Picked up my 10A today and thank God I had a copy of my SIGNED Purchase Agreement from January. The saleslady didn't work the deal, she just talked back and forth(the deal was done over the phone). We sit down going over numbers and she keeps bringing me paperwork with the $48,045 MSRP listed. I kept writing the number we agreed upon down and she kept taking it back to the "secret $$ guy in the back". I finally gave her my copy of the Agreement and she said "Good thing you brought this! You saved yourself $6,000.00 !!" Obviously the guy in the back was pretending he didn't know there was a PO for the Jeep that they ordered for me...after I told them about (Thanks to this forum). The only other 10A was in the showroom and it was for $$ guys brother. I ended up getting the agreed upon price of $42,874.00 +TTL and the exorbitant $$ they shifted from my trade. We went back and forth and the saleslady came back and said "He won't take anymore off because he's already giving away the Jeep!" So we both walked away a little "Meh" over the deal, but I at least get to peer over that awesome hood everyday!

Edit: And her math was bad, I only saved myself just over $5K.

I just cant help thinking that if your Texas plate got into a fight with our Virginia one our plate would get its ass kicked. It has to some kind of state law that everything in Texas is bigger and just generally more bad-ass.

Not always

TX had great, plain black on white plates for years, but did away with them for ugly assed plates until only recently. Last summer they reinstated black on white. But some counties still have the ugly ones on hand as they won't issue the new ones until all old stock is gone. Luckily for me my county is issuing new black on white plates. The ugly ones were much like your Virginia plates.....ugly, busy and over the top design-wise.

RwislonTX. Congrats on the new arrival!! Sorry for the delay and lack of pics, it has been raining like a SOB here in northern IL. I was able to get a few pics of the tires sticking out from the fenders for you. The tread is pretty much underneath the fender wells with the sidewall just sticking out.

Here is the front

the back

looking forward to seeing yours.

The only time the Virginia plates are good are when someone uses the original lame busy design for subversive, crude or funny purposes.

I just ordered my lifetime max care from this site. $2185 and they offer 12 month financing with a small premium. Total came to $2275

Yes Sir on Tax Day! They say allow 3 - 4 weeks for delivery. Pricy right? I already have R. WLSN on my Benz and "thought" about transferring them over but wanted to give these a try for awhile. Monday looks like your day right?

AEV carrier installed

Got the carrier installed a few nights ago. Went well, some things that I thought I would share.
1. you will have to remove the passenger side rear tow hook, or modify it somehow as it uses the same portion of the frame rail. I just took it off for now.
2. The bolt that fastens to the bottom of the carrier is a bit of a pain screw down since you can't get a ratchet and need to use a box end wench.

Other than that it looks great and works well. I still plan to install a third brake light and some back back up lights I also need to get a set of wheel locks or gorilla locks for now I used a cable bike lock.

Tow hook that had to go:

Rear bumper off and my helper:

Bottom bolt, note the bumper in the way:

installed:

For long term registration it is just $32/yr. I went with the black background with the white barbed wire surrounding the plate numbers.

Monday....maybe. No news from dealer still KZM in VOTS

Fantastic! I figured there would be some major detail that would make it more complicated or expensive than I was hoping. If I keep the bumper this will be one of the first mods. Thanks for posting.

I know it would be unsafe, silly and pointless, but it would be cool if the Glock became the transfer case shift lever.

Also, have you seen the tuffy under seat concealment drawer. They're pretty nice. I ordered one, and since my Jeep wasn't in, I installed it on a friends jeep and ordered another. Not as quick as that, but it makes a nice secure place to put your piece.

Very cool! And which letters? They have a Layaway program also crazy! AND the plates on my Benz must be Grandfathered as they are still only like $40. Extra a year?

after market hitch install

A big thank you to this forum for saving me from spending $400+ for the max tow package. I never intended to tow with this as I have the Suburban for that but I did need a way to mount my bike rack (hitch mounted style that the bike stand up on). I learned of aftermarket hitches that are much cheaper and mount to the existing frame holes. Cool, or so I thought, I planned to install it when I mounted the tire carrier, and noticed that the 10A bumper is mounted differently than the stock JK bumper. The 4 center bolts that I presume are not used in the stock bumper actually hold the bumper to the frame on the 10A. Those of us with out the hitch they use a pc of flat steel to take up the space. Problem is that the draw-tite hitch that I bought had nuts welded on the back side to tie it to the frame. Simple fix was to grind the nuts off and give it a shot of paint to prevent rust. I then simply took the 4 bolt out, removed the shim and installed the hitch. The one I got sticks out from the bumper more than the stock one and I wanted that to give the bike some clearance from the tire.
Just wanted to let anyone know if they plan on installing a hitch you will have to modify it to work.

Finished product:

I see that is xtreme outfitters. I was confusing that with extreme outfitters a place we had in Virginia Beach where SEALS bought a lot of their stuff. I couldn't find the mount on their site, but its just the kind of thing they would sell.

Here is a link to the Jeep xtreme outfitters if anyone else is interested
