I have another question on this: My current lease on my 2008 GC is up the end of July. I was planning on ordering a 2012 wrangler as soon as I can. As I understand it I will qualify for the $1000 loyalty discount. If my dealer can not
or will not write the order this soon how much time after my lease turn in will I be able to use the loyalty bonus?? I also plan to use the TL discount.
thanks,
Barrier

You still get 2% under as long as you have a TL/Friends and family/affiliate rewards number.

2011s have the 1000 lease loyalty, I doubt you will see that on the 2012s when they first come out. I won't know until they are built and some are on the grounds.

You have 90 days after turning in the leased Gc to get the 1000 lease loyalty.

Pat what, if any, other charges will be applied? I know there would be tax, license, and probably a doc fee but do you add other fees like some dealers? I have seen things like $299 Tint, $199.95 Z-tech (Paint Sealant), etc. While this is ok if you want the feature it seems a little over the top if you don't. Also while I get that most dealers charge a doc fee i've seen some as high as $395 which seems excessive almost like markup to me
Thanks

Personally, if any dealer even suggested, or tried to charge a $400.00 "doc fee", I would walk out the door, and NEVER go back!!!!!!!!

I feel really certain. The guy I talk to at the Midwest HQ is a really great guy and has been at his current position for a long long time. He pretty much knows everything. Could he be wrong? I guess, but I don't think he would give me info knowing I was going to post it here. Not unless he wants to make me look like an idiot. But since he always helps me with other things I'm guessing he's right.

It depends, if you finance thru me I have to collect taxes, license and title fees for your state. If you pay cash, most of the time I only have a $155 dealer doc fee and a $10 30 day drive away permit. If you live in IL I do have to collect all the taxes and license/title fees.

There is one other issue but it hardly comes up anymore. Illinois has a reciprocity agreement with most states when it comes to sales tax collected. There are a few states where I have to collect IL taxes and then your state gives you a credit. Those states are:

Arizona
California
Florida
Hawaii
Indiana
Massachusetts
Michigan
South Carolina

Here is what IL form st-556 says

"Non residents may not claim the "out of state" buyer exemption on purchases of motor vehicles or trailers that will be titled in a state that does not give Illinois residents an "out of state" buyer exemption on their purchases in that state of motor vehicles or trailers that will be titled in Illinois.(i.e., there is no reciprocal exemption)

So if you live in one of those states I have to collect 5% to 6.25% depending on which state, then when you go back to register your vehicle you will get a credit for sales tax already paid. At least that is the way it is supposed to work and has for a client of mine that registers his vehicles in Michigan. Best thing to do, call your DMV and ask.

The basic answer to your question BASECAMPER is the 155 doc fee and 10 drive away. I just don't like surprises so I share everything I can so there are no questions/issues.

Don't worry about looking like an idiot if it turns out not to be 6/2.

We're patient.

I assume you're talking about Dick Scott Dodge. If so, stay away from those morons and deal with somebody else. I live two miles from them and wouldn't buy a car there if you had a gun to my head.

This sounds great! Having sold cars for almost 4 years and working with Managers & Finance Managers who tried to stuff people into cars and jam warranties down their throats this sounds like a breath of fresh air. It would be nice to walk into a dealership and do business straight up w/o the stress of a Sales Manager trying to make front money, and a Pit Bull F&I manager trying to make tons of profit on the back end. I wish I lived closer.

Test driving a 2011 Sport today, nice but if I knew the 2012's would be here before September I would wait.

I drove an FJ Cruiser today. I'm not a Toyota guy by any stretch, but it was not bad. I know it's comparing apples and oranges, but the FJ is a substantial vehicle for a bit less money. I'm still going to wait for a 2012 Rubi!! I told my wife that it was almost too big for me to use as a daily driver. I really feel that the Wrangler is going to be just what I'm looking for!!

I test drove the FJ Cruiser in 2008, it was loaded with blind spots, and IIRC is FWD when not in 4WD, no thanks. I like the Jeep 4WD system which is RWD when not in use. My problem with the Rubi is the tires if used as a DD. From what I've read they aren't good in rain or packed snow. I made some calls to local tire shops about Siping them and they were clueless. Still if I buy a Wrangler I want a Rubicon. I won't buy a 2012 until I actually see and drive one though. JMO

I have an 08 Rubi, my Rubicon tires were excellent in 20 inches of snow this past winter here in Chicago.Never had a traction problem in the rain or snow.

Don't believe everything you read. I look forward to snow storms in the winter.

Thanks for the info. I was more concerned with rain and packed snow, ice is ice. I enjoy the winter storms myself, and love to hit the roads before the plow comes through.

You got that right demarpaint, the FJ is loaded with blind spots!! The dealer I was at was a Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Toyota dealer. They had 3 2011 Rubicons on the lot, but not what I was looking for with regard to options. Thought "what the hell" and drove the FJ. I was surprised at the pricing, but it felt too big and heavy. I also don't really think I would be comfortable taking it off road either. The dealer I was at yesterday called me this morning and confirmed the June 2nd ordering date. The more think of it, the more I agree with you. I may wait until I can drive both the automatic and the manual with the Pentastar engine and then make my decision!!

I just re-built my Wrangler Unlimited on Jeep.com and noticed the Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon price has increase $575 and the destination charge increased by $50 since last month. I wonder if this is the 2012 pricing or should we be expecting another price increase next month?

Good catch. Same is true on the 2 dr Rubi. Up $575 on base, $50 on destination. And none of the options changed price.

I never lost by waiting a little. I'd love a stick, my problem is my wife is actually on board, and gave up driving stick around 1987. I could buy it as my toy, but I'd rather not exclude her. That and the fact that I don't want to cast a stone into a still pond. Besides my 88 E-150 is a 5 speed stick and I can honestly say she never even sat behind the wheel in it, let alone drive it.

I think the 5 speed AT will be a big step up from the 4 speed they are currently using.
