Picked up the Beast 10A on Tuesday. That can explain the horrible weather all this week. I had to play hookey just to just a chance to take the top off Thursday!

Thought I would post this here. Im not sure how many of you all saw my other post.

Its about a braking noise thats coming from my 10A. Its not the ABS shake. Its like metal creaking.

The thread is here:

If anybody has any light on the subject, that would be awesome.

Thanks!

Turn off the Hill Start assist on the EVIC and see if that makes a difference.

Even after removing your foot from the brake peddle, it holds your brakes on for you before you get moving.

How are everyone else's door seals? Nice and straight? Lined up correctly? Some of mine look crooked and even stick out a little in some parts while the door is closed.

Make sure they are completely seated, I had to seat mine and use an adhesive on my 2012 to keep them on.

I asked the AEV sales rep, who confirmed the spare tire carrier fits the 10a's bumper. Unfortunately, neither Jeep nor AEV have issued written install instructions for the 10a bumper. Thank you for your assistance with his project!
10a does not have a bumper cover, it is metal. There is a metal cap that is removed where the AEV tire carrier is installed.

What's your MDH? ... see the numbers in my sig.

You can find it on the driver door frame... that's when it went through final inspection.

Thanks. I used a poor choice of words. I am just trying to confirm whether the whole bumper has to come off (temporarily) in order to secure the AEV support spindle to the frame rail. Has anybody installed an AEV tire carrier on a 10a? Thanks!

about to buy a fully loaded white 10a with matching fenders and top

Hi guys. Just wanted to get feedback. Just about to buy wifey a 10a for $43,800 plus freight/tax. Nav/match fender and hard top/ auto/.

It seems like a good deal but I wanted to ask you guys while I got my finger on the trigger.

Also having them install a 2" bilstein lift. ($1565 + $1200 labor) And a set of 17" Strikes with 35" Mud Terrains with tpms ($3300)

Any feedback is appreciated.

The jeep price seems ok, it may vary depending on the part of country you are in. The lift actually seems like a good price assuming its the same as quadratecs part #16170.1002. BUT 1200.00 for labor is crazy. The wheels u could probably order from tire rack for 800-1000$ cheaper. Hope this helps and I'm sure someone else with more knowledge can chime in as well...

Well I finally got it. It's awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by the mileage too. 19.5 on curvy mountain roads is pretty good with only 65 miles on the odometer.

Got it home, scuff and slice in leather steering wheel, freedom tops misaligned but all good otherwise.

So not sure...
Yeah. Around town I'm getting about 15 mpg. I haven't really got on the highway yet. I'm still getting used to the power band. The 4.0 in my TJ was definitely torque-ier off the line. You have to rev the 3.6. I think that's also the electronic throttle. At first it seemed underpowered on the back roads. I had to constantly downshift. I stopped for a while to have dinner and when driving back along the same route I noticed that it seemed to have more power. The ecu might have adjusted something, but its probably me just getting used to it. It's definitely quieter than the TJ, and its really comfortable. I'm now convinced all the auto journalists who claim that its only mediocre on road are d-bags. Yeah it wanders, but its pretty darned civilized. I could certainly commute in the thing everyday with no problem. The 6 speed is really easy to. The seats are very comfortable.
Also, I really like the 730. It has comparable features to everything else out there. It's really easy to use and its waaaay more responsive than the MyFord Touch in our 2013 Escape. Got to take the freedom panels off between rain storms and I'm really glad I got the hard top. With the panels off its almost as good as having the top off and a lot more convenient. One thing is that it doesn't have center lower latch anchors, so I either have to give up one back seat or attach the car seat base with the belt. I think I'm going to use the belt, so I can carry more than 2 passengers. The door seals seem fine. In fact everyone who gets in it doesn't close the doors hard enough so EVIC gives me a warming. I have mixed feelings about the bumpers but they certainly look good. My wife doesn't like the Anvil or the Red, but she acknowledged that its mine so it doesn't matter to her. I think she'll come around though. I got 4 grab handles, 2 clothes hangers and one freedom panel bag. All in all its definitely worth the wait.
I'll take some more pics tomorrow.

1. you will have to remove the passenger side rear tow hook, or modify it somehow as it uses the same portion of the frame rail. I just took it off for now.
2. The bolt that fastens to the bottom of the carrier is a bit of a pain screw down since you can't get a ratchet and need to use a box end wench.

Other than that it looks great and works well. I still plan to install a third brake light and some back back up lights I also need to get a set of wheel locks or gorilla locks for now I used a cable bike lock.

Tow hook that had to go:

Rear bumper off and my helper:

Bottom bolt, note the bumper in the way:

Here's the original post regarding the AEV tire carrier install. Too bad the passenger side tow hook has to go. Still, it doesn't look like the whole bumper has to come off in order to get the carrier's mounting spindle in place, so the install doesn't look all that difficult.

One more thing. The USB port inside the center console lights up so you can find it. Why can't other manufacturers do that? I keep noticing little touches like that, that I would never in a million years expect to see on a Wrangler. With the TJ in retrospect it was like they really didn't give a crap if the car wasn't user friendly or comfortable or even particularly well made. On this its the exact opposite and yet its still just as capable off road. Bravo Jeep. If it proves to be reliable too, than I think they've found the sweet spot for a real SUV.

You will have to remove the pass side tow hook but you do not have to remove the bumper to do install of tire carrier.

Also if anyone in OK is looking for a 10a the dummy dealer in Elk City that didn't want to order mine for me when I wanted it seems to have ordered one using an Employees name and it has now been sitting on the lot for a week. It is white with color matched top and fender flares, auto, auto climate. Wish I had known that the auto climate gets you a filter for the ac system, I would have gotten that for mine.

Oh yeah it is 4 door.

why would you replace a winch capable bump. Chyrsler is working on a winch plate. it should be out in the next 2 months. I been on the phone with jeep for over an hour trying to figure the winch out. One saleman also tolt me replace bumper. The 10a was feature for a winch capable bumper so why switch. wait two months for plate

Auto climate? I didn't even see this option. I ordered mine with everything, but if it's missing something as basic as that, I'm going to be pissed!

Does anyone know if the 10As are supposed to come with auto climate?

If you get AC it comes with auto climate. Just not dual climate or rear seat vents

Auto climate was an option listed but I chose to stick with manual. Just wish I had known that it would come with a filter then I would have gotten it.

Whaaat? You mean it doesn't come standard with air conditioned seats or iPhone compatible dial-a-degree seating?

Just kidding - thanks for the info! I ordered mine with air conditioning and was searching the interwebs looking for details about the difference!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but auto air is an option, one of 3 on my "base" 10A.

Wolf, congrats man, I'm sure Chrysler set your ecu to bog as revenge

Oh and I still plan on calling IAMJEEP on my 10A on the drive home to "see" where my jeep is

So not sure...
I just went over 200 miles and with the 35" KM2's and erratic full throttle acceleration from time to time am getting 15.5 MPG..... Based on EVIC. Put gas in for the 1st time today. Have not bought "regular" in a long, long time!
