RPN516, check out 100% Haggle-Free New Car Price Quotes from Local Dealers - TrueCar - plug in your model and options and it'll show you. i ran a quick check and it showed the best price in my area (northern VA) being $21,887 so your price isnt too far off. the only options i added were AC and the black 3 piece hard top. it also showed dealer cost at $23K, factory invoice at $23,700, and the avg. price paid at about $24K.

So take that into account and see if you think you got a good deal - if it was me, I'd be happy with that price. and like basecamper said, if your happy with it, it must have been a good deal!

2012 JKU wheelp options

I am looking at buying a 2012 JKU but I cannot decide which trim level is best for me. Naturally I gravitate towards the Rubicon but I wonder if I need all that as I am just an occasional offroader. Besides, I have seen tons of photos and articles with JK sport and sahara models doing some gnarly offroading. So that leads me towards the Sahara but there are some features that are now available with the Arctic that I like. Anybody know if it is possible to order the 17" Black Satin rims that are standard on the Arctic and COD:MW3 for a sahara or rubicon? Also, are there any other active duty service members out there that have used "Exchange New Car Sales" for the JK orders? (Can ENCS apply the Tread Lightly benefit?) Thanks everyone.

Not sure on the 2012 but in the past the answer was no on the rims. Although you do see them come up for slae used on the forums and ebay.

As far as which trim level it is a tough decision! I went with the Rubicon for the fllowing reasons:

1) Several features I wanted were only availble from the factory on Sahara and Rubicon (nav, auto headlights, leather, etc)

2) I did not want painted fenders

3) I wanted a solid performer that I will not put larger than 33" tires on

4) After doing the math on the affiliate pricing the Rubicon was approx $3,000 more than the Sahara and in the end I felt it was worth that premium

Good luck on your decision from all I have read on this and other forums you will be happy with any Wrangler

I don't know, but they do come up for sale, but rarely. You gotta have perfect timing. Best bet in my opinion, make them yourself:

does anyone know if the 430N head unit allows you to do a slideshow of the pictures you add to the hard disk drive? on the HDD, i can select one of my photos to use as my default picture, but it'd be cool if the pictures would cycle through in a slideshow.

Unfortunately there is no way to set up a slide show, i think it would be awesome as well. maybe theres a tech guy on here who might have some input as to how to reconfigure the settings in the 430n

i figured as much. probably for the same reasons you cant watch dvds while the car is in motion - if a slideshow was going the driver might be watching that. it would even be cool if the picture changed with each new start up of the car. so that it would be a static picture doing that particular trip, but then the next time you start up, a different picture is in play. can't complain though, i am loving the 430N so far and still learning more about it's capabilities and what you can do using the uconnect system or bluetooth.

on another note, i'm experiencing my first light rain today with the Jeep and so far, knock on wood, no leaking from the hard top.

i've yet to remove the freedom panels because i wanted to see if it leaked straight from the factory so I'll know if it's something I'm doing when I remove/replace the freedom panels or if its just a leaky one from jump.

fingers crossed!

here's some more info since I've had my 2012 (i'm trying to think of things I had questions about heading into my purchase and figuring out the options I wanted):

I am enjoying the automatic temperature controls. just like your house, set it to the temp you want it to be and it does the rest. it keeps the cabin that temp until you change it. it'll varry from warmer to cooler air to keep the temp constant. you can even set the power of the air to auto so that the jeep will determine how hard or soft it needs to pump air out to reach you desired temp. playing around with it today (about 60 degrees outside) I cranked the heat as high as it would go and had the air power on auto and it BLASTED hot air out to try to get up to my desired temp. let me say this - full power on the heat/air is like hurricane force winds. no vehicle I've ever owned has blast air out like that. i was cooking in about 45 seconds.

so there you go - auto temp controls are pretty slick.

Can anyone confirm that the cactus green pearl coat is actually going to be available in January? I see it listed on page one of this thread, but also found several posts (elsewhere) indicating that this was rumor only. If unknown, is there an info line for Chrysler that might know something? I am getting close to placing an order for a 2012, but need to be sure of my color options! Any help is appreciated.

I can't confirm but from my understanding BFG is only green avail now and come Jan Gecko (like a lime green) will be avail. They will be the only two green shades avail for remainder of 2012.

