PING...

i would take it all with a grain of salt...or it will just drive you crazy

my dealer printed out a POC sheet back on the 13th that said that my estimated ship date was 3/16...AWESOME ! quicker then i thought it would be,....cuz as of then i was in my 5th day of "production scheduled" on the VOTS..... later that day I actaully update right to "paint"...then stayed there for 6 days....

so on monday 3/18 i spoke to I AM JEEP...she told me "its being loaded on a train today and it will go from Ohio to PA then go to truck "... ok COOL....

so today 4 days later i call in the morning and the lady said "well all i see is that your estimated delivery date is 3/29... NEXT Friday.... i said "i called Monday and the lady told me it was being loaded on a train 4 days ago... she said "well wait i see its being off loaded from a train in PA today"....
I called back later this afternoon to check WHERE in PA out of curiosity... and the lady that answered told me "well its built and being checked out"...i said "what? the lady i spoke to 4 days ago said it was being loaded THAT day"...she said "no i dont see that.".... then she said "it looks like its going to be off loaded from a train TODAY"...kinda tough when its being checked out in TOLEDO....
In the end she told me its in TWin Oaks PA...about a half hour from my dealer....and they're still telling me "delivery on the 29th".. NEXT Friday...

you know the more i think of it...all these people not knowing whats going on and not knowing what the other is doing is all making sense....Wasn't JEEP owned by the government for a while ?

anyway...they said mine shipped on monday 3/18 and the I AM JEEP line girl told me today, the anticitpted arrival at the dealer is 3/29...
REALLY? 11 days to train from Ohio to PA and then truck from PA to NJ ?

maybe they should reinstitute the Pony Express.....?

There are delays in the route. For example, it may have been first off the train and put in the back of the lot. Hence it may sit in the rail yard 2 or 3 days until loaded on a truck. Or there may not be enough to make a full load and they wait until another train load arrives to get a truck load again may take 2 or 3 days.

My salesman has a buddy in at the rail yard in Winston Salem and when we found out it was delivered on Friday March 15 to the rail yard he called his buddy and tried to get it put on a truck that day as send to Gastonia. Did not have a full load but was expecting another train over the weekend said he would try to get it out on Sunday or Monday. Did not happen. Got it loaded on Tuesday morning after another train arrived on Monday and had it at the dealer by 1:30 PM on the 19th. It was about an 1:45 ride from Winston Salem but probably had some stops in between.

Trail riding my 1990 YJ tomorrow at WindRock and will worry about the new ride later next week.

I was told it will be at the dealer on 3/29. I can wait, not sure what I'm gonna do still. I thought about trading in my 2011 Challenger R/T, then again I want to keep it. As the date gets closer I will have to choose. My car is paid off and I hate the thought of trading it and losing a car that I own. Decisions, decisions

I emailed my dealer asking if Dozer is still available. He replied that there is a hold on jeep builds right now and can't confirm what colors we can get. Why would they be on hold?

Order back-log is the reason for the hold. The 10th anniversary rubicon production finally started this week and it has a back-log of over 3000 orders. Jeep has put a restriction on new orders until the first of April, which is monthly/qaurterly allotment time.

Regarding the allotments, does restricted mean that my order is not guaranteed for production? My anniversary model order was placed yesterday, I am a bit apprehensive that I could find out that it won't be built. I have no worldly idea how the allotment system works.

Each dealer is alloted a set number per allotment period for stock on the lot, depending on several parameters. This doesn't apply to "sold orders", units ordered by a customer with a deposit, address and usually e-mail address.

If the dealer took your order, I wouldn't worry, he just can't place it with the factory until April 1 when the restriction lifts.

Thank you. That helps. I am still not sure about how the restriction applies to sold orders. What is the necessity of holding a sold order until the allotments are made? This is where my fear of the order not getting approved comes in. Is there a chance that there may not be any more allotments released for this model?

