For the love of Jeeps, it won't stop raining here in Mass! When it does I'll shoot and post a bunch of huge, high-quality photos of everything.

Photo requests -- other than well-lit saddle cloth interior shots that I know folks want to see?

Thanks! Those are the best photos I've seen yet for comparison with the previous silver. The billet color in your photos looks exactly like the heavily modified Rubicon I saw in Moab about 10 days ago and mentioned in this thread...wondering if that might have been a factory jeep here for testing since it seemed early to have one that color so modified (trektop, wheels, bumpers, lift, etc). But the Rubicon hood letters were white on that one which made me wonder if it was indeed billet...but after seeing your photos, I'm sure it was. I'm not a silver fan and took a chance on billet...now I'm very glad that I did. I originally considered CG too...but the more photos I saw of that color, the more I disliked it.

In some photos it appears the silver emits a bluish or purple hue....

Is this the camera, surroundings or none of the above?

This one worked for me. I replaced the **** section with my VIN and the XXXXX with my dealer code. Looked that up online and it just ended up being the zip code where the dealer is.

First time on the forum. I must be too stupid to use the insight thingy. I'm assuming by ********, you meant XXXXXX. If so, do I delete the XXXXX, and then put my vin in?

Nope, 2 different things. There are XXXXX's where you can enter the dealer code (zip) and there are **********'s that you replace with your VIN number.

Ok, got it. Wasn't working with the link until I went to insight, then the asterisks showed up.

There aren't any purples or blues in it. It is hard to photograph because of the high sparkle in the metallic coat. When I walked into the dealership, three people asked me if I was the one picking up that jeep. They said it was a huge hit around there.

Thanks. I think the colors are further off than they photographed. The billet really is how everyone is describing it - a shimmering smokey grey. My husband and the boys at the dealership said its really sharp (just in case anyone was worried about just how sparkly it is :0)

In the 70's, I had a friend that owned a '68 VW with metal flake silver paint, custom air-brushed mural and pin stripes... I remember it would reflect colors around it, similar to a mirror.

This color reminds me of that paint, kinda. I've always loved silver, but I need to see the amount of "flake" or "metallic" in the paint.

looks good from here...

How do you obtain the VIN number? Is there a number to call?

Good job GT. it looks great. Very tasteful not overdone. Nice touches. Nice choice on wheels they work well with billet. I'd like to know how you like your lift kit after you've driven it at high speed and off road if that's how you use your jeep. It sounded like you did the lift yourself, how long did it take. Any regrets on lift or anything?

I almost came to meet you when you picked it up but work got in the way. After all you've been through with your '12 I'd say you came through it with a very nice ride. Glad things worked out well with a Chicago dealer. To bad you had to come so far. Post more pics when you can and don't forget those of us still in waiting mode. Everything I've seen it'll be worth the wait. I've still not seen it in person and none on the road. I'm sure other jeep guys are looking twice at yours.

To All those still waiting - Hang in there it's worth it!!! I think we got the best color going, but hey I know I am biased.
Ochocowilly, Would have been nice to meet you. Pat is great to work with as is Sal on the paperwork side of things. Yeah, I did the BDS 3 inch kit myself. It took 7 hours with about a 45 minute break for lunch. I did it myself as I have all the tools and a big shop to work out of here. I have had it up to about 75-80 and I am amazed at how stable it is and how quiet the tires are. I guess I am used to the old days of lifts and tires. But I am quite impressedo far.
I modified the BDS kit a little: The front brake lines seemed plenty long so I didn't moved the bracket down an inch as it directs you to. The front tire & whell combo at the far end of the turning radius rub the plastic shroud in the front. I plan on trimming that tomorrow to give it about 1/2 inch clearance. The instructions also say to remove the pitman arm nut and tie rod end from the steering but I saw no need to do it, there is no modification in that area. Steering wheel is still centered when I put it all back together. On the rear there is a box steel block that bolts to the frame and extends the connection for the sway bar ( in lieu of giving you longer sway bar drop links). I had seen pictures where this box gave way when others have tightened the bolts tight ,so I put a stack of washers in each end of each box so the box will not collapse. Other than that it was a breeze. I had a friend at work do a 4.5 inch rough county? and he had alignment issues so bad the traction control had to be turned off so he could drive it to the alignment shop. Mine is good by feel but I am having the alignment checked on the rack tomorrow.

Everybody have fun!!!

In the sun they are almost the same. Soon as they are in the shade you can see the difference.
