I understand where your coming from but don't let something small like stitching get in the way of an awesome jeep. If its something you cant look past see if he can take some $$$ off the purchase to make it better, or just order another one and wait a little longer.

Pat, do you know if 23j is available for order again? I'm hoping to order today, thx! Also, does it mean anything if the order isn't placed today which is the end of the presell?

I would have pulled the trigger, too (especially since black is restricted), but wanted to see anvil first, then waited to see Dune (in production now) in either pics or person before ordering.

This was an item that wasn't supposed to even be available until mid-March, so of course there is some uncertainty. You can be the first kid on your block with an Anvil 10a, but there is some risk involved.
Yes - I completely understand it's pre-sell and should have known better.

I had a long discussion with my dealer this morning. His rep at Jeep will be contacting me today to discuss the order in general and possibly make changes if needed/possible. I'll see what happens after that conversation and see where things go.

I'm still happy I ordered, I just would have done things differently "had I known".

^^This^^

If you go to order a vehicle again understand a few things.
1. Don't make it a do or die today situation. Take time to research for yourself and find definite answers.
2. Except for that illusive salesperson such as Pat (needle in a haystack) salespeople have absolutely little to no understanding of the product they are moving. This is true of all brands and many industries. The salesman's prime concern is moving product in volume at profit. This improves their take home bottom line. This is also true of sales managers, maybe even moreso.
3. There were no pictures or literature showing the black option or discussing anything other than black was available. Your salesman told you what you "wanted" to hear, or made a guess based on what he seen in Chargers and Challengers. Either way you didn't ask for confirmation from chrysler via pics, literature or writing from the salesman or dealer.
4. Buyer beware, always. It's your duty to insure the option is what you expect before placing the order. Don't ever take "the word" of a salesman or dealer without printed proof from the manufacturer.
5. With research from forums such as this and printed literature you will be better informed about the vehicle than the dealer or staff 95% of the time. Most of the time the brochure sitting in the showroom has info that the salesman doesn't even have a clue about.
After all the salesman isn't dealing in Wranglers only. They are moving trucks both gas and diesel, cars both economy and performance and four different name plates, Dodge,Ram,Jeep and chrysler.

My dealer didn't even know this was available for order until I told them. They pulled up their order screen and it didn't show. I told them it could only be done as a sold order and they pulled up a different screen where it was available for order. Then there were issues of things not working or appearing for several minutes each.

It was frustrating, but I understood that it was a "pre-sell" and there would be bugs in the process. After all this was pushed out a month or more early and with a last minute limited optional interior color.

As far as price, it's relative. Try buying a couple of diesel pick-ups each year, then your into 50-60K per vehicle with the same issues at time of order.

Know the product from your own research before ordering, because the dealer will likely know only what they move regularly. Special editions are just that and they are at a loss since they haven't or don't see them move through weekly like the rest of the units they sell.

Not looking to cause a flame or anger anyone, just trying to be informative from lots of experience going through the purchase process.

Changing to red seats should be something your dealer can do since none of the 10As have been scheduled for production. If you are in D status an have a VIN, the supply chain manager for your business center should be able to make the change.

That is what I am upset about. I'm upset at myself because I like the red seats and went to the dealership that morning, planning to buy red seats. It just so happens that black with red stitching is my all time favorite seat combo, so naturally I ordered black seats on the 15th when I was told they were black with red stitching & the interior was still going to be black with red stitching.

A little over 2-weeks later we find out without a doubt that neither is true. That's just ridiculous. I could have dealt with one or the other missing as a lesson learned to never believe anyone, but both is tough to swallow when I could have gotten red seats with black and red interior. This is the first vehicle I've ever ordered and I can tell you right now, it's going to be my last. Just chalk it up to a big lesson learned.

Last vehicle you'll ever order b/c of the stitching? Time to put your big boy pants on and gain some perspective.

Yep, that's pretty much what my dealer said as well. I'll be talking his rep at Jeep about my order. I'm sure we'll get things straightened out one way or another.

I have ordered several cars, and its def the way to go if you know what you want. The 10A is a bit of different animal when it comes to ordering - this entire thread describes why. if anyone has any reservations about colors, options, etc, just chill out and wait til you can see one to decide what you want. Im sure there will be tons of photos posted here when deliveries start happening. if you're freaking out about stitch color, perhaps you should be ordering a Prius or a Beetle anyway

Now that is funny!