No, the 10A is not sold out. They aren't taking/scheduling orders at the factory until April to give them time to catch up on the back-log. They've had a restriction for a week or two now on all new orders for wranglers. It's simply coincidence that the first of April coincides with allotment time.

You'll just have a little longer wait. Don't complain, some of us have been waiting on our 10A since Jan.15 and they still haven't shipped yet.

Very helpful. Thank you. I am not complaining. It will be a spare vehicle, no real need for it to hurry up and get here. I have the time to wait for it, I just wanted to be sure that I could get the one we ordered. Momma and I would be brokenhearted to have to order anything else at this point. I will rest a little easier now. Thanks again.

Going by the railhead tomorrow to check and see if my Sahara is in town. It's close to where I live and I would like to snap a pic of it, if its there. It's getting close to the delivery date (2/29)

When I ordered my JKR I wanted Crush. I was told that Crush, Dozer, and Gecko were discontinued and they weren't even an option in the dealers computer for ordering. I think you'll either have to take your chances with a "local inventory" search or choosing a different color... I went with Black.. You can never go wrong with black...

Yes, this is correct. Dozer and Crush were built out about mid November and Gecko was built out about mid December.

Bummer. You're right about black but I already have a black YJ. I wanted a bright color this time

So I called IAMJEEP again today because I have no patience. They said my JKR was in Southkirk, NY rail yard and that it would be at my dealer no later than Saturday

I googled Southkirk NY and other combinations of that with rail yard and there is apparently no such animal o_O Does anyone know where that is? I'm in Connecticut and to know my Jeep is only one state away is awesome!!

Today marks the 5th day..... 5 days my Sahara has been sitting, already off loaded from the train, sitting in a rail yard....about 20 miles away from my dealer...
And STILL, no one can tell me when it will arrive.....

so it was 17 days, from order placed to built...GREAT !

and now i'm at 9 days and counting on the shipment...not so great..

Feel blessed, you should try ordered on 02-02 and still not even in line to be built yet.

Went by the railhead today and there were too many cars. I was crazy to think I could single my white Sahara out of the sea of vehicles that were there.lol
Anyway, emailed my salesman and he said my jeep could get there a day early (3/28) but no sooner. I will check with him again on Thursday

Get your dealer to go get it. My dealer told me they've done that before and the rail yard they get stuff from is almost 2 hours away. They can send someone to get it from the yard and bring it back to the dealership.

^^^^^^
I got a call from my salesman this morning saying my delivery date is NEXT wednesday.... the Jeep has been sitting 30 miles from the dealership for 6 days already....
MY Jeep went from ordered to built in 17 days....AWESOME !
4 days to train ship from Ohio across PA....????
.. and now it will take 13 days to go the last 30 miles....
I just got off of the phone with the manager and he's crying too... He said he has no control... they went to pick up a vehicle once and got fined...he said his dealership is 5 vehicle short for the month and my salesman in 1 vehicle short (my Jeep) from making his bonus... he said his dealership is gonna lose about $800 from Chrysler by not getting it to the lot on time..
Nice work Chrysler.....

Makes me extremely greatful and proud to live in a "RIGHT TO WORK" state.

I was a union member 25 years ago at an aircraft plant in Marietta, Ga.
The only thing I noticed there was that it bred laziness, shiftless behavior and the right to retain your job even if you weren't doing it. Left both that job and organized labor after being there for 5 years and never looked back. Best move I ever made.

It is in Selkirk, NY. Check Google maps and you will see a satellite image of a huge railyard. Your Jeep has to get there, then wait to be unloaded from the railcar, then sit in the railyard parking lot, and then get loaded on a transport truck. I am in CT also and my JKU was in Selkirk for almost 2 weeks. Hang in there!

Thanks for that info... I googled rail yards in NY and nothing close to that came up.. (prior to you telling me the correct spelling) I emailed my dealer lastnight just to get a feel for when he thinks it's coming... He was optimistic and said by tomorrow!! Keeping my fingers crossed....
