Well looks like she went to paint yesterday. I guess the early October delivery date may not have been too far off. Hopefully I'll be posting pics in a few weeks.

That would go well with the custom license plate frames I just ordered:

"Jeep" at the top.
"SINCE 1941" at the bottom.

I ordered this one from autoplates.com:
Custom 4 hole license plate frames
There are several other sites if you search for "custom license plate frames"

Things to keep in mind (at least on my 2012 JKU):
1. The front plate is mounted with the 2 lower holes.
2. The rear plate is mounted with the 2 LEFT holes. (That's really strange.)

So my search was limited to 4-hole plate frames which significantly reduced the choices.

My 5th wheel finally got here after nearly 6 weeks of waiting for it. Now I've just got to get it on the Jeep and come up with a way for my wife to be able to lower it to the ground and put it back on again.

Anyone know when the Arctic package will be out? I think I just saw them for sale, or at least Wranglers with Arctic badge on seats was listed as one of the options.

Mine had an error code (BE) that I picked up on because I was bugging them (and I made a change). The change actually cleared the code and I was D1 inside of a week.
So I just called the number, except did "I am a Jeep" which is *NOT* the same. Scintillating conversation with hot models, with your credit card. Not the same.

Anyway, finally moved up to D1 yesterday, which is exciting. JKUR in Dozer, ordered on 8/27.

I'll pass that idea along.....

Actually, I'm sure she could probably do it, but she usually dresses nice for work and the easier it is the better off I will be. The wheels/tires are about 90 lbs and she would have to bear hug one to get the job done. I'm not sure any amount of weight training will fix that.

Took delivery of my new Jeep on Wed night. LOVE the Jeep, terrible dealer experience*, but they may be working to salvage the relationship. We'll see.

BUT ... it's tough to frown when I see this in the garage!

=====

* If you're interested, here's the short version:
  • After originally estimating "between $5000 and $6000" on sight for my trade, they dropped it to $4300 on delivery day. So now I have two vehicles and far less cash in the bank.
  • Called early in the week to ask that they not drill holes in the bumper. Bumper was drilled, they're so far refusing to replace it. "It's part of our process."
  • Salesman got tired and left me in the finance office before the deal was closed and went home, leaving the keys and owner's manual on the desk.
  • Major surfaces of Jeep were washed, but grit and grime in and around hinges and crevices. Roof was covered with dirt, hadn't been touched.
  • Less than 1/4 tank in the Jeep. I know it's not required, but a full tank is customary. Sometimes it's the little things, especially when added to the big things.
  • Etc.
But again, it's HERE and it's MINE.

True. My wife's answer would be "that's what my AAA card if for."

We don't have AAA. They take too damn long around here. Average wait time is between 3 and 4 hours.

Those flame red Jeeps look really, really good with black tops.
And side steps or rails really help as well.

Looks sharp!

My dealer used 4 ungodly big screws to mount my front temp plate - which was just their name in a dealer name frame. Why oh why???

Because it's free advertising for them. I told my dealer no less than three times that it better not have their name on it anywhere but the spare tire cover or I wouldn't accept it. They put a sticker on the back anyway and my wife made them remove it before we signed the papers.

My dealer used those same screws. We need a front plate here in NY so I don't really care about it. I just hate those dealer frames and took them off before I left the lot.

I understand the free advertising - both front and rear and tire cover had their name (and since are gone) but why use 4 screws and such obnoxious ones?

To tempt you to leave their plate on there. Most people will just leave it instead of replacing it.

I've got a brand new 2012 front bumper I would part with cheap...but shipping may kill you.

LOL, I hope you didn't charge your credit card!!!

Congrats on D1 status. Sounds like you finally got your VIN and can track it now. You won't need to get updates from the dealer anymore. Just call the number and provide your VIN or use the Insight link that is on this forum to keep updated on the build progress. Once the Jeep gets to the dealer, go get it.

I told my dealer the same thing, but they didn't give me a spare tire cover. They didn't drill the front bumper, thank GOD! They did put their name on the back next to the license plate and I told them to remove it or I wouldn't buy it. They took it off, but added a license plate holder on the back with their name on it. I didn't fight that since I needed something to hold the temporary tag. I'll take it off when I get my new plate.

No kidding. The bumper comes with two (AND ONLY TWO) protrusions for the dealer to locate the bottom two screw holes. The cheap thin plastic dealer frame kind of flaps around with only the two bottom screws. BUT, don't go drilling more for that! That dealer need to be wacked.

I stupidly thought about drilling holes to mount the top two screws but then quickly realized the slope of the bumper would make the threads of the top bolts visible behind the license plate. I'd get some black rubber tubing or other black spacer to fill in that gap if it annoys you like it would to me.

Sorry to hear the bad dealership experience. All too common, unfortunately.
But like you said, YOUR baby here and it's yours. Congrats!

During the argument about why they drilled the bumper when I specifically asked them not to, the salesman said "We're legally required to mount a front license plate."

I responded "No, *I'm* required to display a front license plate."

He said "Well, we can't let it leave the lot without a front license plate plainly visible."

My reply was "But you didn't mount a front license plate. You mounted a front banner ad. Can you show me the WA law that dictates you are required to do that?"

Him (on his way out for the evening):

I went back last night and talked to the sales mgr. He's going to call when the next 2012 comes in so we can swap its intact piece for my pre-drilled one. Apparently there's a wash/detail and a full tank of gas coming my way too. He told me to "Bring it back when it's damn dirty and damn-near empty."

At least they're making the effort to resolve your issues. That's always a good thing. Look things happen, people make mistakes, some people are bad at their jobs. But when higher ups show the desire to solve the problem that's a good thing. Hope they resolve it all for you and congrats!

That sounds like an invitation to jump it off in a mudhole. Of course that will probably mangle the front bumper and make it unsuitable for the next 12 that comes in. Oh well, they were getting a used bumper anyway.
