I have called 877-IAMJEEP about half a dozen times. Every time I have talked to people they have been friendly and willing to help. Having said that, some seem to be able to pull up more information than others (not really sure why that would be, perhaps effort?) - and their systems aren't terribly fast. I've been asked a few times to have patience while they look up info, but never been put on hold.

It just rubs me the wrong way, and to be honest scares me a little. They seem to forget that we are paying lots of money for these old technology marvels of automotive design. Now I am starting to see why so many Wrangler owners buy 'em used....like I did for my last two. This is the first one I have ever bought new (ordered) simply because my two local dealerships are so freaking brain dead as to not 1) have any Geckos that aren't either stripped down Sports, or pimped out Saharas (WAY too much of a good thing IMHO), 2) or have enough customer driven focus to try and find one for me. Neither dealership seemed to want my business, so I called a friend (Jeep Dealership...I'm in the wholesale fleet business) 300 miles away and he was more than happy to order exactly what I wanted....cheap....and it includes use of his fishing camp on the coast. So to be treated with indifference by BOTH local dealerships, and the "Customer Assistance Line" really makes me see how the foreign car companies got such a good foot-hold in the American marketplace. Not saying I would rather have (or even consider) an FJ, it just really gets under my skin. Jeep has a desirable product and they know it...treating the people with indifference who desire what they build is just dumb.

There are both good and bad dealers. Ignore the bad ones and seek out the good ones. That's what competition is all about.

However I don't understand all the whining about the customer assistance line. I've called that line about a half dozen times and they answer right away, can speak english, are polite and seem eager to provide the information I request.

Not trying to discount your frustration but I think this is common among all high demand models. Manufacturers plan a model mix for each model year based upon anticipated customer demand and sometimes they get it wrong. Dealers are often required to take a representative sample mix for their inventory. The fact that you can't find what you want may simply be that the config you like turned out to be more popular than planned and they get snapped up quickly, leaving only the less popular combinations on the lot.

I've been frustrated too many times trying to find what I want and gave up looking. I always order exactly what I want versus picking from inventory now.

I had the same problem last year when shopping for my pickup. People figured out that a Denali HD diesel only costs a few hundred bucks more than a loaded Silverado LTZ diesel so they rarely spend more than a day on the lot. I ordered and had what I wanted in five weeks.

Guess you missed that part in there where I said that I was in the wholesale fleet business. I know exactly how dealerships maintain inventory levels and product mixes, as well as the process involved with ordering hundreds of built-to-order cars per year. We deal with the Big Three, Toyota, and Nissan in bulk. I can tell you from experience that Chysler is the worst when it comes to anticipating sales and adjusting production to meet demand. In fact, I lost a multi-car police order this spring because Dodge couldn't/wouldn't build enough Charger V8 patrol cars. Customer cancelled the order in frustration, a new Mayor was elected, and now I have to start the long sales process all over again simply because I couldn't fill an order for 6 cop cars.

Robskully....I have often compared my Jeeps to Harleys. My brother (a biker; dirt bikes, metric bikes, Harleys too) ordered a Sportster 1200 many years ago, waited forever to get it, rode it for two years, and sold it for more than he paid for it. He's a mechanical engineer and told my it was the most over-rated POS he had ever riden, but was very happy to get all of his back out of it. Claims the newer bikes are completely different...but the old technology still sells.

I'm just frustrated that I can't seem to get a straight answer from a line set up to help customers. Seems like they could figure that out. They know we are our here chompin at the bit waiting on our new dream rides; you would think they would be able to provide accurate information.

I went to the dealership last Thursday to look at them. Decided I wanted a 4 door. Dealership searched the inventory of other dealers without finding one, then did a search on what they had coming in and the one I wanted they already had ordered.

2013 Black 4 Door JK Sport w/ 3 piece hard top. Only options I got was the power group and the black accesories group which has nerf bars and taillight guards. I kept it basic because it will be my "toy" in a few years, if not sooner!

Assigned D1 status

Inventory manager just informed me that my order was changed to D1 status: assigned a full VIN# with estimated ship date of 8/21. The manager said don't hold your breath. It will probably be 1st week of September.

Talking 2013 jkus

Ordered a true blue pearl JKUS a few days ago with 3.73s, black hard top, heated seats, black saddle cloth interior, 430N, tow, and remote start. VOTS is saying my VON or last name is incorrect though. Hopefully the 2013's don't have as many issues with the pentastar heads.

I just called the number and the guy said check with your dealer, it should be there. I called the dealer and it isn't there yet. Last time I called it was supposed to be there on August 9.
I hope to get some notice, since I need a ride to the dealer since it is 110 miles away in Colorado.

Wow congrats. How long did it take from the day you ordered it? Do you have all kinds of accessories to put on?

Ok here are some less than great pictures of the new Jeep taken by the salesperson. JKUR, dual tops, connectivity, auto, climate control, 430N etc etc.

I have a 2012 Sahara that has 2.5 RK Max Travel lift, 37's, Warn Front and Or Fab back bumper, Ace rock rails, Coast drive shaft etc that need to get moved over. I am picking it up next Thursday and have all weekend to move everything over and return the stock Sahara with now Rubi wheels, shocks and springs. Someone is going to get an interesting 2012/2013 Jeep.

I'll take better pictures once I get out there to see it in person this weekend.

Thanks Everyone
This will be my FIRST ever jeep and have never even driven
in a convertible (i'm 58). We signed the PO on June 22nd.
The Salesman was even SHOCKED that it was in so early.
They said they had another order put in before mine and
it still aint there. It was probably because of my limited
options. No accessories yet BUT have a ton of ideas.
It is going to be my DD and I am not into rock crawlling.
I could see some light 4 wheeling, Dirt Roads and Fire
roads through the woods. Mostly got it for the 4x4 for
Winter use and the HUGE fun factor with the top down
Would like to do the leveling lift, the 2" front with 1" rear
(I think that is what I read here)

That's cool. My wife and I just turned fifty this year and the Rubi 13 is for our fifties. Did you notice my pic of my license plate on my profile. That cool keeping it basic but I went to the other extreme. I already have 20k plus in Accessories. Hopefully by the end of January there should be some pic on here. If you wanna read about our trip we have planned accross the US next year just flip back a few pages here and you'll find it. I think it's on page 3,4 or 5. Enjoy your jeep.

Hi there,

Has anyone here ordered their Jeep in Southern California? I'm looking to order a JKU Sahara in the next few weeks and wanted recommendations or warnings on dealers to avoid. I've got tread lightly and nothing to trade so I'm looking for a saleperson or dealer who'll do a deal online. Any suggestions? I'd love to work with Pat at Fields in IL but my work schedule won't allow for a 1,300 mile drive back to the beach.

Good news, but it backs up my statement from yesterday about inaccurate information and inconsistent customer service....I called this morning and the young man was most helpful, never put me on hold, and told me that my new Jeep should ship next Tuesday! Whereas the young lady yesterday put me on hold twice, seemed not to be able to find anything listed about my order (she asked me when I had ordered it) and told me to expect delivery 8-12 weeks after I placed my order. I'm happy, but cautiously optimistic. IF it ships next Tuesday, that will be 4 weeks and one day from the time I ordered it....add in a couple of weeks for transportation and low and behold you are looking at 6 weeks total. Not bad at all.

I ordered my 2013 Unlimited Rubicon from Rancho Jeep in San Diego. I went to the fleet sales manger Doug Wilson and he did honor the tread lightly discount. I recieved my POC sheet and VON number as soon as I ordered. He called me yesterday to tell me it should arrive around Sept 10. Good luck!
