Does anyone, including representatives from Chrysler/Jeep, know in what order 10As are being built?

I placed my order for a JK 10A as a "PRE-SALES" order, back on 01/19/2013. The "PRE-SALES" tease appears to have no weight. I realize there was a delay in obtaining a VIN for Anvil orders, but I have been in "Production Scheduled" status for weeks.

(Refer to post #1670 in this thread for options ordered)

Based on posts, it appears all four colors are rolling off the assembly line and finding their way to owners and/or dealers.

- Are only JKUs being built?

- Are orders being processed based on a regional basis?

- Are there kick-backs involved to obtain faster production status?

- Are units being built on a first-come/first-ordered basis? If not, why not?

- Are only black interior units being built?

My UPS and FedEx guys are getting tired of delivering accessories that I have ordered for a 10A that is still in an unknown status. I'm getting depressed every time I go to VOTS and have no new information, yet I see others posting pictures of their new 10A. What happened to transparency and accountability Chrysler/Jeep?

PS - Chrysler/Jeep, I am one of the many on this forum that assisted in your survival during the recent dark years...

Does anyone know if the steering wheel radio controls are on the back of the steering wheel? I'm looking at the picks of the wheel, but not seeing buttons for the radio. I believe I read that the radio controls are on that back of the wheel but cannot confirm.

Yeah it should, at least standard for 10A, maybe not all models though

Intake

Anyone have much experience with aftermarket air intakes? I'm thinking about getting the Injen one ... Do they noticeably help with power or gas mileage?

I'm joining some of the others in ordering parts on a vehicle that I have no idea when I'm getting ...

Ok got a question to go with FAP earlier post. I should have read this forum before ordering my 10a but its too late to cry about my bad decision. I went to a couple jeep dealer back in Feb. 2013 looking to purchase a new 2d JK. Actually, at the time i did not even know 2d or 4d. this whole thing has been so very stressful when it should be fun. Never even thought or heard about the 10a. I thought I was going to buy a fun brand new jeep for around $25k which is just going to be used on the weekends since I have a company car and work out of town during the week. The first couple dealers were not that helpful but after looking it seemed like spending some extra money and buying a Rubicon was my match. The last dealer I stopped to look at a rubicon I called about by the time I got there someone was test driving it. I started talking with the Sales Manager who said why don't you order what you want. Next thing I know we are talking about the 10a and he is showing me pictures. Finally here comes my question part. I have never ordered a vehicle before and I figured I was buying to best jeep model which is the Rubicon. So when he was putting in my order as we sat there he said what options you want, I said automatic, Nav and dual tops. He told me the price and the way we went. I read this forum non-stop since but never got into the detail until it was too late to change my order so my jeep shipped last Friday, 2d, anvil, black seats, 430, dual tops. I am totally pumped to get my new jeep but I would have got the tow package if I would have known it was only an extra $300 and I would have got the 4.10 gear if I know it was cheap. So after this long post, question is can I still tow with adding a hitch and can I put 33" tires if I want? I am more of a stock type of guy and would not change the tires until my first set wear out and I probably will not get a small utility trailer for a year or so but for the extra couple dollars I would have added these options. It drives me crazy that I did not check every single available option, but I knew about the added side air bags, remote start, color top, auto ac and even though there are nice options I was already at the top of my budget. I should have looked into it better but thinking I am buying the toughest stock Jeep they ever made that I would not think about these options. Thanks for this great forum it has been fun seeing everyone comments. Good luck!

I know everyone is watching VOTS but I don't believe it's that reliable. I have read the same in other threads on here, people taking delivery and VOTS isn't even showing it built.
I received 4 emails from VOTS
3/13 your order is being processed
3/14 your vehicle is scheduled for production
3/25 your vehicle is beginning to build
3/28 your new vehicle is built

On 3/28 it was at the dealer!

I would ask your dealer for the estimated delivery date. My salesperson couldn't get this she had to get it from the guy that does the actual ordering for the dealership. It's not the same screen the normal sales person can access I guess. Then they wanted to make sure I understood this was an estimate date, not for sure, don't get my hopes up. Mine was due in next week per the computer and it arived the day after I asked for the date. My salesperson was waiting for 5 vehicles that were sold orders (not all jeeps) and they all were due next week...they all came in on the 28th.

Not sure how it works but it's not an exact science thats for sure!

You'll do fine towing and putting on 33s with the 3.73 gearing, and you can easily add a hitch, even the Mopar one just like you'd have if you got it installed at the factory. No biggy. You'll do fine if you go off road with 3.73s also, no worries.

Yes they are.And it took me a month of complaining about the lack of radio buttons on the steering wheel before I felt them in the back. And then figured out how to change from Radio/AM/FM/Sat/Harddrive(730)! I can be slow.

And I'm late posting!

Thanks, I am a stress case about this whole purchase but it was 60 degrees today here is Maryland and all I could think about was if I had my jeep with the top off.

One question, I just went onto the Jeep site and went under the build section, picked 10a and when you go under the power train area 4.10 rear axle ratio is already checked so you have to actually change it, if you want the 3.73. I have contacted my dealer just to confirm what is included in my order. But thanks again.

And the max tow package is less than $200 when you buy it aftermarket. Search the forum for info. You did good with your purchase.

Thanks to all who responded to my urgent need. I will wait on MY order from the factory. Two primary reasons, as one pointed out it's really special to have a factory order arrive in your name, I LIKE IT. Second, i really want to have the max capabilty that i can have from the auto, and that's the optional 4.10 (i cannot confirm nor deny whether future mod's may include larger tires and lifts). Well, really three reasons, i do think the red seats will be worth the wait (just figured this out as i almost went a different route), as they and the front detachable front bumper will be what defines this 10A in history, not necessarily the colors (IMO). Now that i have seen all the colors i will also say that Jeep did quite a job on the 10A, NOBODY loses, they are all equally awesome. This will make my fifth Jeep (81 Scrambler new, 67 Tuxedo Park, baddest Jeep that ever lived, 97 Wrangler, and a 2004 GC), but this 10A does take the cake, wow, do i feel lucky to have its company, as well as all of you brother's and sister Jeepers. AND, you are correct about the waves, as i am a big time Harley-Rider, and the Jeepers are truly just as much a family as they are. Cheers. Gotta ask, Billy, where do you get your hair-cuts? LOL., GREAT AVATAR.

For air compressors, VIAIR has a nice selection guide based on tire size: VIAIR Corporation - Portable Compressors

Never realized that the 430 & 730 radios have been out for over five+ years. Talk about getting old technology. I ordered the 730, but now I am thinking that I should have gone with the 130 and upgraded to an after market. Played with the new radio on the 2014 GC at the NT auto show. That was slick. Too bad out 10a's weren't getting that.

I am fortunate, me and wife have each a vehicle and will be selling the Mustang convertible when the 10A arrives. Agonizing YES, life altering NOT for me. This forum has helping ease my pain, give me a place to vent, and learn a whole lot about Jeeps from experienced off roaders. Now that I have seen a live pic of my order configuration, I am convinced I made the right decision to wait it out. Sooner or later they wil either get the red seat issue( if it is one) ironed out, or we will have to get the black seats instead. And with each week the numbers produced should increase till eventually we all have our Jeeps. Happy Easter to all
Nicely put...., the thread has definatly help me pass the time, but the wait will be worth it once we get out red seater billets

Feel your desire to have your Rubi. I'm in Howard County and it was a great day for open air! From what I've learned in recent months, you should be fine. The pieces you are concerned about can be added and/or replaced downstream at comparable cost if you find you have the need. Where did you order from? Have a delivery date yet?
