As a lurker since inception of this great thread, I want to especially extend a thank you to everyone on here for the great insight.

I'm already on page 2 of a list of mods I have planned... Can't wait to get started!

Here is a little eye candy for those still waiting... I hope you all get your jeeps soon!

PS... I promised my friend/dealer I would recommend him on here (he was impressed I knew more about the 12's than all of his floor guys). Helfman Jeep, Dodge, & Chrysler in Houston (I-10 & Silber). They were extremely helpful and made the car buying experience painless and fun! I live in Dallas, but he made sure that didn't make it any different than ordering from the dealership. I will definitely take my business to them in the future!
Congratulations.

So who's got the best insurance rates? I'm calling around, but figures y'all would know best who to go with. Strikes against me include speeding tickets (10/2010 and 6/2011) and an "at-fault" (my aunt fanny) accident 4/2011. I'm currently looking at Progressive with $361/month!!!!!!

I got mine at Farmer's yesterday for $61/month. That also has our 4 other cars, boat and house on it so there's a sizable multi policy discount.

Wow!! That's crazy!! I'm going through Allstate at about $60 a month. I don't have any kind of strikes. I would be calling around.

The worst part about all of this and the waiting, it's killed my excitement over getting a Jeep... I'm at that stage where I'm wondering what the heck Chrysler is doing? Why is it taking them so long to get the Jeeps shipped to people? This is bad, very bad....

This is the trick, particularly the house. My wife and I rented for about 3 years after college to save up for a down payment on a house. We were worried about the house payment until we crunched the numbers. Between ditching the mini storage we had to have and our insurance dropping by a monumental sum, I think the house is cheaper than the duplex was and we have twice as much room.

I'm a little younger but I too have 3 vehicles and my home owners insurance with Allstate. I have checked around but really couldn't find cheaper rates. I have also been with them since 1998.

Ok so this morning when I went out to the Jeep, I hit the unlock button on the fob and nothing happened. It wouldn't react to unlocking or even locking again. I opened the door (setting off the alarm) and was able to start the car. After I got to work, I was able to lock the door again. Anyone have any idea what could have been the cause? Did they not fully charge the battery during the PDI yesterday or something?

Whoo Hoo!!!

I called my sales manager and he said he just got off the phone with plant manager. He said it is on the assembly line now. So I guess today is the day it may be born. So they are actually on schedule. But then again I don't need to worry about Toledo as much ad I need to worry about "The Little Engine That Could." Sales Manager said that my railyard in Rolia (just north of Denver) has a 3 car delivery truck and could probably get it quicker or because it is a SOLD order could probably get it expedited. My dealer is also a HUGE dealer that has Ford Lincoln, Chevrolet and Dodge Jeep all on one lot. Called the Medved AutoPlex.

If dates hold up I could have by Sept 23rd.

I'm a little surprised you can't find a better rate after all that time with the same company. I've found that over time they seem to up the rates a little at a time until you wake up one morning with ungodly insurance rates. I had Farm Bureau for a long time, then got sick of them jacking me around every time I had a question and started shopping around. Turns out my rates had climbed steadily to the point that I was paying double what another company (don't remember which one now) could do. I asked if they could match it and they said my business wasn't worth them trying to. We went to the other company and stuck with them for a few years until they started doing the same thing. After shopping around again we saved a huge chunk by going to Farmers. I think my new plan is every few years shop around and wee what's out there because it seems like every few years the stick it to you for no real reason.

EDIT: As soon as I hit the post button I remembered that "the other company" was AAA.

Did the 500 mile oil change today, no metal in the filter and the oil looked pretty clean. I did notice that the paint under the very front lip of the hood felt very rough and on closer inspection has tiny bubbles/ holes in the paint all the way across. This is the area of the hood that contacts the rubber hood/engine compartment seal. Anyone else notice/have that? I don't know why I didn't notice this before, I think I just grabbed the hood in the right area to feel it.

Can anyone please help?....

Think I read somewhere that if you need to change something on the order after it hits D1
You must talk directly to a plant rep so it could be done, right?

ANYONE?

cheers,
Charles

Thanks I may have to call around. The only thing I have noticed going up is my home owners. But I am game for changing if I can find a significant difference in price

I'm with State Farm in the Bronx and my payment will be $200/mth. I have one speeding ticket in '09 and that's it. The only reason I'm staying is because they have the best bike rates here. Maybe a no name company looking to get on the map might be better. Oh I'm 31.

I think they are all that way, I check rates every couple of years and usually change. My 2012 is $346 per year with $500 deductible (I think Iowa has the lowest rates in the country), I have 4 other cars and a house on it. Wiped out a deer a couple years ago but that didn't seem to up the rates. I currently have Farm Bureau.

I'm paying $308 for 6 months coverage with USAA. Of course, I'm probably older than you and I have no tickets/accidents.

I'm with you. I've checked VINS on more than 10 Wranglers that are in stock at dealers in my area (which is a truck ride from Toledo, not a train). 8 of the 10 were at the dealer within 3 days of going KZ around the end of August. It's now 8 days for me, with a new ETA of 9/12. The memory of this debacle will fade when it finally gets here, but I'll always remember what a pain in the a$$ it was. Are you having any second thoughts about not getting your first Wrangler fixed, rather than re-ordering?
