All my old friends & veterans are getting there Jeeps and the thread is missing CCBB and Parker's venting. I have to admit it, sure miss the gang and the antics we once shared on here. Glad for them but the band has lost its character so to speak

Picked her up last night.. So far everything has been amazing. Driveshaft is pretty rusty all ready, causing a squeak when I drive it but I'm going to brush it off tomorrow and hope that fixes it.. Had some rust/brake dust spots on my passenger side rear fender, took the tech guy about 20 minutes to get off, but it finally did. Other then that, no issues what so ever. Got both chrome knobs, black switches , correct tires on the dash plate, no cracks in hard top or paint issues that I could see.

I know its been said, but its worth repeating, that hood is BEAUTIFUL to look over when you're driving. I can't get enough of it

I'll be taking the hard top off Saturday after a nice long wash/wax session, doors off too.. and a proper photo op somewhere on or near the beach; so look for those this weekend!

More over in the 10A Porn thread
She's a looker! I like black a lot, but already have a black VW Sportwagen in the stable, and really loving my Anvil baby. Thanks for posting her in the 10A Porn thread!

T.S., be prepared to not have any new updates until it's on your dealer's lot. Some have had more updates, others have not. Personally, I never left Toledo until the day after I took delivery. Good news is, it is on its way!

Hey fellow 10A fanatics,

Update on my Annie, she still rocks!

1. Jeep has a new hardtop in route to replace damaged one.

2. Dealer wants a chance to fix the paint issue on the door entry areas. Thinks the clear coat is issue so we are going to body shop together on Monday to see what they will have to do to correct the manufacturing defect. Also a bit of touch up on the cowl area under the window. If parts have to come off and they loosen too much up to be able to paint then not happy. Said if they can't get it right at dealer then issue will escalate and Jeep may replace since the defect cannot be corrected.

Really concerned about the paint blending due to the unique nature of the paint shade.

The reason I'm considering the dealer paint fix, is I'm not sure what the issues might be with a replacement. It may have something else wrong. This thing is incredible.

Any thoughts, can they do the same quality (hope better) as the factory at the body shop?

Also, it is curious that the dealer wants to fix the issue and not hold Jeep responsible. The motivation to take on the risk and responsibility seems a bit odd and makes me uneasy, but I'm not sure why. I have had that feeling before and usually a highly emotional event follows.

Any thoughts why they don't escalate the issue?

Jeep already assigned a "young" case manager to the my issue. I asked if Jeep's Maxicare warranty covers paint, if it does I anticipate that is Jeep's best way to own my renewed trust that the issue is corrected. The case manager didn't know but he offered a number for me to call to call. I politely offered that he find out and call back since he offered to help. Obviously, doesn't own a JK.

Any suggestions? Open to your thoughts or comments since I feel disadvantaged by my lack of understanding the risk I'm assuming in the process of repairing a new 10A! Thanks for your help!

Follow up

I meant to mention yesterday that the paint by the doors might just be clear coat. I would guess it is and if so a simple fix. The top an easy one and is done, really I would follow up with the dealer, but make sure you have the option for replacement if you are unsatisfied. I suspect they can fix you up.

A proficient body shop can take care of your issues with no problem. I wouldn't worry too much about the paint match since the vehicle hasn't been exposed enough for any UV damage or fading.

What I would discuss or inquire about is the rough areas you described around the doors. Most likely they will try to color sand and buff the clear coat in these areas. Make sure they don't thin the clear too much or it will give issues later. If they break through or overly thin these areas make sure they re-clear them.

Straight up re-paint and refinish in the other areas should be easy work on a new vehicle for a "good" body shop.

although this is my first jeep rubicon, i purchased a jeep compass a year ago for the wife (tried to talk her into a cherokee at least but u know women and what they want) and we had no troubles getting them to hold jeep responsible for some of the little things that were wrong. The roof rack was not correct one side was chrome and the other side was solid black and they were off set from each other. a few little other details but nothing too major that was resolved quickly. A relative of mind bought another vehicle from the same dealer, different salesman and when it came to a few issues with her vehicle the salesman didnt want to contact jeep but instead wanted to take it to a different shop to "try" and make the repairs. not knowing any better she went ahead and allowed this and was satisfied with the results. after she told me about this i asked the salesman that went out of his way to help me and make sure that all was right and he told me that that salesman that she had used had some friends that owned the shop where the repairs took place so he got a kick back on the repairs. now not saying that this is what is happening in your case but something along those lines may not be too far off. maybe dosent want any commission out of his pocket or something.

I'm dealing with the owner, he has been straight forward, but something about the relationship to Jeep which is a bit off. Guessing the issue gets some set amount to gain satisfaction and maybe dealer gets the delta? But that is just a guess?! That encourages a cheaper fix for Jeep and still hopefully earn my satisfaction so win for all?! But just a wild guess.

Parker, what is a color sand? As it sounds, sanding with an Anvil compound? I am real concerned about clear coat in these areas since the door seals go over these areas repetitively and high traffic for passengers getting in and out.

Having Second thoughts.... Help?

My two door 10A (Anvil, red, manual, 730N, dual top, block heater) will be here in less than a month. The final price came out at almost 39k. There is a 2013 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Trail Hawk sitting at my dealership for 39k. It is a beautiful/manly SUV. The Wrangler was going to be a third vehicle. I decided to trade in my car (wife has a 2010 VW Touareg TDI with Air Suspension). They are not giving me a bad deal on the car looking at KBB but it is still a kick in the OO given that it is a year old (2008 GMC 2500HD Diesel (4 inch lift and 36's, moved and no room for it) -> 2012 Audi A4 (love it but not me) -> ?). The wrangler is a nice vehicle but then again so is the Grand Cherokee. I will be driving whatever vehicle for 12 miles one way to work down a country highway as I work at a power plant located all on its own. I drive a R6S to work most of the summer. I have two 15ft fishing kayaks that I can haul around in a 6x10 trailer that is 650lbs empty and has a 4klbs GVW limit. I have Polaris 850XP that I use for deer hunting, goose hunting, and ice fishing. I figured that the 2k towing capacity of the Wrangler would be fine and I could take out the back seat if I needed more room. Is the Wrangler going to work or should I take the Grand Cherokee? The second I sign the doted line, it will be expensive to say "oops, my bad!!!".

Thanks! But like Anvil photo's do no justice, you have to see both in person!
