  • Trac-Lok® anti-spin differential
Is this a locker, or a limited slip, or what?

Pff Obama.... What a joke. What does Obama have to do with the Pee-Star? Since when does he care about anything American?

I think it is in conjunction with the payoff of the government loans.

Well, boyz, it's near the end of the day on 6/2. Has anyone heard whether the 2012 Pentastar-equipped Wrangler has been released for factory orders or not? Not that I'm impatient.... I'm just saying....

I still don't get it, we can order on Monday but can't see a picture first? Or paint chips, or any valid information at all but we can order it?

I may be really impatient to get this Wranger ordered, but I'm not wishing away a weekend. Besides after ordering the real wait begins ....

After ordering on monday, the rest of the ordering begins. Time to start lining up the mods...

Duratrac 315/75/16
ProComp 7069
Rock Krawler 2.5" Lift
Nav/Audio upgrade
Seat Covers

Cab Cover (the one that covers the door openings too when doors off)

Lots more. Definitely not all at once.

Putting Obama to one side, surely if Jeep are to announce a new model, particularly the wrangler, surely June 6 is a VERY iconic day on which to do it.

D-Day and Jeeps go together like pancakes and maple syrup, so why not use the day for the announcement.

Just my 2 cents worth from downunder

I've been running around all afternoon getting trade appraisals / glad-handing dealerships in my area.

I just got ATTACKED by a dealer for even mentioning what I've heard about 6/6 being the date.

"The 2011s are still in build-out"..."They won't even begin opening orders until late-July".

The dealer even got into an argument with her manager right within earshot of me about even assessing my trade; as if I was wasting her time.

Way to make an eager buyer feel welcome!!

Pat @ Fields is looking really good right now even if it's a 6 hour drive.

Yup, in fact I just got back from Car Toys. Still trying to find a solution to the 430N being on order restriction. I like the idea of having a built-in Nav, but for me it has to be Garmin. I've tried the others, you can keep them. In my Ford it was $300 to upgrade the maps, just once! I can get lifetime map updates from Garmin for only $69 and upgrade them every time a new set comes out (about 4 times a year).

I found the Kenwood DNX7180 but it doesn't work with the factory sub-woofer amp or factory sirius receiver so if I go that route it will be pretty costly, $3K installed.

I'm almost tempted to order a 430N from the parts department and when it comes it swap it out with the base unit. Since I want the Natrual Green color, I can't wait until the end of the calendar year to order it. But then I end up paying about twice what the upgrade would have cost.

Any thoughts on clear-bra stuff for the Wrangler? I was thinking that might help keep some of the rock chips away. A place here wants about $500 to cover just about all the painted surfaces.

Other items on my list:
Slush Mats
Grab Handles (can't believe these aren't standard on the Rubicon)
Front Bumper
Winch
Rear Bumper
Some type of 2.5" lift

I'm waiting on the tires/wheels until I wear out the factory tires.

Most dealers don't get it. And instead of embracing the new customer, empowered with knowledge, they fight us. If my dealer won't give me the deal I want, Pat will hear from me. I go out that way for a few Notre Dame games a year any way. I'll just drive to Northfield for the pick up and drive my new Rubi home to Jersey! A nice September drive won't bother me.

I hear you loud and clear AgtSunshine! I wish all Jeep dealers were like Pat. Here in Michigan, finding a dealer that's straight up is a real challenge. If they knew how stoked most of us are about finally getting a real engine with some real low end torque, you'd think they would be meeting us at the door with a cold beer in hand.

Rugby/rlast,

If I go with Pat, I'll either drive my trade to him or sell it outright before I go and pick it up.

If I do the later, I'm thinking an Amtrak trip on the 'ol Wolverine Express and a nice top-down road trip home.

Longest I've ever owned one vehicle. And it only has 95K miles on it after 9 years. It replaced a 98 Wrangler when we started having kids. Now that the youngest (of 4) is a bit older, I have the OK to go back to my favorite ride ever.

Yeah, that sounds like a nice trip! But I'd be tempted to make a left turn on the way back to head up the Lake Michigan coast to hit the sand dunes!

At least you have a Jeep. My oldest son stole my TJ and took it up to Michigan State. I'm toyless and going through severe withdrawal symptoms.

I don't know what kind of awards are in the cards but it sounds an awful lot like Pat is on his way to "#1 in sale quantity" lol. Now that I've read this thread, if a local dealer won't give me a decent deal, this Razorback is leaving the natural state in his rearview and heading toward Fields Jeep. Anyone in the same boat can join in what I can only hope will become a convoy of jeepers heading to the promised land

It's amazing how a little transparency and no BS dealing makes us all want to travel a good distance to get a car. Dealers should take note, but they won't. I'm pretty sure I found a god one here in Jersey though. We'll see what happens when push comes to shove.

Depending what kind of cell phone you can just use navigation on it. Android for example has free voice navigation with layers such as traffic for free that is based on Google naps. Auto updates. Always free. Can be altered for walking directions. Dash mount available. And since your phone its one less piece of hardware to keep track of.
