Anyone know if 1st run allocation motors are being assembled in a U.S. or Mexico plant? (hopefully in USA!)

I heard it was a small village in the Mongolian province.

Milous should know...
Half doors will always be available on a Wrangler, just what trim levels is the question.

This is a good point too. If you can tell the 2011's apart from the 2012's by decals it should be included in the wager.

So Daggo66 are you ready? Hear ye hear ye, I DOMINUS on this day the 29th of June in the year 2011 do hereby wager the sum of $100 that the 2012 Wrangler will be easily identifiable from any Wrangler since it's debut by anyone or all of its EXTERIOR parts which include but are not limited to: wheel design, *tire design/manufacturer*, bumper design, headlight and taillight design, body panel design, mirror design, front and rear fascia design or anything on the 2012 that is different on the exterior from any Wrangler since its inception. Colors specific to 2012 will be excluded from this wager.

*Only valid if Jeep lists as a specific change.

Hey we are a ballsy group here as many of us ordered sight unseen so why not add some spice to it. All in good fun to past time.

Out of curiosity, when did they go from the flat windshield to a curved? So far, that, and a flatter front grill, are the only two minor things that will bug be about my 2012.

Alright I'm in. I ordered yesterday. The dealer modified a non-D1 status (was BX status actually) Unlimited Rubicon he had in the system that was originally placed on 6/9. Not sure if modifying an existing order is better than placing a new order but hopefully it will move to D1 soon and be part of the first allocation. I saw Pat's post that 7/6 is the cutoff so I'm hopeful. Kept it pretty basic (except for the fact that it's an Unlimited Rubicon): Black, 6-speed, dual top, AHQ.

Thanks to all for the insights within this thread...it's been great. Let the waiting begin.

LOL Dom, where you going here???? I'm not wagering with you because I would prefer that you be right. (If DAGGO wants to,then fine)

Stickers constitute a change? lol

I'm a little skeptical because I haven't heard anything at all about changes to headlights, fender design... Other than the painted fender thing.

The more I think about it ,they have to make some kind of minor changes to the exterior, right? (I'm on the fence ,what can I say) lol

Well if the stickers have a different look one can easily distinguish it from years past. But it has to be stock though, not aftermarket...... Ok no problem. You don't have to wager.

Stickers don't count IMO. That's how you can distinquish a 10 Sport from a 09 (X). Maybe they'll slap a 3.6 sticker on it's a$$ as it leaves the plant.

I think the big picture is this: At some point Jeep will introduce a new Wrangler with more rake on the windshield, and an overall more aerodynamic body. Will 2012 be that year? No.
Doors, hard tops, windshields, hoods and grilles will be interchangeable between 2011s and 2012s.

Maybe you are correct. It may look identical with the exception of the 3.6 somewhere on it. I hope you are wrong though---for good reasons

Damn this thread all to hell!

What are the requirements for ordering a 2012 rubicon? I think I read a few pages back that a 500 dollar deposit is required. Do they do the credit approval and everything at that time as well? I am selling my VW GTI today and am going to be two wheeling it for awhile until I can get one of these.

From what I have seen $500 is customary but a dealer may try to hit you for more. I had a credit check completed. I don't know if that is a requirement on an order or just a qualifier request.

I think you'll find the deposit requirements will vary dealer to dealer. No financing talk yet since pricing is not known. You can get your deal agreed upon in writing when placing the order though, i.e., -1% -2% of invoice, etc. Cutoff for the first allocation is 7/5 (see this post) so you'll need to order soon if you to be part of the first delivery. Oh...and you'll need to know what you options you want.

Just eyeball it. The JK will be 1/10th an inch longer.
2012 wheelbase = 95.5" (vs current 95.4"). Unlimited remains the same (116").

That's why I'm getting a 2012, 2011 just isn't roomy enough.

Not a Rubicon, but ordered mine with only $200 deposit, no credit check, no talk of down payments, nothing. Verified the Mopar parts and installations can be rolled into the Jeep price for financing.

I've been seeing this thread take off for the past couple of months and it amazes me. I am truly curious to see how the 2012 wrangler turns out. I bet there will be a few problems off the bat because of the new engine. I guess it's just a wait and see kinda thing.

The engine has been in production for over a year now in the Grand Cherokee. But I can imagine that there may be some smaller issues with the integration of the engine or maybe the FEAD (which is a new setup).

That's exactly what I was thinking. Its not a new engine, but its going in a new vehicle. Which should definitely create some problems.

Chrysler has been using this engine since 09,what kind of problems would you expect in this vehicle?

I'm not sure. I really don't know too much on the inner workings of vehicles. I just suspect there will be a few bugs that jeep will have to work on after the release of the 2012 wrangler, just like anything new that is released.
