Hammer,

dude, my heart goes out to you. i'd be soo damn bummed if i had issues like that with my 10A. what a bad roll of the dice.

You MUST push to get a new 10A sent to you. Do not let anyone minimize paint related issues. before you know it, that 10A will be rusting in spots you cant even imagine. I have seen this first hand. This is NOT a cosmetic problem - it will become a HUGE issue down the road. They will offer to send it to a body shop to sand it repaint spots. Not good enough. you paid good money for 10A in NEW condition, not one that needs work a week after delivery. This is the only way to resolve this that is in your best interest. sit down with the GM at the dealer and make sure he understands that you expect top quality for this special edition (any jeep too really), and nothing less will do. best of luck.

Took to the dealer today, they made a good effort to express the appropriate amount of shock and agreement that it isn't correct the way it is.

Followed by many pictures and the promise to send them to Jeep for resolution.

The issues with the quality found to date:
1. Cracked lip on the bottom of top. Also appears someone tried to touch up crack, paint is a bit off in texture and color. Anticipated fix: new hard top from Jeep

2. Each door frame, not the doors, but the frame on the body has rough paint along the narrow edge of the door opening. Maybe the clear coat but feels rough to touch like dirt in clear coat, sandpaper-like. However, also appears the paint is thin, the paint is a bit absent along the long edge of the back drivers side. Anticipated fix: dealer repainted of each door area on the body, means bottom seams will show re-painting.

3. On the hood area, on the corner tip of one of the pieces under the window on each side that wrap under over the edge on the window side of the hood...has the anvil rubbed off to the primer. Anticipated fix: dealer re-paint of that piece which will mismatch the rest of the hood area as fading will occur differently due to variations in paint process.

4. Air bubbles under my R in Rubicon on the hood on driver's side. Anticipated fix: needle to bubble before further bubble and pealing.

It has been with me one week and a day. Jeep rep asked me what I would need to make it right. Told her it wasn't the dealer but lack of quality at factory and needed to let them know since it is my fourth Wrangler and i have pride in their product. I told them I couldn't wait to hear from their "experts" since I had been waiting for my "life-long jeep" since Jan 16 when I ordered and I would have waited another three months for it to be "right". Never had an issue with my 2010 but cracked needle bearing in steering column from factory.

Suggestions of reasonable solutions? I am sick about this vehicle at this point and can hardly enjoy it since these issues took the magic from the experience, the wait wasn't bad, since this is my retirement vehicle. So I waited a "lifetime".

I believe my dealer will do what they can without taking a loss on the deal. Disappointed and looking for some useful comments that may help!

Suggestions?

All your Jeeps look awesome, and I am still excited and very happy for each of you!
Hey Hammer, my only suggestion is to remember that the only important thing is that Annie still loves ya! Hang in there, sounds like they are willing to make everything right with her, and that in turn will leave you back in your happy place! Or if as CCBB suggests, they will build another, then Annie II will be twice as hot!

Hammer, new top, little paint touching up and you still gonna have a bad ass ride, make them throw in some accessories if they will. Try to keep your chin up brother! We still live in the best country in the world, we are free and have the choice and the resources to be able to afford this Rubi 10A. Good Luck with it brother !

Thanks gents, i appreciate your comments. Mechanically she appears sound, had her on highway today and she rolls!

Rumble , I never just breath (appreciate the thought and will winch you out on a trail anytime! :-) ), i've been shot at and nearly blown up too many times...let alone other significant life events and experiences. This vehicle is my reward and symbol for still breathing! This is why I'm disappointed, I don't get another one! Fellow Americans broke my trust due to a seeming lack of pride in their product and the fact my retirement Jeep isn't "right" because I should just breath. It is a new Jeep! I have not broken their trust in what I do for a profession!

I appreciate your effort to focus me back on the important things, but I feel i am already there.

Archer, please pass my concerns to the painters and hard top folks on the line. This Jeep represents much more than just a vehicle to some of us! Just saying...

Other than that everything looked pretty good. I am going to mention this to the dealer so they can look at it the next time I bring it down to them.
Mine doesn't have a cover either. I imagine others don't either. I don't think it is a mistake.

Thumbs up, man. Maybe ask for a premium soft top as additional compensation so you can let some of that stress just fly out.

