A shock won't do that ... maybe a bad spring.

Mine measures 22.0" front and 22.5" rear... center hub to bottom of fender lips.

It could be a driver side rear spring pushing the passenger side front spring down. Don't be surprised if the dealer says Chysler has a 3/4" skew tolerance from side-to-side, front-to-rear and corner-to-corner.

I've heard all this before with Toyota.

.

I always thought bad shocks or a shock with a bad seal could make a vehicle sag?

ps... dealer told me to add the 430nav now it would be $2300....(compared to 700 if i would have ordered one with it!)

There are sellers on ebay who will sell you one for a much better price. The install is easy.

Just measured the center of hub to lowest point on fender lip.

Left is 22 1/4"
Right is 21 5/8"

Still seeing 5/8" difference so it's not the tires somehow.

Checked the spring perches and they seem seated fine. I guess I should check the rear as well. Right now my Jeep is parked on my sloped driveway so I would expect the front to be higher then it typically would be on the flat but it's pretty flat left to right. I am going to park it in the garage which I fairly sure is as near flat as I'm gong to find considering it's finished concrete.

just checked in the garage and with a half tank of gas and nothing else in the Jeep it's now even front to back at:

Passenger front and rear: 21 3/8"
Driver front and rear: 21 5/8"

I was surprised that they are dead on even front to back but is the 1/4" side to side difference the fact that the fuel tank (in my case half full) is on the passenger side. Makes sense I guess but is my Jeep going to look like it's got a "lazy eye" or lopsided whenever I have fuel in the tank? I am going to fill it up today just to see if it changes it significantly. I know this is nit-picky but it bothers me how it looks lopsided. Maybe its just such a tall reference that it just exaggerates the difference?

Interesting however how m998's got 22" and 22.5" as that's almost a whole inch higher then mine. Unless we are measuring to two different spots on the fender. I am referencing the center of the hub to the very first part of the fender to be under the tape measure which ends up being the inside edge of the fender lip, not the bottom outside 90 degree bend.

Yeah, put it on level ground and then measure... you may get different results. Also, since you're doing all this, post up the front and rear spring PN's.

I get this skew effect all the time on my XJ ... It appears the higher you go, the longer the springs, the more the suspension works and articulates through uneven surfaces. Of coarse spring rates play a major part in this...

Just the way I park can make the front or rear hike up a bit ... it will do that with 5.25" lift.

chittychittyBB and Billy Goat,

Thanks for the words. When I see content owners it makes me happy for them, and puts my mind at ease.

Also, ccBB, awesome pictures of your beast in the snow!

It guess could if the shock was air or gas filled to change dampening or it was a coil over shock.

I would have enjoyed giving you a bunch of crap for being so damn nit-picky. But, I figure I might as well be helpful this time and give you a possible reason for your little issue.

Do a search for "Jeep Lean" in the TJ section or Google. The theory goes like this...

Jeep has always been higher by about 1/2" of the driver side front and sometimes 1/2" on the passenger rear. Always a little higher in the rear.

The reason is because with the driver weight in sits level at speed, the rear passenger side higher is up for debate but most think it is because the torque of the engine pulls that side down while driving....which levels everything out when driving.

All of the rear higher is a no-brainer....it's because when loaded with gear it will sit level and not point the nose up when loaded.

It is impossible to measure everything while driving but it might be perfectly level in motion.

Read my above post ... I would be more concerned you're sitting 1" lower than mine.

Edit: I see now. Where exactly are you measuring from? ...

Take center hub to bottom of fender lip and ground to bottom of fender lip measurements and compare with another 10A.

1/4" is no big deal, the springs will settle differently each time you park.

Thanks for being considerate. I've never owned a Jeep before, and for that matter any truck regardless of manufacture so I have no idea. My last nearly 9 years was spent in a Subaru STI with full Bilstein coilovers perfectly level with only a couple inches of ground clearance and very high spring rates so "jeep lean" is a foreign phrase. I can see how that was a softball for any weathered Jeep Curmudgeon to knock out of the noob park so thanks for the info instead. It makes complete sense to try to keep it level while driving with at least a driver and fuel.

So jeep just told me mine would arrive tomorrow. Sales managers aren't in yet to confirm/deny and I don't see anything on jeep.com so I am doubtful.

Hey guys, anyone with experience know around how many hours the dealership should be charging me to install the AEV Tire Carrier? I have no idea how many hours this would take but want to make sure they aren't trying to take advantage of me. Thanks!

On my Work Order it was listed as 2 hours labor ($109.00/hour) from a Jeep dealer that does quite a bit of wrangler upgrade work/mods.
