I like my 430N... Nav built in, touch screen, and I love the download-able memory to store music and pictures... I've never had a stereo anywhere close to this, so I'm lovin' it!

Here's the write up (not overly detailed). He has a 37" on, and you see a bit of his tire, with a 35 I bet it's no issue. Right below the post is one from a guy that did the same on the stock bumper.

I got my AEV Rear Bumper and Tire Carrier!!! - Page 7 - American Expedition Vehicles - Product Forums
You are fast. I was editing my post to include the forum link when you posted this. Also, thanks for the camera link. I may try it out if my current camera doesn't do it for me. I'm still hesitant to drill in my new bumper. I don't like putting holes in things that may change over time. If I decide that I don't like the camera or the camera quits working, I'll have a hole in my bumper that I'll have to plug.

Sounds like some are getting their vehicle in a bit over 2 weeks, others more like 5.

Are there planned plant shutdowns around the holidays I need to consider?

If you're wondering why 1/3/2012, it's due to how my state taxes property. They tax you on what you own 1/1 at the end of that year. So if I purchase this after 1/1, I won't get taxed on it until the end of 2013.

Predicting the date is near impossible. Perhaps order late November and I it comes in December, then tell them your on vacation. Or early December. You may end up in mid to late Jan.

However, you can't predict allocations and restrictions.

Wow, that tax sounds terrible. You should move to the USA! Well, on second thought you probably already live in the USA.

so - i am guessing that the license plates rear cameras are not optimal as the license plate is off to the side. That hitch camera is discontinued, but looked perfect, I like the small one, but like those grid lines - damn - whats a guy to do.....

more research......

In terms of the front - any reason not to go with a license plate camera - assuming the bumper allows it?

EDIT:
Safesight SC0302 Micro flush mount reverse camera with drill bit
Flush mount camera - Micro sized
Camera dimensions: 3/4" (Diameter) x 15/16" (Length)
Drill bit for flush mounting in bumper included
18 foot RCA cable with integrated power wire for continuous use, not only for backing up great for trailers
Parking Assist grid lines for better distance determination
CMD sensor for better picture quality
648 x 488 resolution imager
IP-66 - IP67 waterproof rating
170 degree viewing angle
Mirror image camera

something like that, but it come with a monitor - which we don't need

-well looking for a camera has come down to this:
FLUSH MOUNT REAR VIEW CAMERA BACKUP BACK UP REVERSE NEW | eBay

and potentially a license plate one for the front

CCD quality is better than a CMOS and so its more expensive; grid lines I can do without

any thoughts?

The state 6% sales tax is a killer too (although some of that is offset by the sales tax collected if/when you sell/trade your old vehicle)! Then at the end of the year they hit you up for property taxes; the difference between what I'll get taxed on for the value of my old car vs. the new will come to several hundred $$.

I like NC 3% tax plus if you trade any money from the trade lowers the new vehicle cost and tax accordingly.

I didn't do a lot of research on the camera. I purchased two license plate mount Night Vision Bar Cameras (BARCAM221) that have the option to disable the grid lines. I'm using one on the front bumper license plate and one on the spare tire carrier.

I don't need better camera resolution because I only need to make sure that I don't drive my Jeep over something unintentionally. Even if it is a blur in the camera, I will know something is near my Jeep. If I were using the cameras to watch my Jeep when I'm on the trail, I would get better cameras and position them differently.

I have a plate cam and a standard from Coastal on the way. How did you mount the plate one on your spare?

I even decided against installing the Mopar hood lock because I didn't want to ruin the look by cutting a hole right in the middle. I'm going to exchange that for the locking gas cap and fuel door... One thing you can't really see online is this grille actually bubbles out under each slot. It looked in the pictures like it would lay flat against the back but it doesn't. I was worried until I installed it, but it looks great. I recommend it.

No. I removed the glove box and the upper dash area where the radio is installed. With the 4 bolts removed from the radio and the radio pulled out, I saw an unobstructed opening that enabled me to drop the wires behind the dash and into the glove box area from the radio location. There is a lot of room behind the glove box where the in-cabin air filter is located. I placed the lockpick and wires from the radio next to the air filter behind the glove box. That location is also convenient for running the wires for the backup camera to the rear of the Jeep next to the Jeep's wiring harness, since the wiring harness is running in the same area. I'm going to run the wires for the front camera from the same location behind the glove box, but I need to run the wires across to the driver's side because the grommet into the hood area of the Jeep is on the driver's side under the dash. If you open the hood, you will see the opening that goes through the firewall next to the brake master cylinder.

Woo Hoo! My 2012 went to D1 today! Order was placed Sept 19th. One question - It says:

Future - Shuttled to Facility
Event Date - 10/15/11 11:00 am
Location - VASC Toledo Nitro Creek Yard, OH

Is this saying that is when the vehicle will be moved to the rail yard for delivery???

Thanks - What a nice birthday present to see this today! (b-day was yesterday but close enough)

I didn't relocate my license plate to the spare for mounting the camera. I mounted the camera directly on my tire carrier. My spare tire carrier backet is rectangular, so I built a bracket from parts that I bought from the hardware store that wrapped around the rectangle and then extended up to mount the camera. I was going through the hardware isles at Lowes with an idea of how to mount the camera, but I didn't know what materials I would need. After several options, I decided on some galvanized brackets that are used for securing fencing/decking materials. There are all kinds of shapes, sizes, and gauges of brackets to choose from. I found some brackets that I thought would work and bent them so that they would screw together around the tire carrier and protrude up enough to mount the camera.

If you can picture 2 triangles in the shape of an "8", the bottom triangle mounts around the tire carrier and the top triangle is the support to mount the camera.

Thank you. I was just thinking how cool it would have been if the Jeep went to D1 yesterday instead of today. That would mean my Jeep and I would have had the same birthday! Oh well, one day apart ain't too bad

Well I hate to rain on your parade but your Jeep hasn't been built yet. She (or he) is still a fetus. When you get the "I" status that's when you can say it's built. D1 just means that for all the options you wanted on the Jeep the factory has them available and now it's just a matter of getting you in the assembly line to get 'er done.

No worries. D1 is one of those status updates to get happy about. In the early days some have sat there for weeks but we are in different times now. Could be very soon.
