Argh.

It's threads like this that make me question buying another Jeep, although I really want to.

Reason I'm somewhat hesitant and bother to comment? I have a 2004 F150 FX4 regular cab short-box that I bought new, and have had ZERO problems in the 8+ years I've had it. Gas and go. Even has the original battery in it yet. I was offered over high NADA book for it on a '13 Wrangler and hope to follow through (although I can't get the color I want for a couple months, another aggravating topic for another thread).

Knowing my typical luck, I'll swap the Model of Reliability in my household for a new Wrangler and it'll be a total POS.....

Years ago I read a report on a Corvette C5 vs. BMW M3 and the C5 handed the M3 its ass in every category, yet the BMW won because the seats were better and it had four seats. This was their justification in a contest which was supposed to be strictly PERFORMANCE-related.

I could go on forever with coming up with examples, but I won't. In fact, I cancelled that subscription long ago.

I haven't had an issue with the headlights. IMO, they're no worse than the headlights on any other vehicle, save for the ones with HIDs. I sure do miss the HIDs I had on my STi.

X2.
I love my Jeep, 5000 miles of the most enjoyable ride i have ever had. CR is no longer a credible source.....except for maybe refrigerators and dishwashers.

Yes, CR is another one. They rated the Jeep Wrangler as the WORST vehicle they've EVER tested, I believe. They ranted about how it didn't handle well in emergency situations (which I could believe...), how it wallows in corners (which it does...) and then how rough of a ride it is, how uncomfortable it is, how the interior is "unfinished" and how there is a ton of "exposed" metal. Personally, I like the "exposed" metal, as it gives some color to an otherwise fairly dark interior.

My Jeep's been great on longer trips; I'm comfortable, my wife's comfortable, the interior is fairly quiet (with the lids in), the radio sounds decent, the a/c is more than adequate, there's room for all our stuff, and it's just fairly roomy.

My biggest complaint regarding my Jeep is the (lack of) gas mileage but I knew going in that Jeeps weren't known for their stellar gas mileage; unfortunately I didn't know it was this poor, either, but I'll be honest, even if I knew ahead of time the mileage sucked, it wouldn't have deterred me from getting one.

OOPS, Freudian slip I guess. I meant to type in C&D but accidentally wrote CR. Either way, I don't like either.

I concur about the metal in the doors showing, it gives the interior more character. I too find the ride comfortable but can understand it wouldn't be the best suited in an emergency situation or hard turn. So far, I think it handles great (loving those solid axles, I feel more connected for some reason than most independents), but I haven't pushed it either and don't really want to.

Yeah, I'm interested in pushing the handling to the limits in the same way I'm interested in seeing if the airbags work...
