Hey guys,
Thought that I would start this thread in anticipation of the 2013 Anniversary Rubicon.
Im excited to see what Jeep has come up with to make this Rubicon "limited".
Hopefully its more than just some AEV bolt ons like the COD was.
Please feel free to post what you believe it might look like or any info you may have on it.
Hopefully Pat will post some info this month on this thread about the new Rubi.
If this Rubi is as great as I hope, Ill be trading my fully moded 2012 JKUR in on one.
Jeep was my choice. It's a convertible with almost three hundred horsepower that can damn near go any where. I can also tell you the only community that is even close the jeep community is motorcyclist . There is a brotherhood seldom experienced by many ! And that is unfortunate . Enjoy whichever decision you make, but that was my two cents.
Man I haven't read such bleeding and whining and crying in a while. Jeep will sell the shit out of these. I like the whole retro thing. Hasn't Jeep made red seats and interiors before? Thought I remember them even doing denim seats. My only concern with red leather would not be the elements, it would be attracting too much attention to itself in a parking lot when the top is off. I think in 20 years the Anvil/red combo will look cool faded and worn.
As others have mentioned the add-ons look like AEV. If so, I'm glad to see AEV taking a move forward with the styling. Looks so much better than 75% of the Franken-parts available out there. And it bodes well for the next generation Wrangler if they work together on the design.
I noticed the trail they took this pictures on seems to be a little more rugged and more rocky than other trails that Jeep has used in the past to promote the Wrangler... Is Jeep really promoting that fact that you could drive the wrangler on this trail or a similar trail without any problems of breakage or failure.
Just wondering if anyone would have any problems if they take their wrangler in after some breakage or failure on the trail and tell the service department, "My Wrangler broke (or bent) this part while I was off-roading on the trail were they took the promotional pictures"... will they tell you, "we will be happy to take care of that" or would they tell you "sorry sir, but Jeep does not cover off-road abuse"
Just a thought... after seeing the pictures.
I was expecting something cool, some upgrades to it's off road prowess that people do everyday to their factory JK's. Maybe a little lift and some 33's. Maybe some weather resistant seats, maybe a hemi or diesel. I wasn't holding my breath for that last one.
Who at Jeep said Red LEATHER seats, red Rice Burner Tuner hooks, 31.5" tires and a puffy powder blue paint job would be awesome.
In my opinion the best Special Edition was the original Rubicon so I just had my hopes up I guess. The original had all offroad upgrades over a standard TJ. I thought they might try something cool like that for the anniversary. That's what bummed me out. I guess from here on out you have to pay $5,000 for fluff and boggers.
I totally agree...not only are they RED but they're LEATHER. As soon as people started saying it looks great in my BMW, Audi, 350Z I almost jumped off that fiscal cliff everyone is talking about.
My weather resistant leather rubicon jeep seats have seen Arizona 116 degree sun, rain, sand, mud, dirt, 100 pound Rottweiler, and I've hopped in with tools and loaded up things that have only minimally scathed the material. You can't beat heated seats when you are doorless, and topless when the chill of the night is clawing at you. Those seats are tough and I use/abuse em the way they were meant to be used on an offroad jeep.
Not sure how red would stand up but I'd cover em until I was cruising the city and then I'd let em shine!
I've got to admit . . . these pics do drive home how spoiled we all are here folks.
I mean let's be clear: Front winch-ready steel convertable stubby bumper with two tow hooks, rear steel bumper with two tow hooks, f/r solid axle D44s, f/r lockers, e-discos, stock JK skids, 4:1 t-case, 4.10 diffs, real rock rails, vented hood for heat issues that could be very real in 4L . . . all stock.
You've got to admit--that's a pretty capable STOCK vehicle by any standards, anywhere in the world. Amazing they're even produced anymore, frankly. Other vehicles requires thousands and thousands of aftermarket components to get up to speed.
And here we are complaining about seat choice and color. Just sayin'. Keep it in perspective! :whistling:
If you look at the pics in this webpage, you can see that the instrument cluster is different in the 10th Ann. Looks kinda retro with an old school x10 RPM gauge instead of the x100 current versions.
I was thinking of the early ZJs when I mentioned that ugly red. If this Rubicon edition had a red hard plastic dash to go with the red seats it would be this vehicles modern day twin.
If the color Anvil is indeed exclusive to the anniversary edition I will be disgusted. Got everything ready to pull the trigger on a JKUR and no colors are doing it for me this year..... sucks!
The 10th Anniversary Edition Rubi apparently has an "unlocked" version of the EVIC that displays more data -- similar to the Grand Cherokee. The extra data is described in the press releases posted here, and Pat mentioned it as well.
They are the same with different powder coating to match the bumpers
