Very pleased this forum is so active and informative. All of you have make this thread awesome. Funny story, at 46 I decided it was time to buy my first new car. Of all the cars to choose from, the Jeep was my pick. At first, I was going to wait and order a 2014 model. I looked at configurations, options, photos and not unlike Dexter on Dexter's Laboratory, exited the smoke filled lab with the perfect Jeep for me (Gecko or Rock Lobster MOAB) or so I thought. The plan was set, continue saving, order a 2014, cash on delivery and DONE.
So, with my mind made up, I took to the streets to see this perfect Jeep. What looked perfect for me on paper was more like a bad lab experiment. The bumpers were awesome, the hood was cool but not exactly what I imagined. The all black wheels were cool but didn't set the truck off like I wanted and they are paired with a more narrow Kevlar tire. I kept focusing on the unique black Jeep logo and the limited edition but all of the other things that didn't fit my taste. So, I gave my brain a rest and after several more weeks I returned to the MOAB for a test drive. While on the dealer lot, I saw this Billit Silver 4-door Rubicon with a painted top and fenders. The silver wheels nicely accented the color and the combo was awesome. My passing thought, I do like silver but wish there was something a little different (lol remember, I was going for Lobster or Gecko). I drove the Rubicon and fell in love.. Fun to drive and just what I expected in a Jeep. I went home to search and research. Went to the Build a Jeep configurator for the millionth time and clicked the 10a radio button. I had looked at the 10a before but had not spent any time with Rubicon because I thought it was a little more off road than my needs dictate, but what the heck. I was pumped about silver, liked the wheels a lot, different bumpers, cool tires (everything you folks have commented on). But I wanted a different kinda color.. I clicked through the colors again looking at the Jeep configurator (Dark Gray, Silver, Black, White). Then I google searched the vehicle which brought me to this forum and saw the photos of the Anvil color... and, after spending my first 20+ years working in a family owned Chrysler dealership, that young man made the statement “I would never own a new car” has at 46 been persuaded by the Anvil Jeep to do a complete 180 and special ordered my first new vehicle.

Hey, my dealer is offering me lifetime maxcare, $100 deductible for $2,385. Good deal? Mopar site shows it at $4,260. Dealer said they normally sell it on a Wrangler for around $3,200. I looked at the coverages on MaxCare and don't see anything on the Navigation? Uconnect yes, Bluetooth yes, radio's/CD yes, but don't see specific mention of the Navigation. Anyone with input on the above i'd appreciate it as i need to make a decision pretty quick. Thanks, and congrats to everyone on delivery, and those waiting will be happy. I took delivery a week ago today and am still estatic!

Nice, I am the same way, grew up in an auto repair family. Thought I would never buy a new car. But here I am at 42 and in love with the 10A. Should have it next week!

Wow. I just love the two door stock look. I got billet as I was nervous about initial anvil pics (blue gate). Now that I have seen a couple in person at my dealer, I really do like it. The four doors are cool as well (and family functional) but I think the unlimited needs at least 35s to look proportional.

SO EXCITED TO SEE MY NAME ON A WINDOW STICKER.

maybe i can test out those new mud tires in snow... no, these pictures arent from a beautiful snowy day in Jan/Feb. This was thursday, April 18 in my driveway. I have doubts we'll ever see a real spring here. ugh.

It just dumped some snow in MN, I would assume there, if this is an old photo... Could be Alaska

You might have to, supposed to snow until Tuesday. My sister-in-law has been texting me about how bad the weather has been there.

But after driving the jeep for 100 miles I noticed the black vents in the hood are not seated equally. Its a matter of if you push down the front end, then the back end sticks up not flush with the hood. And they are flush with the hood on opposite ends. I may try to flush them up, but its no biggie. Unless they are the cause of the "tinny, high pitch" wind noise coming from the hood. My previous JKs didn't make that noise. Again, no biggie.
Underside is the nicest/cleanest I have seen on any jeep in person. light surface rust on the driveshaft and that was it. IMHO, Jeep has hit a home run on the 2013. The 10A just makes it even better.
Sounds like the plastic moulded hood vent is not contoured the same arch as the hood , cant fix that

Doc... I noticed that "tinny, high pitch" noise as well. I can't lift the hood, still in recovery from rotator cuff surgery. Has this been dermined to be the root cause? This is the first time I've seen it mentioned. Periodically, at first start, I hear a slight water rush through the AC/heater. The water temp is normal, it may take awhile for air to work its way out of the heater core.

Other than that, everything has been perfect ... fit, finish, undercarriage... has the typical Wrangler turn signal skip, etc.

Ran into this beast while stalking my dealers lot today. It had a twin sister giving me intimidating looks by her side.

Hey guys, I know it was mentioned before, but I don't know what to search. I got my car yesterday and wanted to know what the best wheel locks are for the 10A.

The only purchase I've made from Quadratec was their 23 piece Gorilla spline-lock lug nut set in Black. Comes with 18 spline nuts and 5 locking nuts to cover all five wheels. For me, it was a no brainer.

Edit: Looks like I was slow on the trigger, guideplan beat me to it. Consider this an endorsement of his recommendation!

I'm looking too. There's basically three to choose from...

Mopar..
Gorilla..
McGard..

I'm leaning toward Mopar or Gorilla...

Any insight or feedback on these from the 10A clan would be appreciated...

1. you will have to remove the passenger side rear tow hook, or modify it somehow as it uses the same portion of the frame rail. I just took it off for now.
2. The bolt that fastens to the bottom of the carrier is a bit of a pain screw down since you can't get a ratchet and need to use a box end wench.

Other than that it looks great and works well. I still plan to install a third brake light and some back back up lights I also need to get a set of wheel locks or gorilla locks for now I used a cable bike lock.

Tow hook that had to go:

Rear bumper off and my helper:

Bottom bolt, note the bumper in the way:

installed:

The spare tire looks off-center relative to the bumper. Is there a way to adjust that?
