Premium top shouldn't be the hold up, my JKU with dual top that included premium top has been built and shipped.

Ordered my Billet Unlimited Rubicon a few days ago...now I just hope it gets here in time for me to use the $1000 "incentive"...going to be close. It will be my 3rd Jeep. I bought a Scrambler (CJ8) new in 1982 and sold it in 1996...still looked brand new even though it had over 100,000 miles on it. I kicked myself for several years until I bought a new Rubicon in 2003. That vehicle also still looks new and has only 23,000 miles on it...currently listed for sale though I have received a nice trade-in offer.

I've hesitated in buying a JK mainly because they have made it extremely difficult to drop the windshield. I gripe about that to the jeep people every year at their annual Jeep Safari display. Half of the representatives there don't even know how to fold the JK windshield. Sad. My '03 has been modified so that I can drop the windshield in less than one minute without the use of tools. I will try to do the same with the 2013 though I'm sure I won't equal the one minute mark.

I initially tried to order one with half doors...and found that to be almost impossible. Jeep seems to have strayed from their heritage. I guess that's understandable since the majority of jeeps sold today probably rarely venture off the pavement. I'll put the aftermarket 2-piece cloth doors on during warmer weather.

I've lived in Moab for almost 40 years. Back in the mid-70s, you rarely saw a jeep on the trails with the windshield up or the doors on. Hopefully, folks seeing me on the trails in the new JK without a windshield blocking my view will bring more people to pressure Jeep to make it easier to drop the windshield in the next re-design. I've heard they wanted to delete the folding windshield completely in the original JK design though.

Actually, I'm still kicking myself for selling the Scrambler.

turning blue waiting for billet

I finally found a billet enroute to a dealer less than 100 mi. from here. I want to see one up close before deciding on it or commando green.

You know....I didn't even pay attention to it. I plan on getting a Sport S, so I didn't think about it. Plus, I was in a hurry to get to Binny's (beverage depot) to pick up a full keg of original Lienny's for only $88! (Yes, that kegerator is back in action!).

I wouldn't worry about them clashing...I'd just remove them. Well, actually, I would have made sure they didn't come on my Jeep to begin with.

I'd like to see Billet under a bright sun. If it isn't silver....it may win me over. I want to see Commando Green in person...but some of the pics have me a bit nervous as there appears to be a lot of yellow in it under bright light.

Love the color from what I can see, especially w/ the black top and flares. Now we'll see if saddle/black interior (cloth on mine) looks like I hope it will. That's part 2 of my gamble on billet...

I checked out a billet yesterday, and its too silver for my taste. I was hoping for a grayer color, and the true blue is too dark, it's darker than the patriot blue on my Cherokee, so by process of elimination I'm goin to have to go with the commando green. I just hope its not too yellow as Panthermark fears. Seems like Jeep is overcompensating for last years multiple shades of black colors. I'm heading in to the dealer now to order a commando Unlimited, wish me luck!

Was it sunny when you looked at Billet?

I also loathe silver, yet like grey. When I looked (and took my pics), it was almost sunset. From the pics I've seen, I really like Billet in the shade where it is gray, but not so much in the light where it is silver.

Same for Commando Green....where it is a nice olive in the shade.....but starts to get a bit.....ummmm....baby-poopish in the sun....at least from the pics.

What's the $1000 incentive? I haven't heard of anything besides a $500 incentive and that was on 2012.

I received a card in the mail in August that offered $1000 cash back from Chrysler...originally expired in September but has been extended to Oct. 31. However, the dealer does not think the vehicle will be in by then. Oct. 31 will be exactly 6 weeks from the date they placed my order...even though I asked them to order it 4 days earlier. If it isn't here by then, I lose that $1000.

Escalate to Chrysler now and get a commitment they will honor this cash incentive ... their inability to build your vehicle and ship on time is not your problem.

In fact, why would they prioritize your order knowing it will cost them $1K and impact COGS? This needs to be addressed up front with clear documentation as to the agreement. Work this now, not later.

good luck...

A $1000?
What did it say exactly?

The best I can get is $500. Also, for a lot of those bonus cash amounts, your dollar amount can be "price protected" so that as long as you order before the expiration date, you are OK.

Double, triple, check on that. Call another dealer if need be just to see. (Your incentives will be in the system under your name and zip code).

I don't remember what the card said exactly. I threw it away in early September because I was not planning to buy a new vehicle. I have an amazing, heavily-modified '03 Rubicon already. But then I changed my mind and decided it would be nice to have more room inside the vehicle.

I've already contacted Chrysler Incentives. They located and confirmed my certificate but say they can't really do anything because the program rules specifically state that there is "no sold order protection." So unless the program is extended again orI take delivery by Oct. 31, I seem to be screwed.
