Damn. Which dealer? The dealers here in the Lehigh Valley are absolutely stingy. Best I am going to do is 1% and I tried everything. Wonder if there is still any negotiating room a little before or when it arrives.

I was able to get 4% below invoice. I did have an affiliate number through work. But that only ensured 1% below invoice. I just kept shopping around and negotiating.

I had one that was going to go 2% but they pounded me on my trade which made it a virtual wash. The rest were not budging. 4 dealerships that I dealt with.

I'm sorry to hear that. I did not have a trade in. So that probably helped.

I cannot tell you how frustrated I was with the first dealer I went to! I met with a sales rep who my wife like when she was shopping for her car. I told him (to the letter) what i wanted. trim, options, everything! he then proceeded to try and sell me a jeep off the lot that had $6,000 worth of options i didn't want. When I refused to pay for the additional options the sales manager proceeded to tell me that I was being unreasonable. When I suggested that perhaps a factory order would be more suitable...he told me it would take 3 months and would not discuss it any further! I am being completely serious!!! I brought it up once with the sales guy and twice with the manager... they seemed to refuse to order what i wanted.

I left angry with a grumpy wife and 2 year old. not a dealer i will recommend in the future. if i had needed a vehicle immediately, I would now be driving a 2012 Nissan Frontier.

First rule of buisiness - Don't talk about fight club....wait?
Second rule of business - Don't make it hard for people to give you money!

We had a similar situation at a Chevy dealer when shopping for the wife. We picked a Sequoia and left to look at Chevy. The freakin guy was telling us in his mid East voice that he would throw in dvd, navigation, blah blah blah. My wife was yelling at him to STFU as we were leaving because he wouldn't stop. We went back to Toyota and said sold. The dealer there was mellow and bought us lunch as a thank you. If it weren't for my want for a jeep is go back to that guy from '07

I totally understand! If I didn't absolutely want a jeep and my wife had not insisted that I buy what I want. I would have gone back to the calm, confident and friendly folks at Tony Graham Nissan in Ottawa. Bought my wife's Nissan rogue there after she had a terrible experience at another jeep dealer while looking at a 2012 compass....she went by herself wanting to see only a compass and they tried to get her into a dodge dart?! My wife does not respond well to BS. (Although she did marry me....weird)

Barbaras in NE Philly. They were really easy to deal with. Right along RT 1. Well worth the 2 hour drive for me.

Hi All,
Nov 2nd - ordered JKUS - true blue / manual
Nov 8th - Received email saying production scheduled + vin
Nov 16th - no further updates / called IAMJeep - said order was at the gate Nov 15.
Called more times then I want to admit... not further information available.
Dec 3rd - Listed as Shipped (target date to dealer Dec 11) Not sure why status between production scheduled and shipped were not available... just happy it has moved along in the process.

Just got the email saying my Jeep has shipped 12/3. I called the dealer and told them that I would like to start the paperwork. My sales person said the manager refuses to do anything until 3 days before arrival at the stealership. They have refused to look at my trade until the Jeep arrives.

I told my saleswoman she would be keeping the Jeep if I get lowballed on my trade. They are counting on me having new car fever and taking any number thrown at me.

It sucks, but if the games start when my Jeep arrives (after waiting 6 weeks), they can keep it. I will buy off the lot at another dealer and drive by to see them. Dealerships piss me off...........

How about, go to the dealer, say something like, "Oh it's not the color I was expecting it was..", and then nitpick on the jeep like crazy?? A couple of carefully inserted "I might be better off just keeping my current car", and a few good expressions of disappointment, might also help?

For all you know, if you decline to buy, you might be able to buy the very same one from a different dealer nearby through a "dealer trade"..

So it does look like VOTS is glossing over the "Frame", "Paint", "Trim" and "Final inspection" statuses. I too had the same experience. Estimated ship date was 11/29, and VOTS still showed "Production Scheduled" on 11/30, 12/1 and 12/2.
I called IAMJEEP on 11/29, they had no clue what was going on.
Called again on 11/30, and the lady said it's built and all - went into build on 11/20 or something, and will be shipped that day or the next.
Today (12/3) morning, VOTS changed straight from "Production Scheduled" to "Shipment".
Anyhow, excited to get her in my hands

The wait is almost over. It's in Prep. I'll have it before Dinner.
I think this will be the First Moab on the Forum!

After breezing through the posts it seems like the avg. wait time is around 5 weeks? I am guessing they stop production a week to 10 days for the holidays? So 6-7 weeks if ordering now seems right?

I ordered mine on 6 November and it's due at the Stealership on 8 Dec.

So I have an estimated arrival to dealer date on 12/13. With what everyone experienced and read how close you think it'll to that date? So stoked

I'm finally out of here after the 5 longest weeks of my life. Heres a pic of the new Rubi. Billet is an awesome color. Looks silver in the picture, but it is far from it. Very rich color. Almost has a blue hue to it. Must see in person. Lovely 0 miles on the odometer!

I've never heard of such a thing. We're using our trade as leverage to get a fair price before we place an order. With my company's Affiliate Rewards discount the new car price is pretty much the same at different dealers. If the sales person told us that they wouldn't discuss our trade until the new one arrived I would have stood up, thanked him for his time and left.

I've done the Black Book, KBB, etc., research and I know what they suggest what the average trade-in value should be. If a dealer tries to lowball us they will quickly be reminded that there are several other Jeep dealers in the area.

It's obvious that they're going to try and use that shiny new Jeep that you ordered and sitting on the lot in front of you as a bargaining tool to get you to accept their trade-in offer, if they refused to quote you a price before the new one arrives. Do your homework and hold out for a fair price.

I agree with he previous post. Before I placed my order the trade value for my 2010 JKUR was finalized. I went through USAA so it was pretty easy dealing with the new Jeep portion I the transaction. I always go into the car buying arena presenting the the new vehicle and the trade almost as two separate transactions. I you're using an affiliate purchase program or a car buying service like USAA you can get that price at ANY dealer. Some may be willing to work off more of that pre-negotiated price more than others but the trade is where the majority of my negotiations take place. I always walk in with the intent to walk away. It's up to them to convince me to stay. Not giving you a trade allowance prior to ordering is simply shady and would cause me to wonder what else they're going to drop on you at the last minute. My wife and I have purchased 14 vehicles over the course of the last 10 years and not once have I lost money on a trade nor ordered a vehicle and not had all the numbers to include tax, title, and doc fees prior to walking out the door. 5-6 weeks is a long time to wait for something allowing for a great deal of contemplating "what if's". Having all the ducks in a row takes a bit of the stress out it. Something else to consider regarding a trade-in when dealing with ordering a vehicle is to confirm the value given at the time of order will still stand at the time of delivery. I have walked out before finalizing an order in the past when I asked about this and the dealer started dancing around about market value changing and such. As I told him "Not my issue you don't have what I want sitting on your lot. If so I'd buy it now. Otherwise I'll bring my check elsewhere." There is no legitimate reason not to have everything solidified pertaining to the transaction prior placing the order. Anything else is just setting yourself up for failure. Just my 0.02.

Well. I have a ship date of Dec. 12 which basically destroys my plans to drive home for Christmas. It's a good thing I ordered in September!? Fuck.
