Hey doctorsti, so I understand that you ordered anvil with a painted top and black(unpainted) fender flares. I tried to order painted fender flares and a black (unpainted) top but was told by the dealer I can't have one without the other. I also watched him try to do it on the dealer order system and he couldn't make it happen. I believe Pat also confirmed that. Doc are you sure you are getting a painted top with black(unpainted) fender flares? Has anyone tried to order a mix of black/painted fender flares/top?

As I said in an earlier post, which Pat confirmed shortly after: For Rubicons (including the 10th Anniversary Edition), Painted top, black flares, YES. Black top, painted flares, NO.

There was a point right when (or right before?) ordering opened that it appeared as if the painted top and black flares combo were not available. That has been fixed.

Bottom left of your POC states - scheduling priority: 4-dealer order.
Mine says 1-sold order, it also has my name and address on it.
You might want to check this out with your dealer.

Not trying to bring you down, just trying to help.
Is this true about the 1-sold order?......mine also has 4-dealer order. Is this something I should have the dealer fix?

I'm not a dealer so I don't know for sure. When I ordered mine I told the dealer what Pat had said about "sold order" so he placed my order in that way.

Pat's posts:

Wrangler 10th Anniversary Pre-Sell
The highly anticipated 10th Anniversary Rubicon is coming to a showroom near you soon! In order to cater to eager customers, Jeep will have a “Pre-Sell” period for Sold Order customers interested in ordering the first wave of production vehicles.
•Ordering : VOIM will open Jan 15th
•Requirements: Sold Orders ONLY
•Verification Process: Sold Orders will be reviewed for customer validation
•Production Begins: March

I just called the dealer. The configuration sheet I had was a pre-order quote. On the final configuration sheet, they do have 1-Sold order with my name and address.......Crisis averted. Thanks for heads up.

Your both welcome, glad things are ordered correctly.
wbfiii: I noticed the order code as I looked jealously at your POC. I couldn't get more than 1% below
Like I said not trying to bring you down or scare you. Just wouldn't want you to find out something was coded wrong after weeks had passed.

It may not be like this everywhere, but the negotiations on my order will happen when we have a physical vehicle to discuss the price on (The day I pick it up). I know the starting price will be 1% below invoice, but at least with my dealership the actual sale price negotiation won't happen until I am there actually buying the Jeep. I have a minimum price for my trade-in already arranged, however that will likely go up based on conversations I've had since. I also believe the sale price on the Jeep will go down as well (Not very much I would image, maybe another 1%).

What I'm saying is, what you have on the POC sheets doesn't necessarily mean its the final price, unless your dealer is a real stickler (In which case you probably should be buying elsewhere anyways). On the other side, those of you who have already negotiated a price are probably locked in at that price, and it's doubtful anything less will happen. Just wasn't an option at my dealership to negotiate before we had something in our hands.

Negotiation is always an option. Never let a dealer take that away from you at any time. If you are happy to negotiate later great, but make sure that is your choice and not theirs.

no worries, thanks again...i called and it's listed as a sold order

after we got the price with the -1% tread lightly, i told him it looked good but i wanted to do some comparison shopping. he asked what it would take to complete the deal and i told him -2%.

the salesman talked to a manager and the manager came to me with -1.5%. i told him it was very tempting but thought i would always regret not shopping around. the manager said he didn't want to lose my business over .5% and agreed to the -2%.

the whole thing took about 1 hour

Thanks. I'm hung up on the extra about 350 lbs. I'd be hauling with no substantial extra capability. But it is a beauty.

Anyone attending X-Games this weekend?? They're supposed to be giving away a 10A at this weekends event. I wonder what color it will be. Anybody here near Aspen?

I agree completely. What I am trying to say, is a lot seem to think that 1% under invoice is the best they'll get, however I don't believe thats the case. Just as you said, there is always negotiation opportunities. What I meant by the fact that if you already negotiated a price now - most likely you verbally (some maybe even in writing) agreed to buy the vehicle at that price you already negotiated. I can see a dealer not wanting to go any lower, since you already agreed to it.

I haven't done any negotiating on mine yet (aside from getting an estimate on my trade), no deposit or anything. So I'll be working out the final details when I pick it up. Not saying one way is better than another, just making sure everyone knows there is an option to negotiate at the time of pickup as well, not just before placing the order.

Anvil-gate

My dealer contacted Chrysler regarding the hold on Jeep 10A with Anvil paint. Their response:

"Anvil paint is the problem. We opened ordering for the 10th Anniversary Rubicon one month early to gauge consumer interest knowing that this color had not been through the entire approval process. Once that happens, the order will be available to schedule. Right now we just have to wait for that to happen."

I need help... Or persuading I guess... I bought a JKUR 3 months ago and now I'm finding out about these 10a's. I'm beating myself up for not waiting. Anyway I went to my local dealerships just to see how bad I'd get ripped off for trading mine and ordering a new 10a. The best deal I've been offered is $4k off what I paid for my JKUR and just over 1% off invoice for a comparable 10a. I can afford to do it. It only raises my payment $80 or so. But I just don't know if its the "smart" thing to do. Help me...

IMO, it wouldnt be a smart move. All the 10A is is a Rubicon with some extra badging basicly. It wont wheel any better than yours, it wont pull any more than yours, it wont get any more mpg than yours, and it wont drive any better than yours.
I say keep yours, and when Jeep redesigns the wrangler, youll be better off than if you did this 10A trade. Im sure the Wrangler will have something new and cool for the 2014 MY that you will like.
I considered trading in my 2012 JKUR on one of the 10As. Hell I even started this thread in anticipation! BUT, after rationalizing it out, its really not worth taking a hit on my 2012 for basicly the same vehicle. Ill wait another year or so and see what it brings.

This X10. I had your issue. Sima is right though. I figured I'd get no better capability(even the ground clearance according to jeep.com, not the Dec press releases, is only 0.3 inch more.) Plus the JKR 10A weighs about 350 lbs more. I've decided to wait for what I hope will be the best improvement from my point of view......All Time 4WD. This on a Rubicon will get me to trade my 2013 JKR. I realize the possible collectable aspects. If that is important to you, then that's different.

Do you have any support for the massive change in transfer case in 2014?

Read a now vague rumor of something, but, no, I don't. I think it is bound to come to us, but when I know not.

Yeah I've read the same vague guess at what the 2014 could bring and should it actually contain an 8-speed and full time AWD transfer case along with 4lo and 2hi I would be really tempted to either cancel the 10th or take a few grand hit on trading if in.

So the recent talk about 4.10 gears got me thinking.... aren't they supposed to be standard equipment on the 10a? Jeep blog says so.

"A standard 4.1 axle ratio front and rear, as well as standard Tru-Lok locking differentials"

My build sheet definitely has a charge for the 4.10's, I may ask them about it

It's standard with the Manual transmission (which is standard). So if you got the optional automatic transmission, you have to pay the $195 extra to get the 4.10 gears. So technically that line is correct, because the 4.10 is in fact standard, unless you upgrade to the automatic transmission, then its optional.

4.10s are only standard on the 6speed

The blog mentions 4.10 as standard with no mention of the 6 speed. The following bullet point mentions crawl ratio of 73.1:1 with the six speed tranny. You think they would have said the 4.10 gears are standard with the 6 speed if that was the case.

The point about the 4.10 gears standard on the manual has already been covered, and it was found to be a glitch in charging you extra. It will be worked out. Same with the VON, It will be a while.
