If you saw it at one of the shows, I'm willing to bet that any blue came from the bizarre show lighting. Even Archer has said that the grey photos look good...and he has seen them in real-world conditions. My money is still on grey.

I agree the show lighting is screwy but there are plenty of pictures of it in daylight where it looks a little blue even when in the same picture as a white and gray 10A which look appropriate. Ill be truly shocked if its not a darker gray with blue tones.

Here is a major factor for all of the indoor pics of anvil: take the fluorescent lighting into consideration... incandescent tend to give a warmer feel to all colors, and fluorescent promotes the cool hues.

A perfect example is the "silver" or mock-aluminum spokes on the steering wheel. In virtually ALL of the indoor and auto-show pics, you can see the blue-ish hue I'm referring to come through - and if you see any Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge in person, you can see they're clearly a faux silver.

On the contrary, you can really see how light effects the Anvil color in Jeeps outdoor promo shots: in the open, under the blue skies, they do have much more of a blue tone, and under the tree canopies, they pull the warmth of the bark and seem a flatter grey...

When I did get to see these at a pre-auto show event outdoors, I can say they are much less blue than ANY of the indoor shots I've seen. In fact, the side margins of the WranglerForum site is nearly spot on to standard sRGB calibration (as it appears on my Lenovo... NOT the most accurate color representation I will disclaim )

All said, it is a very unique color in that its properties to change with its surrounding lighting is unlike anything I've seen. Lincoln had a white called "White Chocolate Metallic" that was incredible at bringing in the warm spectrum to almost have a yellow light glow in sunlight, but never showed the "cool" side like this. Unless you're 'Anti-Blue" at your core, you will really love Anvil... I wish I was allowed to take pics when I saw it the other week, but I wasn't media and wasn't allowed...

Just an avid photo hobbyist adding my irrelevant two cents... But it was photography that got me into becoming a Jeepster in the first place 3 decades ago... Cheers!

Prepare to be shocked. It takes a LOT of color cast in a photo for white or dark black (or many other colors) to look wrong. It takes very little erroneous color balance in a photo to alter grey. That's why photographers use 18% grey cards for color balance...and why you do not use white or dark black areas to color balance a photo. Personally, I think the grey is gonna be a great color.

If its straight gray then I'd have to question the design teams sanity with producing a white, black, gray and gray version. Really did we need 2 straight gray special edition Jeeps. Dumb move in my opinion.

Judging by how many people chose it vs other colors I think they did pretty good. ;-)

The metallic billet is substantially different than the non-metallic grey/anvil...but I'm sure that's already been pointed out numerous times. I expect anvil to be darker than billet also. Smart move, in my opinion...all classic neutral colors.

If anvil is gray, which one is the 2nd?

I'd perfer the original guesstimate (a dark gray shirt Pat posted many moons ago) to the cornflour blue auto show photos any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

Sorry someone may have answered this, can I change something on my order for my 10a still or is it to late, I just want to add an option I overlooked. Thanks.

KiDoVa - that probably speaks more to the lighting you were in when you saw it, not the pigment of the paint. I think the biggest challenge with the publicity photos is that they were taken in Tahoe on a lightly cloudy day - so you have deep blue skies and lots of deep green trees reflecting off the vehicle, filtering the light and messing with the metering on the camera. Hence, blue-green tinting. The flickr pics are taken at the San Diego convention center under straight white light (no show lighting, like the Detroit and LA Auto Shows) so it's likely the truest color we've seen so far.

Billet. But I don't agree - I think the color choices make sense. They wanted something that went with the Radar Red touches, so in the existing palette they had Black, White and Billet (which is a metallic silver). Then they wanted a unique color so they added Anvil (which to me is sort of a battleship gray). They all go really well with the red. They do have two grays, but Anvil is a darker, non-metallic true gray and Billet is a lighter, metallic silver. They both will react a lot to light, but in really different ways.

The color may just have a twinge of blue in it, but I am willing to bet that the blue you're seeing in the pictures is the color reflecting the blue sky.

I'll just be the one to say it. You won't know what Anvil really looks like until you are standing right in front of it. How many more possible ways can guys try to dissect a color? I think you've pretty much exhausted all options jeez!

We have other things to discuss? People obsessing over red stitching on black seats, the winch, the numbered plate and yes the color of anvil. If anything deserves the chatter its the color of anvil rather than the winch and such but that's kinda what the threads for no? If you want to discuss your order status that kinda belongs in the 2013 waiting room or whatever its called.

This thread has become a waiting room.

No doubt, but if there is anywhere to discuss 10a things such as the winch, numbered plate and colors this is the thread for it. If someone is tired of reading the posts about anvil then don't read them. I go right over the red stitching and winch posts as they are of no interest to me.

I think that the billet will match the lip of the wheels. Should look awesome! And I am totally against any hint of blue.

One reason I already have a new set of wheels sitting in the garage for when it arrives. I truly dis-like black wheels, but that's a personal preference.

I think on a billet silver unlimited with; black hard top, black fenders, black bumpers, black mirrors, and black interior, including seats, the black rims will look great. I'm even planning on adding Gorilla black chrome wheel locks to finish off the black theme.

So these have black wheels (like the Moab)? Every pic I've seen is the regular Rubicon wheels.
