Hey guys,
I've been driving jeeps since I started driving but got the 10A last year. I'm a Carpenter so not much of a car mechanic but I was wondering how difficult it is to install the 10A winch. I want to try and do every mod myself so I greatly appreciate your help.
I've got a Rubicon X (same bumper) and have been looking at the same thing. From everything I've read, it's about 8-12hrs to install depending on your skill level (12 being the worst I've seen).
Maximus-3 has a good PDF online of the installation instructions for their 10a/X mounting plate with pictures which will give you good idea of what's involved (removing the bumper, cutting/extending the stock opening for a centered fairlead/winch if you go that route, etc.).
I'm no mechanic and it seems like something that I am comfortable doing myself, for what that's worth.
Adding the mounting plate and winch is really simple. The bumper only has 8 nuts to remove and 6 (I think) to drop the skid plate. I did mine in about 4 hours and that was installing the bull bar too.
