Chrysler Group created the RHB radio (430N) as a lower priced alternative to the top of the line 730N navigation radios. The RHB is priced several hundred dollars less that the 730N - but it does not have all of the features.

Major differences between the 430N and 730N navigation radios:

Graphics: The 430N RHB uses navigation software by Garmin, while the 730N uses navigation software by Navteq. The graphics and some features are different.

Dead Reckoning: When a vehicle doesn't have a clear view of the sky - such as in a tunnel or garage, or when surrounded by tall buildings - all navigation systems lose reception of GPS satellite signals. The 730N has a "dead reckoning" feature which enables it to estimate the current location until the sky is once again visible. (At start-up, it also remembers the vehicles last location, and immediately displays this estimated location until it can read signals for a precise fix). This is also known as "Enhanced GPS". The RHB does not have dead reckoning: it will display a question mark until it can receive GPS satellite signals and identify the current location.

Voice Command: With the 730N, drivers can program a desired destination using Uconnect Voice Command, while the vehicle is in motion. While the voice command is packaged with the RHB on most vehicles (and an option on the rest), it cannot be used to operate the navigation system - the vehicle must be parked so that drivers can enter a destination using the on-screen keyboard.

Traffic: The 730N includes traffic information provided by SIRIUS; the first year's subscription is free. The RHB does not offer this feature. However, the RHB is able to receive the SIRIUS Travel Link service, with helpful information about weather, nearby filling stations and prices, nearby movie theaters and show times, and even sports scores. The 730N RER radio cannot do this, but its replacement model, the 730N RHR, includes the feature.

I too need a dealer in southern NH or northern MA who might deal with me AND the TL discount but I would prefer the western part of the state closer to Keene, NH.

One more question- I am getting an unlimited sport- but am deciding if I want dual tops. (I had the dual tops on my 98 and 95 wrangler and loved them, but with the top down on the highway it was a little too windy for long trips- especially in the back seat. When we didn't have kids we had a windjammer to break the wind. But now we have kids 8 and 10.

So my question is- How windy is the blowback with a soft top down on an unlimited with full doors? Is it the same as our 98 was? What if the windows are up but top all the way down- is that super windy on a highway?

thanks for your help (and looking forward to contributing once I am back in a jeep!!

Any ideas when Jeep will update its web page to reflect the 2012 Wrangler line up? Also, when do you expect the 2012 line up to be on most dealers lots?

Wrangler Arctic Edition

I wonder if the Arctic Edition will be a package useful to us cold weather northern folks or will it just be cosmetics? Hmmmm.

I read Septemeber for the webpage. The dealers I spoke to say they will have 2012s on their lots in 2-3 weeks.

Agree. I would say September on website. And some dealers have them on their lots today...Very few, but some do. Many have them on the way.

First 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Already Sold !!

The first 2012 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon in the Northern Virginia area sold on its first 24 hours off the truck! The 6-speed transmission coupled with the new higher horsepower/torque V-6 with VVT road tested very well by those of us who just needed to try it!

The proud owner "THNK MUD - BUCK" took it home last night to keep it close to him!

Good luck with it Buck!

Do you think that all the forum members who did their homework on the 2012 months ago, and ordered their Jeeps long ago, and have their Jeeps still unbuilt, or stored in some back lot not being shipped, are going to be overjoyed at the new that a walk-on got a dealer stock Jeep ahead of them?

Just asking.

And, congratulations to Buck. He's a lucky man!

Up Hill Bill -- I see your point! But from my perspective, those of you who anticipated buying the 2012 must have understood the timing issues too! I am a member of this forum because I love jeeps! The fact is that the dealerships get the priority, although for limited numbers! We were very "lucky" to have that jeep here at all. Believe me there were 14 calls about it as soon as we listed it and the first buyer stuck it out and took it home! Don't fret, you made a great decision! You won't be disappointed ......

A few years ago, the Jeep factory assembled all current allocation, 'sold' orders for a dealer, before any of that dealers current allocation, 'dealer stock' vehicles. But, one dealers 'stock' orders may have been built before another dealers' 'sold' orders. [If that makes sense]

Is that no longer true? Or, was it never the case?

And, as you have seen, Jeep has done a brilliant job of creating excitement [=demand!] for the 2012s!

I hear ya. But that doesn't make sense to me. Just hear me out.