I don't like lime but I do like the mock I saw of cactus so I'm disappointed. Wife is settling on BFG

Ask them for factory invoice or wholesale pricing on doors. They may be worried about ordering until the official 2012 mopar parts list comes out. So you may have to wait. Some dealers will paint, they likely will charge you. My dealer had offered to give me the name of the place they use for most of their paint work or send it for me.
I thought the hard top was a must for folks in cold climates. Another concern was noise. Are those a concern?

Thanks.

I don't think so. The soft top does a fantastic job. My old TJ made it through Wisconsin, Chicago and NJ winters without a single issue. The JK soft top is even better than the TJ, so I don't foresee any issues.

Is it noisier? Absolutely must be, although I have no way to compare and see how much so. But it's not noisy enough to bother me, even at highway speeds.

It comes down to what you really want. I almost went dual tops. But I decided that I wanted to save money and put it to mods. And I also realized that given my personality, I'd get annoyed switching them and the hard top would sit in the garage. Or when a 60 degree day hit in december I'd be pissed that I had my hard top already on.

I'm really glad to hear that! Like you, wanting to swap them out would become very annoying and not to mention a place to store it. My girlfriend had a bronco that we used to take the top off every now and then. I do recall it being a pain all around.

Thanks for the info on the soft top. I think I am going to go that route. One more question. What about snow? Did the weight bother it and how hard was it to get it off without tearing it?

I saw on another thread a photo of the 2012 brochure with Saharah Tan as an option. Its a good thing Wranglers are great vehicles, becuase their marketing/production management stinks. The website still shows Sahara Tan wranglers, the brochure shows Saharah Tan, but the build you own section doesn't have it. Jeep needs to get their act together?

I wouldn't expect too much, they don't have a single picture of crush on their website that even closely resembles the real color...just photo-chopped pics of other Jeeps, its horrible.

To confirm, you got the factory black leather (ALX9) $900 MSRP and not the Katzkins option, which is $1500ish MSRP right?

Sorry for the late response Blue Sky. The snow didn't seem to bother it much. I drove it a lot so, it rarely sat there with the weight of the snow on it for very long periods of time. I'd have to imagine that letting large amounts of heavy snow sit on top of it for extended periods of time would absolutely stretch the top.

Getting the snow off without tearing it was a breeze. Most of the time I'd swipe off whatever would come off (usually with a brush/broom), nothing sharp. IIRC, the top itself would heat up easily to melt it because it's just fabric. So the ice, stuck on snow would melt off.

FINALLY got off my rear end, bit the bullet and ordered my 2012 Rubicon Unlimited last Monday! I asked for Sahara Tan and even offered to pay more if they could special order it. The dealer said that once Jeep discontinues the color and they run out of paint, they're done. So I got black with black Katzkins which ended up to be about $1300. I haven't seen the Katzkin leather seats, but from what I hear they are better quality leather than the regular factory hides. I also got the remote start, auto, side airbags, max tow, color matched hardtop and fender flares, dual top, and connectivity group. I didn't go with the overpriced gps; I just couldn't justify $900 for a gps I couldn't update, or $1,800 for the other one. Ridiculous!. I'll just buy a stand alone for a couple hundred and put the money I saved into other stuff for it.
I'm a first time Wrangler owner. I had a 95 Grand Cherokee and was impressed with its 4wd capabilities. I figure the Wrangler will be even better. EVERYONE I talk to that has a wrangler, loves it and keeps it for many years.
Regarding the price, I actually got a lower price than the "below dealer cost" reflected at truecar.com. I took the advice of others in the forum and joined Tread Lightly which put the price 1% below invoice. The dealer actually knew about the program. Because I'm cheap, I told them they could do even better and they did taking an additional $1,200 off. Got confirmation of my order this past week.
The dealer said 6-8 weeks. To those that have ordered 2012s recently, does that seem accurate??

Hi

Wrangler 2012 with the pentastar is pretty fast, it is about 1 sek faster from 0-60 mph than a Volkswagen Tiguan with turbo engine

I think it may be sooner although it depends when your order equals the line being built. From what I understand, all models are not built at the same time. It may also have to do with the color you chose. I ordered our Sahara on November 15th and it was delivered to the dealer on December 15th. So go figure?? Anyway, your order sounds great and the best of luck to you.
