Lol believe it or not I was in the BMW. The low tire pressure light came on so I went to take care of that and just never went back home to switch vehicles.

It really wasn't that heavy when I took it off... maybe like 20lbs but I am terrible at judging weight. I will see if I can find a scale to measure it on tomorrow. It sounds better in real life. I want to get the little resonator off and hear what the motor sounds like raw, then I will figure out what muffler is going on. Oh and I finally figured out how to post a YouTube video

I am anxiously waiting for you final results! I figured one of the aftermarket exhaust companies was working on a solution but even better to get real world results for a do-it-yourselfer!

Magnaflow already has a system for them and there's another company that I can't remember that has one as well. Not impressed with either sound. In a sport compact the sound would be good. It doesn't match a Jeep. I'll be looking for something quiet with a better appearance.

Does anyone know why Jeep decided not to put a light under the hood for the 2012?

Probably for the same reason my 08 Liberty doesn't have one. They saved money! At least the 2012 Wrangler with the 5 speed AT has a tranny dipstick, they decided not to put one in the 08 Liberty.

Sorry but I can't get any good pics of the hood lock. But from just looking at it, it is flush against the cooler. There is absolutely no room at all between it and the cooler.

It is a 2012 Unlimited Rubicon, with everything except the navigation system, 6 speed Manual. This is my first Jeep and I freaking love this thing.
Your new Jeep looks great.
Congratulations - and welcome aboard!

You give me hope, I will put the lock away and the giant rivet gun I purchased for now. I was told their are two auto transmission coolers, the bigger one has a ac coil with it. To get lock to fit, looks like I would need to move cooler. Thanks for the information.

My latest "mod" arrived Saturday, just in time and ahead of schedule

I had to have something new while waiting for bumpers

Congrats to all those receiving their Jeeps.

BTW: Who wants to talk me into or out of adding the 730N? I keep going back and forth on it. I think I can get one plus the lockpick, plus a rear camera for a couple hundred less than factory for the HU alone. Almost seems worth it then.

The 730 is great! I have had the Nissan, Honda, and Mercedes nav..730 rules all of them. I wad contemplating lockpick plus cameras as well, but I not sure about the 2012 install...its also pricey...last I saw was $250. + cameras.

I've never in my life been a fan of factory navigation systems and screens. I managed a car audio/accessory store for just about 10 years. I've played with them all in almost every car there is going. I have found the factory stuff is always way overpriced and at update time usually has poor compatibility as a whole with accessories. Say the firmware on your phone changes. For example. Now poof it doesn't work with factory radio anymore. Good luck getting an update in reasonable time from Chrysler for it. Most aftermarket companies are further ahead of the bend in that area and for the same money you can usually get much better equipment. Now that's not to say the 730n isn't a good piece, even I find it to be far superior to head units from the past. I just wouldn't spend my money on an oem head unit. Ever. Unless it was a steal. Good luck with your decision!

I looked at the Magnaflow website and they only show a system for an Unlimited 4-Door. While I want to move the muffler to allow installation of a rear winch, I want decent sound also.

At a quick glance I thought it said MD as in a doctor lol. I'm going to get a vanity plate too. On the 730N, if you didn't get it at the time you ordered, I'd get something aftermarket. It seems easy to use as I haven't even picked up the user guide to sync my phone and memorizing where stuff is and what does what. The setup in the BMW (iDrive) I find to be more intuitive. Could be that I'm more used to it. It's not a bad setup by any means but I'd do something else. Just my 2 cents.

So when and where is the NY/NJ/CT and surrounding areas meet? Did you guys hear about some trails being built out in Riverhead Long Island? A guy at the dealership mentioned it to me but I haven't been able to confirm that.

2 coolers? I didn't know that. Why would they have 2? I wish I could be of more help. Like I said the lock is pressed against the cooler. It doesn't look like the forced it in there though because I don't see any scuff marks or anything but it is very tight. The shots I took are worthless because of poor lighting and I deleted them.

We need to plan something! No I had not heard. Interesting. Riverhead is way out there though. Probably a couple of hours, not too bad for a day trip if the trails are good.

He did mention that it was on Jeep's website so I'm going to poke around today. If I find it I'll post the link.

Mopar hood lock works for me on my 2012 JKU Rubicon with auto. It is a snug fit, but it will set against the auto cooler with no problems. If you are having issues with it, get the dealer to install it.

The EVTS (Electronic Vehicle Tracking System) and data dots are nice. I won't mention the data dots publicly but if you'd like to know more about it you guys can PM me. It's meant to be a secret lol. The EVTS however is like Lo-Jack on steroids. It basically tracks the vehicle anywhere in the US, Canada and Mexico. For those that have iPhones and Android phones you can download the app (Guidepoint Vehicle Locator) and you can see where your vehicle is at anytime. Since most vehicles are stolen via towing these days as keys aren't readily available to the thieves, there is something they call a "Geofence" which means when the owner locks his vehicle, if it is moved more than 1 mile from that location they will call you. If you don't answer the phone or say that you didn't authorize anyone to move your vehicle, they begin the recovery process. It is transferable to another vehicle or another person. There is a yearly fee or you can pay in advance of up to 3 years.

If all else fails I may take it to dealer to install. But then i would not get to use my new big snap rivet gun.

Can the MOPAR hood lock (and the MOPAR locking fuel cap) be coded to work with the ignition key? I don't want to have a whole bunch of keys in my pocket. I need to know soon to have my dealer install this before pick up which will hopefully be tomorrow!

Thanks, Felix

Felix...Yes. You can order the MOPAR Hood Lock and the Gas Cap to be coded with your ignition key. Just tell the dealer those are the items you want installed. Enjoy. I have both and they work well.