You're a dealer. Let's say you can receive 5 2012s tomorrow. If you get 5 sold order 2012s, you instantly generate revenue. You know they are sold, you make money. And you move them off the lot leaving only 2011s for walk-in customers. That's a good thing.

If you get 5 unsold 2012s, then you either a) hope to sell them (yes you sold one right away) or b) stash it in the back because you have a ton of 11s to sell.

I get that the dealerships get priority, but as a dealer why wouldn't your sold orders be the priority? If not for the revenue, for the relationship with the clients that prepay.

Now I don't know how Chrysler decides which dealerships get vehicles when, so maybe you're saying they prioritized your dealership regardless of if you had sold orders. That I can understand, because to Chrysler it doesn't matter from a revenue perspective. But it SHOULD matter to Chrysler from a customer loyalty and satisfaction perspective. So it's still not smart.

The most important thing a business of any kind can have are loyal customers who come back time and time again. And each and every business should do everything they can to incentivize that behavior. Early adopters tend to be those types of loyal customers. It's important to make them feel like you care with simple things that cost very little, like giving them priority, etc.

Then again the current manufacturer dealer model breaks that down because Chrysler's "customer" is actually the dealer not us. And they seem to treat exactly that way with this process. Although they do seem to be listening somewhat to the end customer and some things with the vehicles they make.

Just my $.02

Is my understanding correct that the Sport S package is the exact same price ($1,998 invoice) for the JK as it is the JKU, but that the JKU version includes the power convenience group while the JK version does not? If so, that doesn't seem to make much sense.

The JK Sport doesn't include AC, the JKU Sport has AC standard so the S package doesn't need to add it. The s package adds the power conv. package instead of the AC.

Good for Buck. Damn bad business strategy by Chrysler! We sweat the order process and crappy dealers for 3 months and some schumck walks in off the street and takes home a new Jeep while ours sit in Toledo. Give me a break! Nothing against you personally, glad you made the sale but it certainly tempts me to kill my order.

I'd rather wait... you have zero negotiating power if you walk on to a lot and buy the only 2012 wrangler in a three state radius.

This confirms another lie for the dealer side... my dealer told my that sold orders get the priority at the factory, but this comes to show that one lie is followed by another.
There have been many members of this forum who have had problems with the folks at the dealership keeping their lies in order.
Congratulations, Rick Shannon on making your first of many 2012 wrangler sale, I hope you stick with your customers and give them the best post customer service possible and not be like the ones at my local dealership.

Required reading to stay ahead of the sharks....

A bit long, but worth it....

Confessions of a Car Salesman - Edmunds.com

Written a while ago, but a recent interview with the author concludes that absolutely nothing has changed in most (not all, i.e. Pat) dealerships.

Was really worth reading. After reading it all, I bet my salesman didn't have a clue what to think of me I just pulled up went right to his cubicle and told him what I wanted. After reading I did notice the dealership was organized and ran very similar.

My only hesitation in buying a Wrangler comes with the frequent issues people are reporting with leaks. It seemed that things had kind of settled down but then suddenly I've seen a lot of people complaining about 2010 and 2011 models. I'm really curious to know if they've made any improvements to the seals around the freedom tops and doors to address the issues.

Anybody with a 2012 notice anything different with the positioning and types of seals being used?

Yeah, it was hard not to laugh when I noticed that my salesman's telephone 'cheat sheet' on his desk had an entry for 'tower.'

Using some of their own lingo on them was fun to!

I stopped in at the local Jeep dealer yesterday just to see what the final cost on a Sahara Unlimited would be with options I wanted. The salesperson unfortunately did not have a lot of information. Too bad pricing and options in Canada is not 100% the same as in the US. I can only get the 730Nav for the stereo upgrade and he insisted that I had to pay the $275 for Sirius radio even though I know I don't want it. There were 2 tow group options, one that included the 3.73 gears and one that didn't. He didn't know exactly what the dual top option included. I decided to hold off on placing an order and will try out another dealership next week. The best the salesman could do was $43,700.00 after taxes based on what I wanted. I thought for sure I could get it closer to the 40k range.

Thanks,
I did read it a while ago, I am pretty prepared when going to the dealership and I tell them exactly what I want and I tend to control / or input as much as I can into the deal. I sometimes I fell like I harass the salesperson with all the information and knowledge when I go in to negotiate.
Good thing TL took out the negotiating out of the upcoming purchase of my 2012 JKU Rubicon.
