Hey guys,
Thought that I would start this thread in anticipation of the 2013 Anniversary Rubicon.
Im excited to see what Jeep has come up with to make this Rubicon "limited".
Hopefully its more than just some AEV bolt ons like the COD was.
Please feel free to post what you believe it might look like or any info you may have on it.
Hopefully Pat will post some info this month on this thread about the new Rubi.
If this Rubi is as great as I hope, Ill be trading my fully moded 2012 JKUR in on one.
Weird....The antenna's not attached in any of the pictures....just an observation. I wonder if they have a new antenna design, or they don't like it either.
On another note, I really like the front and rear bumpers. I think a winch mountable front bumper should be included on all Wranglers (or at least an option that's not only available for a special edition).....It is an off-road vehicle for @#$% sake.
Oh wow, the anticipatory comments on the board really hyped up my imagination. Now i'm just disappointed with the end result. Beh, red interior ruins it. This ain't no Audi A4 Cabriolet.
I LOVE the Anvil color. But why is it that the last two special editions (Moab and 10th anniversary Rubicon) have tires that are smaller in diameter than a basic Sport S? GIVE US SOME BETTER TIRES and maybe guys will stop dropping $1,500 on replacements out of the gate.
i agree i like the color but im gonna have to be a hater i guess here. Just wasnt what i was expecting for a 10th anniversary even though it is pretty cool. I guess i was just expecting more is the reason im bummed out
Wasnt expecting a bright red leather interior and plastic bumpers. Also not a fan of the hood. If money wasnt an object i would buy it but if i had to choose between that and a base sport i can upgrade however i want id still pick the base sport.
Just giving my opinion here im sure a lot of people love it. Believe me i love jeep and all they do but a wrangler just seems to be a wrangler lol
^ Yeah, I get that there are things you (and others) don't care for. For me, it's right on par with my expectations - different bumpers (which are steel btw, not plastic), a different hood, black wheels, special edition interior, exclusive exterior color, special edition pricetag; the addition of rock rails was a surprise. Whether or not I like the additions, it's still pretty much exactly what I was expecting.
Edit: I really am just curious. Not judging your opinion. Not everything is for everybody.
Those new side pics. do it in for me. Not feeling it at all, in fact looks like a poor mod imo. Seen people's wheel/lift mods that look nicer right here, from the side than what this looks like. The bigger/colored rubicon sticker is a no go as are the white letterings on the tires. That and the wheels themselves.
Whole thing from the side looks like that "other" guys modded jeep.

Are they steel? They look plastic my bad. But yea i understand different strokes for different folks. Im just surprised alot of people like the red seating. Ive seen cars with red seating at my dealership and after awhile they look and seem rundown in a sense. Just my .02
The BMW 1 series had a coral colored leather interior that I loved. This kinda reminds me of that. I like the way it looks, but in all honesty, I don't really think I want leather in my Jeep. I really, really like the rugged vinyl type material of my Arctic.
If you think about the type of guy that would want a red leather interior in his Jeep then you will understand who this $40k Jeep is being marketed to.
I was expecting something cool, some upgrades to it's off road prowess that people do everyday to their factory JK's. Maybe a little lift and some 33's. Maybe some weather resistant seats, maybe a hemi or diesel. I wasn't holding my breath for that last one.
Who at Jeep said Red LEATHER seats, red Rice Burner Tuner hooks, 31.5" tires and a puffy powder blue paint job would be awesome.
I thinks it's as good of a special edition as I've seen, and it is realistically all anybody should of expected.
Take the latest COD (Rubi + steel bumpers, fancy hood, decals/stitching/doodads), and bring the features up just one more notch (convertible stubby steel bumper, enhanced rock rails, better hood), add some different decals/stitching/doodads, and there you have it. I think it's fine.
My only complaint is the seats. They look fine I suppose even if not my taste, but I just can't imagine why you'd want brightly colored leather in a vehicle that is supposedly tailored for use on the Rubicon trail.
I don't know about you guys, but when I go offroad I spend a good bit of time OUTSIDE of the jeep surveying the terrain and spotting. Sometimes I get dirty doing that, and brightly colored leather seems awfully likely to look pretty beat up over the years as a result.
Standard seats with two sets of new fancy whiz-bang jeep seat covers that only come with the 10th anniversary edition would actually have been truer to the concept, IMO.
I suppose this is easily fixed on the consumer end though. Get yourself some good seat covers and you're all set.
In my opinion the best Special Edition was the original Rubicon so I just had my hopes up I guess. The original had all offroad upgrades over a standard TJ. I thought they might try something cool like that for the anniversary. That's what bummed me out. I guess from here on out you have to pay $5,000 for fluff and boggers.
I totally agree...not only are they RED but they're LEATHER. As soon as people started saying it looks great in my BMW, Audi, 350Z I almost jumped off that fiscal cliff everyone is talking about.
It is about what I expected....of course I'm sure it will be way overpriced.
I don't mind the red seats...BUT...there really needs to be an option for black leather with red stitching. I can see how a lot of people would not want red leather seats in a Jeep.
On the flip side...the people that DO want red leather seats are probably the people that won't be buying these vehicles to wheel anyway.
That side view makes Anvil look awful...but I'm pretty sure it is the lighting. Other pics of Anvil look much better....and we know from other colors what bad lighting can do.

The first shots had me lusting after Anvil, wishing I could afford the 10th Anniversary, hoping Anvil would be offered on the rest of the line. The LA photos I've seen having me thinking: Eww. Is that more cornflower or periwinkle?