Anyways - yes I know it's a bit ridiculous to be upset about stitching. I am picky like that, in all aspects of life but especially with my vehicles (both cars and motorcycles). I have owned a lot of Mopars, and a few Porsche's. My current car - A PT Cruiser GT Convertible 5-speed (I know, I know). I bought it new, and it looks the same today as it did when I bought it. I also drove 800 miles each way to buy that particular PT Cruiser when I bought it. That tells you a little bit about how I am.

It sucks to be so paranoid all the time. I just expect things to be like the good 'ol days, when someone says something they do it. Not say A and do B. I feel I am very honest, I expect others to be as well. I clearly live in a dream!

Same here, Billet JKU, I have a VIN and it's in VOTS as scheduled for production.

That makes two of us, and both Billet JKU's.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. Because it's a Wrangler, people shouldn't care about looks?

I disagree. If I'm spending upwards of $30k on anything, every option is important to consider.

If you have so much excess money that you don't care, I have a bank account that you're welcome to put it in.

Thanks to everyone...

I ordered mine yesterday. This is my first Jeep and everyone here has really helped a ton.

My dealer was great. We had everything in, but he let me sleep on it a couple days. I was really torn between the Billet and Anvil. I've decided Anvil looks awesome, but my current car is a 2005 GT Mustang Convertible that I ordered before it came out : Silver with limited edition Red interior. The Rubi is replacing that, so I'm going Billet with Radar Red. He put it through yesterday.

JKJS74 : Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 4x4
24J : Customer Preferred Package (10A)
PSC : Billet Silver
*JY : Rubicon 10th Anniv Leather Seats (comes standard with "black leather wrapped steering wheel and console with Radar Red accent stitching" - regardless of color)
-XR : Radar Red/Black interior
DGJ : 5-Speed Auto
DMF : 4.10 Rear Axle Ratio
AEM : Dual top group
MX3 : Black 3-piece hardtop
HAB : A/C with Auto Temp Control
RHR : Media Center 730N

and best of all...

4EA : Sold Vehicle

I think you're missing the point. The real 'problem' isn't the stitching. The problem is not getting something I was told I would get.

Think of it in a generic term:

You go to buy something that is said to have "Cool Feature A" (CFA). You debate the CFA and end up buying that 'something' because of CFA. Then later on you find out that CFA is not there. Additionally, a standard item will also be removed. Now consider that "Cool Feature A" is something you wanted on the vehicle (Maybe a lift, particular wheel or wheel color, the paint color, etc) and that feature was taken away after you placed your order / purchased the item. How would you react?

I'm not going to cancel my order because of this, as it is minor and I have already taken up with my dealer and their Jeep Representative. The issue will be resolved one way or another, I am confident of that. As I said previously, I am still happy I'll be getting a 10A Rubicon. It's just not the 10A Rubicon I thought I was getting, thats all.

Thanks, I actually like the red seats though. I saw them with the Anvil color last week at the Detroit Car Show.

Matt,

Didn't look back to see what color you ended up ordering. I ordered a white one and it HAS been scheduled for production for quite a while now. I ordered the first day and received my conformation email with VIN and scheduled for production status within 3-4 days. If you ordered Anvil, then maybe it hasn't been scheduled yet. If another color then maybe/maybe not. My advice is not to drag your feet if you have the opportunity to change.

Worst case you can insist on a reorder based on incorrect info and see what that gets you. Hope you manage to get a spec you will be happy with.

I went with Billet myself. It is my understanding it's too late for the dealership to do anything with my order, but that his Jeep rep might be able to help (Pat also confirmed this should be the case). I've talked with the dealer today a couple times, and we're working to get with his rep now to see what we can do. Based on my conversations, I think we'll get something worked out one way or another.

Anyone else get their 10A without a hardtop? I really dislike the hardtop on the wranglers and much rather have just the soft. Anyone else feel this way?

Same here, from just e-mailing back and forth she already got me 1% under invoice.. assuming they can get me what I owe for my trade I'll be sold at that but I will still be trying to get down to 2-4% off. Hey, maybe they really want to be the first ones in the area to sell a 10a? :-)