I'm trying to catch up with these posts. Yeah the dealer beat my credit union with a 1.64% loan from US Bank. My credit union was actually 2.74% ... but I told the finance director they offered me somewhere around 2.25% but couldn't recall the exact percentage.

We had a good exchange... I got what I wanted and he sold me the extended warranty with multiple consessions. I was going to shop and buy the warranty later after the purchase. I find it's always best to hold your cards, take notes and let them keep talking - it works every time.

NO ... the dealer tried to sell me a Low Jack. You have an alarm, why buy another one?

My 1991 Jeep has a similar factory alarm... lock and activate using the keyfob and if someone breaks a window and opens the door the lights flash and horn sounds off until you deactivate the system.

On my '91 there's been three break-in attemps over 22 years... each time they took off and didn't get anything. The key is don't keep anything visible that someone wants and you shouldn't have a problem.

I'd certainly push for them to get one from another dealer. The limited production may mean getting one from the line more difficult. If they do opt to repaint it I would stay on Jeeps ass about making sure that you are satisfied with the job. I can't just be a situation where they kick it down to the dealer, throwing them some money to do the job and washing their hands of it. Also, it will be out of your hands while they do this. They need to put you in a rental, and possibly pay your first payment depending on long they keep it. I would also push real hard for some swag, extended warranty, a Quadratec girl or something.

According to him Jeep has yet to place an order for any 10A special winches. Also he said that they will not be manufacturing the winch mount plate. He said that the same company which manufactures the hood and bumpers will be making the mount. He also told me that this was AEV.

Now we know AEV denies having anything to do with these parts. I did read an article months back which named the company building these components. I can't find it now and don't remember the name. I do remember though that the company runs under it's own name and identity, but is a wholely owned subsidary of AEV.

So I would say if that is true, AEV is trying to maintain a pure brand of it's own seperate from Jeep while manufacturing "for" Jeep through a subsidary.

I called AEV yesterday also after speaking with Warn. Of course they denied having any connection with the 10A parts. At the same time he told me that the plate would be available shortly through Mopar for a fact (Curious).

I asked if the AEV plate for the Moab/COD bumpers would work, maybe with slight modification. Again he stressed that Mopar would have it soon and to wait rather than order this plate.

So, just as 10A production was a total mystery and crap fest, it seems 10A specific accessories will be an exact repeat of the vehicle process.
Ironic...AEV already has aftermarket hoods with the color of...ANVIL

Arrow jeepstatus.com

Hey guys,

I had a little extra time tonight and wanted to play around with the VOTS response. It is pretty close to a standard (JSON) so I threw together a few files and came up with Jeep Status.

What you get: The raw status code, the official response, and the interpreted response from the list guys like Pat have provided. Edit: I forgot the best part... You can bookmark the link to prevent having to re-enter your information everytime, same way you can the VOTS response. Your details go into the address, I'm not storing them.

As of right now the tool only works once you have a VIN, and unless someone really wants it I probably won't get it to use the VON anytime soon.

I'm dropping this off in this thread because I'm almost positive that we account for about half the hits to VOTS right now. I'll throw a feedback link up on the page in case anyone has problems. If you do, please tell me. I can only test this with my jeep since I have no other names/vins.

If you're tech inclined at all, and for the sake of transparency for the conspiricy theorists, all the code is up on github. I have no interest in your names or vins.

Enjoy!

Wow. I am very sorry to hear about your issues. It's one thing to have this be just another vehicle you purchase, but for this to be the last your are expecting ride into the sunset with... That's not cool at all. I can understand how the luster was removed prematurely. I understand it could be hard to ask, but I second getting a replacement vehicle. If you have sacrificed for our country, it's the least Jeep can freaking do!

Anybody (who was lucky enough to recieve thier 10A) else think 44lbs of air in the tires is too much? That's the magic number that Jeep is recomending. When I try to air my tires down to a more comfortable 28-32lbs I have to put up with the "tire pressure nanny" light on the dash. Not to mention the flashing EVIC warning me of impending doom if i don't air my tires up. I know, I could (and I will) buy a tuner to correct this condition. And, i'm sorry if this topic has been covered already. This thread moves so darn fast......it's hard to keep up (and keep my job).
I was just wondering if anybody else is planning on running less air pressure.

Row 79 on spreadsheet, Bob has every right to be livid. I was getting short with them and then the VOTS servlet showed Paint one morning and it changed my spirits. ETA for mine is from Monday to Friday of next week.
