Nooooooooo!!!
Anyone else with a second opinion please? I was a little concerned about the drive by wire system. I've always driven sticks, but have only driven a JK in Auto. I'll be pissed if the 6 speed sucks.

I test drove a 13 Rubicon with 6 speed, I liked it. BUT liking is subjective

in warmer weather and/or direct sunlight, the heat will help the fabric expand or "loosen" up

Sitting in front of a computer all day + waiting for complex models to hit breakpoints in java code

= lots of time for scouring the web for random crap.

the longer you leave the top up and secured the more stretching will happen. the forces on it while driving will loose it up a ton. they're so much quieter when theyre tight.. def nice, but a trade off i suppose. Almost impossible to make it easier in the beginning.

You could if you shifting 13 speed transmission for 25 years and 3 million miles. The last thing I feel like doing is shifting
x10

Drove everything from 5 speed Mack(uugghh), to 8LL, 9, 10, super 10, 13 and 15 speeds. My favorite was the super 10.

Macks, Petes, KW's, and freightshakers with 1 or two old class 8 Fords. I lost count after the first 1.5 million miles.

The last thing I want is to shift gears on a regular basis anymore in traffic.

Yeah, I'm not seeing a lot of hate for the 6 speed out there. Purchasing decision crisis averted. I prefer a stick, but I understand people getting an auto. They've come a long way, especially when they have what Jeremy Clarkson calls "flappy paddle shifters." It would be cool if the Jeep had those.

Has anyone mounted a winch on the 10a yet?. If so what branch and plate. Did it bolt right up or do you have to drill ?

Covered a bit ago. Also on the 10A mods page. No direct mount, plate required. Chrysler will have it in May sometime.

Yup, and if you are going to Moab you will be glad you have an Auto!

Hey guys a little off topic but does anyone have the Part Number (s) for the "new" rear passenger side tow hook in the 10th Aniversary pictures.

Did it even make it to production should be my first question?

Congrats on all who have or are getting this ride, the whole package is quite impressive to me!

Thought that I would start this thread in anticipation of the 2013 Anniversary Rubicon.
Im excited to see what Jeep has come up with to make this Rubicon "limited".
Hopefully its more than just some AEV bolt ons like the COD was.

Please feel free to post what you believe it might look like or any info you may have on it.

Hopefully Pat will post some info this month on this thread about the new Rubi.

If this Rubi is as great as I hope, Ill be trading my fully moded 2012 JKUR in on one.

How about CVN 69 Eisenhower, since he was an army general, and one of the first Jeepers.
This would be a good.

Don't have part # but it is on mine. Will have to figure out how to keep it with the add of the AEV rear tire carrier though.

I have heard a couple people say the new manual 'sucks'. I went and drove a 2013 rubi manual a few months back, and i didnt notice anything strange about the clutch or trans in general. So im a bit confused about what 'sucks' about it. I have also read several threads with people discussing the new manual and nobody seemed to think there is a problem. So, i choose to look past these statements and judge for myself when i start driving my 10A. Im assuming that if there was a big issue with it, it would already be addressed. EVERY manual transmission is different. My Audi is a manual and drives NOTHING like my manual sahara. granted, they are very different automobiles, and the transmission is supposed to be different - perhaps this new wrangler trans is also just supposed to be 'different'. So saying is sucks, or its bad, or whatever, is very subjective.

I have owned CJ's, TJ's and two JK's (10A will be my third) all sticks. My first JK was the 3.8 with the stick and I liked it just fine. My second JK, my current JK, is the 3.6 with a stick and it is awesome! I don't know where Daspes is coming from but I am about to buy my 10A (third JK) with the same stick. I Love it! But that said it is subjective and if a person expects a Jeep to feel like a sports car with the feedback of say a Miata that's not going to happen. None of my Jeep's have ever had that type of feedback. I'm sorry that Daspes is unhappy, but I bet you will like yours just fine.

Cool, So good that it wasn't just a concept thing that didn't make production.

I'll start digging online knowing that I'm not looking for something that isn't.

Thanks Again!

i have been driving 10 speeds, 13, 18, power 10's, 5 and 4's, 6 & 4's, 8 & 4's, and currently a 10 and 4 and after all day of driving shifting gears, it feels weird to get in to an auto, always reaching for the clutch and stick. after driving a stick for so long it just comes second nature plus better gas mileage, more control and torque, the sheer fun of it, and no burning up trannys in the mud, now for rock crawling i understand the automatic, but none the less the manual is still way more fun and once you're good at it it dont matter what terrain ur in. replace a clutch is easier and less expensive than a transmission!

I'm not really sweating the 6 speed. I've driven crappy autos. I've driven BMW's early SMG on the M6, and have mixed feelings about that. I've never driven a "Bad" manual transmission, so I'm not too worried. I used to have a baby vomit gold '83 Tercel 4x4 with a manual. You didn't even need a clutch to to shift that thing, just find the right RPM and PULL! It was awesome! I'm also not too worried about chrome-bezel-gate, other than it being a sign of poor QA. I'm replacing the shift knobs with red sickspeed ones. TO MATCH THE RED STITCHING!!

No. Unfortunately she died of body Cancer many years ago. We tried to hold her together with strips of steel and rivets, but there comes a point where your just driving around on a pile of bondo and its time to put her down. It was a cool car though. Four wheel drive, without a low range, but a second 1st gear called EL. Had the same carburetor as a Chevy Nova. Also the seats were indestructible. They looked brand new with 400K on the odometer when we took her to the junkyard. Screw Kevlar, we need to start issuing early 1980's Toyota upholstery to the troops instead.
