All the sales guy and I talked about was for a JKU Sahara. He gave me a print out that I have not read yet. Sending all this from my iPad2 while driving....."YIKES!

I was/am hoping for the tranny cooler ... Had to add that to the TJ.

Well I guess I win for being the biggest sucker, because we bought both packages! I should be able to pull my F-150 around no problem.

Not so. You got the best deal! You got the hitch and pigtail installed along with trailer sway control. And, you got the usually $50 upgrade to 3.73 axles for $28! Nicely played!

I fear. The only way we will ever see a diesel in a Wrangler is to travel to the eastern hemisphere, or swap in a TDI or a 4 BT Cummins ... The 2.8 motori is available for wranglers only in our wildest dreams.. but hey,, after years of dreaming wildly Chrysler finally woke up and built the Rubicon,, so there may be a glimmer of hope.. 17 mpg for the new Pentastar looks good on paper.. Wonder what it gets in the real world,, ie, loaded with gear, family, and 25 mph headwinds ?? Diesel motors are so torquey, they will get the same great mileage, loaded, headwinds, or not.. TDI around 35 MPGs. & the 4BT about the same ..... Just have some very deep pockets and the swap is yours...

Was at the local dealer getting things in line to place my order and I questioned the tow options for the Unlimited Sahara.
The max tow group and the trailer tow group pricing matched the 2012 Wrangler information thread.
I was looking at the screen and both the salesman and I were scratching our heads.
Both packages looked to be exactly the same with the exception of the trailer tow group (remember, $50 retail less) had the trailer sway damping and the max tow group didn't.
When we toggled back and forth between the details of the packages on the screen, the max tow group specified the 3.73 as a part number (DME) and the trailer tow group just had text at the top that said it includes the 3.73 but didn't list the 3.73 as a part number. So, from what we saw on the screen, you have to pay $50 more to NOT have the trailer sway damping.
I was under the impression that the trailer tow group doesn't give you the 3.73 on the Unlimited Sahara, but, again, what we saw on the screen said otherwise.
He's going to 'Jeep school' tomorrow and is going to ask the question about the difference between the 2 packages.
Also...both options mention the Class 2 hitch. Is the Class 2 hitch is 1 1/4" or 2"?

I imagine 2". Be surprised otherwise.

I ordered before there was a price on the Jeep and options... during my ordering I had no idea the 3.73 gears was was std on the Rubicons(4.10's were not even an option). The only tow option on the Rubicons was the Max Tow, my salesman said MAX TOW was going to be HDuty.
We'll see, I already feel like I am getting ripped of since I'm already paying extra for the 4:10 gears (I ordered way before 7/7) and it appears I am paying more for a tow package that has less.

I believe that the 'Max Tow' already includes 4.10 and that is why it is called 'Max.' Therefore, you should not pay for it separately.

Google tread lightly Chrysler and sign up.

You'll get 1% below invoice and you can negotiate to 2% below in most cases. Sometimes even further, but then you're into their holdback.

Sahara Tan color - drop dead date

Does anyone have a best guess on when the "last order date" would be for the Sahara Tan color on a 2012 JKU? Thanks!

If it's truly one month, I'd say it's almost over. There are people with scheduled build dates in early August. Production started July 14. If you want it, I wouldn't wait. Just my opinion.

I got $500 below invoice (without any membership or special discounts). The dealership has also agreed to allow me to re-order a different Rubicon just in case I don't like how it drives with 4.10 gears (that just gives me peace of mind). Just shop around and be confident when you deal with them (always go to large dealership that has positive feedback and a member of the BBB).

Then you should be able to get your Jeep for about $1100 under invoice with the Affiliate Rewards program through TL! Dealer would make the exact same profit because Chrysler gives him an extra 2% of invoice on top of holdback!

Don't knock the membership deal, only employee pricing can beat it!

Cool. I spent $60 on tread lightly and got over $600 below invoice. Like UHB said u could probably get even more off and they would make same profit.

wait , so chrysler builds a new plant for a new "next generation" engine for their vehicles and they manage to lower the MPG from the previous wrangler?

Words cannot describe how dissapointed i am.

I would have at least considered buying another wrangler if they could bump it up to at least 20-23 mpg.

17 mpg? jeez , this really highlights whats wrong with the american auto industry, completely disconnected from reality. It would be one thing if this country produced its own oil and we could afford cars like this , but with gas prices jumping up and down from 3-4 a gallon with no end to the speculation in sight , you can count me out.

Here is hoping for an electric/hybrid jeep sometime in the future.(go ahead flame me , i dont care)

What? Lower? Unless my math is wrong 17/21 is better than 15/19 by 10%+

Not a huge improvement but an improvement nonetheless

Expect up to two weeks of QC, and then who knows if they will hold them longer after that. Don't mean to be a buzzkill, just saying that's likely the reality.

Not on a 2012. If you get -3% consider yourself lucky. -2% is a fair shake that gives the dealer money to stay in business with a profit and you a savings that allows you to feel good about your purchase.

Milous,

Have you heard anything regarding on the factory holding on to 2012 Jeeps so that the 2011 Inventory clears out? Or are the holds people have been getting on their orders purely related to QC?

All holds for 2012 models are for QC purposes only.

OK went to the dealer and let me tell you i thought it went really well and smooth

Heres the numbers:

Wrangler Unlimited 24806
S Package 1998
5 Speed Auto 1001
Dual top Group 1620
Sat Radio 174
Connectivity 240
AHT Tow Group 240
Dest Fee 800

Total 30808 (invoice) MSRP 32190

Right off the bat he gives me a price of $30000
Seems good I think?

Well there are a couple numbers on the print out he gave me i dont understand

HB:942
FFP: 30500
EP: 29343

can anyone tell me what those mean?

And Just FYI after he gave the price of 30000 i told him what if I have an AR number (tread lightly) and he said no problem that will just be more off the price he said its a little more than 2% which amazed me. He also said i gladly give the ar discount because we get reimbursed!

SO basically i think im going to get a good deal any thoughts?

Thanks
