I know people are gonna defend what they drive and love but after reading this I guess I need to sell my inferior and turtle slow 07 and get a hot rod 2012 Jeep. Is Nascar looking at going to a Jeep body any time soon?

Well 4,300 miles and just had the wipers turn on and stay for no reason no matter how many times i restarted the car. I then got frustrated and turned lights on and off and the wipers finally shut off and has not happened again. I will have it checked out soon.

Driving down an dirt road with the auto climate on and hit a bump and it shut down the airflow. Went into manual mode and has worked fine since on both manual and auto.

Not to worried about it as it is under warranty and I have owned many BMW's over the years that always had to go in for lots of minor annoyances also. I have to say I am not regretting my decision at all to trade it in for my Jeep!! I am loving it!!

I know many have no issue but you can't take issue with those that are having problems. To them they see a lemon. Sort of like the 2007-2008 models that had some piston rings installed upside down and oil leaks. There is a abnormal amount of head issues or ticking issue that many are having serious issues with. That doesn't make every 2012 a lemon but it does seem there are lemons out there (heads at least) if you want to call it that.

Thats not a jealous issue, it is an unfortunate problem. I would bet there was similar threads with the 3.8L in 2007-08. There was probably something wrong in one part of one factory that caused this issue and hopefully it isn't a mark on the 3.6L engine. As with the 3.8, that was an excellent engine as far as reliability. Just one small glitch in one factory stained it for a short time but it was a fixable problem and hopefully this is too. It's hard to say with these new light weight aluminum engines these days as to how well they will hold up over time or how much tolerance with flaws the engine will allow. Hopefully they will hold up better.

There was a factory Jeep that wasn't a "turtle?" Maybe it's because I've always had pretty quick cars but the 3.6L certainly ain't no great shakes!

2012 Sahara JKU 6,742 miles and no issues! Took it up to my cabin 245 miles away and got (according to dash) 21.4 mpg doing 70-75 with the cruise on.

12 JKU and my third gear sounds kind of rough, like an 18 wheeler. That, loving the sh|t out of it, trying to get out every weekend. It just depends on the hand you are dealt, but is pretty easy to be in both camps as well.

Funny you mention third gear. Sometimes when I'm shifting into third I experience this sort of "scratch" feeling; it's not quite a grind, though...

I just test drove a 2013 Mustang GT and it shifted like crap. I did some research and found that they are having issues....every vehicle has it's problems. I was on another forum (non vehicle forum) and a guy just had a bad head on his 392 hemi Challenger. Do your research, buy what you like and take your chances..

Not that I agree with the lemon statement, but I think the motor and electronics failures are what drives peeps into feeling they have a lemon. The problems when they do happen seem to disable the poor jeep making it inoperable. In addition, they too are still plagued by issues that were around back in the 2007 models such as leaks that still are not resolved. Wranglers are not cheap to buy new for some folks and the problems they are having can actually be defined under some states "lemon" laws, making that paticular jeep a lemon by statute. Best of luck to all the unfortunates.

Geez, people get one problem with their vehicles these days and scream "Lemon" at the first chance. Thats why you have warrantys with new vehicles. I guess all cars and trucks are lemons because the dealership service bays are loaded with warranty work. That goes for all brands. When I worked for Lexus, our neighbor Toyota had the highest amount of warranty complaints per vehicle, of all the Penske owner dealships in the area.

People are more sensitive because we are now paying $30,000 plus for a vehicle.

Anyone ever see a study if we are paying more for a vehicle compared to the average salary than they did in the 60s, 70s or 80s?

I had been looking to purchase a jeep ever since I was a teenager. I always felt that the purchase price of a new jeep was out of my reach. Being an oldster with a stable job over the past 30+ years has changed that and I was able to afford a new one, and now a used one for my wife. My guess is that the relative price over time has not changed much compared to the cost of living.

Vehicles have around 20,000 parts to them. I've heard that every vehicle has between 10%-15% defective parts on them. Even if 1% of parts are defective, that's 200 parts.

Dunno how true that is, but that's just what I heard...

Have a nice day.

Car and Driver magazine did this exact study... and what they found was that the cost of a new car in the '60s and '70s relative to average income was EXACTLY the same as the cost of a new car in today's time relative to the average income. So monetarily, nothing has changed. But what we have today are vehicles that are faster, safer, more capable, and more comfortable to show for it.

Well if C&D said "exactly", then I wouldn't even trust that study.

My 2012 jku does the same thing in third it's not grinding but it is a little rough and makes a clicking noise going in and after a full stop sometimes 1st gear is a little rough to get into an it sometimes pops out of 3rd

I wouldn't trust ANYTHING C&D reports on. They're totally biased AGAINST domestic vehicles, in every sense of the word. It's abundantly clear they take "handouts," especially from Porsche and BMW. Ever notice when a Corvette has a fault it's garbage, yet when a Porsche or BMW has the same fault it's okay?

Years ago I read a report on a Corvette C5 vs. BMW M3 and the C5 handed the M3 its ass in every category, yet the BMW won because the seats were better and it had four seats. This was their justification in a contest which was supposed to be strictly PERFORMANCE-related.

I could go on forever with coming up with examples, but I won't. In fact, I cancelled that subscription long ago.

I haven't had an issue with the headlights. IMO, they're no worse than the headlights on any other vehicle, save for the ones with HIDs. I sure do miss the HIDs I had on my STi.

I love my lemon. My only issue was a improperly torqued sway bar link bolt that was rattling however this could have been after racing through some offroad trails keeping up with another group. My brother video tapped it and sent it to his QC manager at the plant.

I have a 2009 G37, so I'm spoiled on awesome headlights. IMO though, there should be no excuse to have a good set of headlights on a 30K vehicle. None.

My only issue is having to work for a living and can't drive it enough. The only time it has been back to the dealer is for its first oil change.
