0 for the autos. That's for both the 2 door and 4 door.

True. But they are all close. Plus a few of the Jeeps that we've seen pics of say In Transit, even though we know they were delivered.

Did any of your paperwork ever say 3.21 or 3.73 or what made you think you had ordered 3.73 but were due to get a 3.21?

blowing smoke up yer a$$. they wouldn't produce them if they didn't meet emissions because then they would have to recall all of them. they send vehicles to the EPA NVFEL lab in Ann Arbor for cert testing before they go into volume production. In any case, meeting emissions with a 3-way catalyst is not that difficult. It's more of a challenge with DI or diesel.

I don't know what to say. I have the email trail that shows my salesman emailed his rep, the rep emailed to request to add DME option to my order, which was then confirmed by an Assistant Sales Manager at Chrysler as "DME has been added to this order." I was definitely not comfortable waiting to see if they got it right.

When I sat with the salesguy, the rear axle option was changed from 3.21 to 3.73 automatically when we added either the auto trans or the tow group, can't remember which of the two caused the change. When I received the build sheet that I requested from Chrysler, it very clearly listed DMCS 3.21 Rear Axle Ratio, with no mention anywhere of a 3.73 option. When I spoke with the salesguy, he remembered it this way as well. When he then went on their system to try to rebuild the vehicle to test it, the 3.73 was now a $0 option.

Just ordered a 2012 Sahara Unlimited in black with matching black roof, auto, leather, connectivity, Auto Temp, Anti-Spin, Dual Tops, Remote Start & Side Air bags.

I was told that the 3.73 was standard with the automatic which does not seem to be the case. I'm gonna call tomorrow. I wonder if it was standard in previous years with auto?

PS. The original Priced Order Confirmation does not list either ratio. I think the 2011s came with the 3.73 with either the auto trans or the tow group.

My personal belief is that they are having logistical problems moving all those vehicles. Chrysler has been known for that in the past. Oh well, we'll get them eventually. Right UH Bill? Let's take the glass half full approach!

Not sure. My salesman said he would call me when he got a VIN. I ordered 7/14 and haven't heard from him yet. Not sure how long it takes to get a VIN (to check my status).....

If you haven't got a vin yet you should have time to make sure you get what you want. I ordered 7/5, VIN was assigned/D status 7/13, nothing since.

You'll need the VIN. Call Jeep Customer Service ... they can pull the VIN if it's been assigned.

I'm pretty sure it never went to Gibson, Indiana. That's the location of the transfering agent, not where the interchange took place.

Confusing! But, we are poaching this info; I think it's just meant for dealers....?

From what the dealer was saying it would make sense that the 2011's automatically came with the 3.73. He kept saying he was sure that it had 3.73. I guess what he isn't taking into consideration is that it is a different transmission from last year. Maybe this is why some other people are having trouble.

Bill, it is possible you will be the first to receive a 2012. I know several are closer but will be out of the area when theirs arrives. I don't know the twitter lingo..but I do know that a twit in our lingo is a slur. Regardless, I doubt the highball express is going to pass yours. The Jeep deities appear to be on your side.
