Hey guys,
Thought that I would start this thread in anticipation of the 2013 Anniversary Rubicon.
Im excited to see what Jeep has come up with to make this Rubicon "limited".
Hopefully its more than just some AEV bolt ons like the COD was.
Please feel free to post what you believe it might look like or any info you may have on it.
Hopefully Pat will post some info this month on this thread about the new Rubi.
If this Rubi is as great as I hope, Ill be trading my fully moded 2012 JKUR in on one.
It needs something special, off road performance-wise in my opinion. At least an option for a Pro Rock 44. I realize the over-all cost involved but there are some who would buy that option and it would be the easiest to accomplish as it uses stock internals. I like the upgraded EVIC, but they put in red leather seats. Seriously?
The whole point to special editions is to keep people excited about the Jeep brand. Kinda like a concept car you can purchase. Everyone wants to have something different and folks are willing to pay for it.
I wish I had a nickle for every time I heard, "I have the limited blah blah and they only made 3.4 of them. It's a half year model. It's very rare and everyone wants one. It's highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts recognize that it's the one to have. It's not a replica, it was built at the factory like this and it has a plutonium core... yadda yadda yadda."
"Do you drive it?"
"Are you crazy? No way! It's a piece of history."
God awful red seats! Regular sport and or rubi and upgrade yourself with bumpers/rails wheels/tires etc. Also figured no diesel, but hoping the diesel going into the 2014 Grand Cherokee finds its way into the wrangler--2014 maybe??
All depends on the price of course. Is it a marketing gimmick or not. Rubicon shouldn't be toyed with and right now to me it's sitting on the fence with this version between the serious off roader vs. this gimmick'd marketing ploy. Final price will make the determination at the end of the day. So far all it is, is different set of tires you can buy now cheap and bumpers which there is no shortage of after-market ones. I'm gonna check if my 2012 has bolt holes on the back right side for a second tow hook at the rear. Am mighty curious about that. Other than that, if indeed specially drilled, everything else can be picked up (subject to final price) same or less.
I downloaded every promo photo I could find. I just looked through them and the bumper looks the same in every one. I haven't seen any with the end caps on.
I absolutely hate seats with different colored inserts. Always looks like cheap aftermarket to me. And red and black are the worst. I'll take all red or no red.
And speaking of red and black, I'd take the red seats with any of the exterior colors except for the black. I hate black cars with red seats.
It's exactly what I was hoping it would be...a vehicle that makes me glad that I didn't postpone ordering in anticipation of something better. The only useful upgrade is the bumpers...and maybe the tires. But I've already switched to the awesome Poison Spyder bumpers and larger KM2 tires. A 1/2-inch lift? And the red leather would clash with the rocks in Moab. No thanks.
At the end of the day people will still buy it with those awful tampon seats. I bet most of these will barely leave the garage, let alone see some dirt, snow, mud, etccc.......
Correct me if I'm wrong.. but doesn't "available anniversary red leather seating" indicate that it's an option and not standard equipment? What's everybody griping about? If there is any fault on this package at all, it's the sh*tty, shorter, heavier, noiser KM2 tires.

Who knows...the Jeep website says:
"Rubicon 10th Anniversary" Detail Embroidered Standard, Red Leather, Heated Seats
So I'm guessing Red Leather is standard...and hoping Black (or saddle) leather is optional. I'm not sure if cloth is optional. On most of the new special editions, you could not change the seat material (Arctic, Moab, Freedom, Altitude, ect). Actually, the Moab edition in the only recent version where you could even change seat color....and that was made pretty clear on the website.
I like it. If I hadn't already placed my order I might have gotten one for myself. But I'd have some regular cloth Rubi seats waiting for it when it arrived though. I'd pull those red pimp seats and put them in storage.
I've never seen a vehicle with red seats that I thought looked good and this hasn't changed that. bleh
Assuming a hefty price tag. How many of u would wheel this thing to hell and back, and not care about scratches, dents, etc...... straight stock no mods... maybe a dumb question cause thats jeeps are for, but damn 40kish...
I sorta like the color, assuming it's metallic, even though it's not what I envision by the name Anvil.
Love the hood. :thumb: Might need one for my Arctic.
The seats, not so much. Wow. WTF. Even worse are the red hooks, but they're easy enough to rattlecan the proper black when you get it home so everybody doesn't make fun of you....

Hey...I like the red hooks. In fact, I just ordered some red d-ring shackles for my grey Poison Spyder bumpers. Everyone will think I have a 10th Anniversary Edition.
Actually, I like the red hooks on the Billet...they suck on Anvil. Who came up with the name for that color? It looks more like Baby Gunmetal Teal.
It would be nice if the EVIC could be updated to show more info in other 2013 models.
I like the red seats. I've considering getting red seat covers. Nothing wrong with adding some color. I think they look great in this mock up.
I find it amusing how some can dislike red interior so much, but have no problem driving a Gecko, Crush, Dozer, etc. Jeep. All of which I also like, BTW.
It's an anniversary edition. They did exactly what most people expected. Some bumpers, stickers, a few add ons and call it a day. They are not creating a whole new Wrangler model or building the successor to the Rubicon. Simply celebrating 10 years of the Rubi.
And I'd wheel it. I wheeled my 49K Overland around Moab and Colorado. Even went around the White Rim. For the poster that mentioned Moab, when I was done with the White Rim, the outside and inside of my Grand was covered in red Moab dirt. I think it blends well with this red interior.
While I don't mind the red leather....it does...stand out. And not everyone wants red leather seats.
As far as the EVIC....we noticed...but no one is saying anything UNLESS the software in our own Wrangler's can be updated. Basically this tell us that the information is available....but not turned on (kinda like Trailer Sway early on)....thanks Jeep.
The red leather is enough to stop some people from buying this Wrangler. The updated EVIC isn't enough to make anyone buy it (over the red leather).
I like the leather. I kept my EVIC display on temp in my Overland when we were driving the White Rim in Utah in July. Outside temps were hovering around 100 and we were miles away from civilization. Other than that, I never use it.
I do wish that the info was displayed differently. I wish they would fit more info onto a single screen, instead of having to scroll through each one separately. For example, I'd like to see Distance to Empty, AVG MPG and the trip odometer on the same screen. It was like that in our MDX.
